Good looking truck..glad to see Hpi back at it..my friend had a nitro powered Hpi in 09 and that's what got me into the hobby. I got the (new at the time) tmaxx 3.3 it's been sitting on the shelf for far to long..lol Can't wait to see the first run video..
This was probably one of the most thorough unboxing and look at this truck I’ve seen. Thanks man. And I hope to see you run it in the future see what it’s all bout. I do really think I’ll be buying one of these trucks in the future. My first nitro was the original Savage X nitro. I loved that truck what a beast.
The trouble with hpi is there made so well 🤩 my savage 25 is still going but now brushless & super reliable 🤍 , geared down , locked difts front & back , twin packs , single speed . Its awesome
My Savage is like 6+ years old. Glad to see HPi is on it again. With I had money for a new one , but its not really all that new( thats not a bad thing. Why fix something that ain't broken) Hope to see some more spare parts!
I love the tvp chassis design, i have the CEN Reeper and its a very solid truck and reminds me alot of the savage, hopefully these will get the reputation back up
Cool video, and Rig! Now, to answer ur question. " What do we think u left out of this video?" (THE RUN!!) So when do we going to get to see u Thrash and Bash it?
Ha ha, dude, you forgot the run video! Looking forward to seeing that thing out in the dirt where it belongs! I think it's really a cool looking truck, I'd much rather have this than the Arrma and Traxxas stuff that everyone apparently loves! I'm not on the lookout for a big basher, but if I were, this could be it... I really like the body on this, but I'd be excited to see what you come up with!
Great overview! I'm not sure how HPI's stocking of their bodies are at the time of this video but something with the Grave Robber or the Pontiac GTO would be classy.
Still bash my old HPI Savage Flux, I'm hoping the replacement parts will be much easier accessible to get for this, cause 80% of the parts pretty much/look the same. Groetjes uit Nederland!
@@hemistormrc that was me talking with 17mm conversion done. my savage flux xl been gathering dust for about 4 years now. cost of wheel replacement hurts.
@@hemistormrc i have been out of the RC scene for too long. Could you link me to the exact product you are talking about? i have cried many times, i can cry once more. i have always wondered why smaller wheels couldn't have those metal sleeve a like thingys you see on HPI baja wheels and such. I have tested that some 3rd party aluminium sleeve to go on the OEM HPI wheels but those wheels have softer plastics and they get stripped as well over time. Yeah... I tried many many different things back in the days. Epoxing' the F out of isn't the best solution as wheel can be out of alignment easily. Thanks for reminding me of some newer available hardwares. Thanks to you... I may dust off my Savage Flux HP XL.
@@xxgg I hope this helps! www.amainhobbies.com/proline-8x32-to-17mm-1-2-offset-aluminum-hex-adapters-pro6353-00/p-qqqrtakq7m2vqctz?avad=255405_c25389749
I'd run it without the body. Remove the bumpers and middle tower/handle and make some mesh for the fan tower making it look like a pilots pod. looks like a mean Batmanbuggy without the body... the way the body sits on top of the frame looks weird IMO...
Wonder why they call it the x cause like you said the x an ss are nirto it should say savage Flux not x that's what I think I have brand new one just ran it off the tires to break it in with a lrp .32
Next time I need a truck to flex as an air freshener I know what to buy. Hpi has always built tough stuff, looks like they haven't come up with anything new. That's good and bad. The chassis is a 15 year old design, maybe a little lighter? I converted my old nitro to electric a decade ago and it is still a rough rig, but it like to sit on the shelf and look old. It is always nice when companies spark some new ideas but hpi isn't really hpi anymore, but still seems like a solid rig. Better than many on the market. They should have named it the brick. I think it looks OK. I did laugh when you brought up the Phillips hardware. OLIVE RC must have been working for them, he loves the post apocalyptic hardware.
Doesn't look like a true basher out of the box look at all the plastic I love hpi but I would not waste my money on something thats all plastic probably will break a upper swing arms first crash it has come on hpi get with the times
Good to see HPI got with the times and are using hex head hardware and have finally updated the wheel nuts!!
Yes indeed, hahaha!

Awesome looking new Savage X from HPI. Thanks for sharing! Get well soon!
Thanks Brad! I’m on the mend!
Awesome!! I can wait to get all of them out in the sun again. Loved HPI back n the day so I know this is a must have

It is nice to see HPI getting back on their feet again. I haven't have any problems with the philips hardware on the two WheelyKing's I have.
I had the original 1/8th Savage nitro years ago. Always been planning on coming back to ground vehicles after years in the air on electric.
Well it seems like this was meant to be!
Have to say, that's a pretty stout looking chassis. Thanks for sharing the details, Chris!

For sure, it’s a bit old school but in that also tried and tested. 😁👍🏼
Extra Cushion for The Pushing!! Laughed Hard with that!! 😀🤗
I had a 4.6. Sold it, regret it. Awesome video
Thanks Trevor, thank you for watching!
They’re back, and I’m in LOVE!!!
Great review! Hope you feel better soon!
Awesome overview thx Hemistorm
Thank you for watching, I appreciate it!

As soon as it isn’t -10 out here!
Super cool man. Always wanted 9ne of those trucks.
cool looking rc and great review brother
Cheers! I appreciate that!
Love this truck!
Yes! Can’t wait for the return of HPI, nothing matches their quality imo
And the smell. 😂😁
Hi there, first looks of the HPI Savage X looks a great and capable RC. 😊😉😊
It’s a nice design, recognizable yet modern!
How longer i look at the truck, the better it looks
I sure like what they did!
Awesome video very nice just started seeing this one again last week definitely a cool one

Sooo glad there back.
Hello from V&b speed a new rc community channel v&b speed..Grate painting u do long time watcher✌🌍👋
I appreciate the support!
Hopefully we'll see the return on the 5b styled TVP. I was sad I missed out on those back in the day
nice truck nice review
I would buy a 1/5 scale roller Savage Flux
Same!
Hope they re release the Baja 5b kit
I love the savage platform. I have 3 savage nitros
Never had the opportunity to own any HPI rigs always passed them up nice looking rig though ….get well soon CHRIS
Cheers Mikey! Worth looking into, these rigs!

Groeten terug!
Is hpi back ?
Absolutely, in full force by the looks of it!
Very nice 🚀💥 💪😀
Imo,as with one of these quite a bit around the back yard and church parking lots .
Iconic truck, looking forward to seeing what will be next!
I see there is a wheelie bar on the savage x box under the lip of the top flap. What's the name and part number of that new wheelie bar?
Well spotted! The name is Savage Wheelie Bar V2, part no #160398
Thanks! Ordered a savage x 4.6 and wanted to protect the body. I am sure the wheelie bar will help. Lol
How about the proline Gladiator Rubicon body on it....or....the Chevy Silverado 2500 HD
Why is T-plug outdated?
Would a NoPrep Muscle car body fit?
Mooi Chris!
Dankjewel! 😃👍🏼👍🏼
no wheely bar.. gonna do the rival mt8?
Still no chainsaw unboxings... 🧐
Haha, no! I had just vacuumed. 🤣
@@hemistormrc haha you're like me, we like order rather than chaos in our older years😇
Oh en...beterschap Chris
U trolle hybrid?
Return of Wheel Hex Strip?
Haha, I think you have a lot less risk of that with 17mm hexes AND nuts this time around. It seems solid!

What's the point of an HPI savage that's brushless? The Savage is even more legendary in Nitro form!
Well, you can’t get nitro in Norway anymore so that would be a good start.
@@hemistormrc Wow really? I never knew restrictions on rc cars were even a thing! My apologies bro
