Love it Lin! My sons that are adults, still put grass and water for the camels. Last year our dog ate the grass at night!😀❤

In our polish church we take hey from the manger in church to give to the camels 🐪 . They also have their traditions us Irish people celebrate it as little Christmas. But my kids are half Puerto Rican so I wanted them to know this tradition that their relatives in Puerto Rico celebrate. Thanks for sharing what you did .

Love this Catholic tradition. We also add a house blessing on Epiphany (when the wise men arrived to honor baby Jesus.) Catholic All Year is a blog that has great resources on other liturgical holidays. Lots of fun for kids...but I honestly think it's more fun for me as an adult!
The Catholic religion is just that a man-made religion.

Omg it was magical. I grew up in Vega Baja but have been in USA for 31 years. My kids are half Irish but we have always celebrated three king with shoe boxes. My mother in las and brother in law always celebrated with us. I make Puerto Rican meal unfortunately because of covid it was a bit slow. When my kids were little they never went to school. Happy three Kings

I love your story. I've always been drawn to Christmas. Look forward of prayers, novenas,etc, in preparation for the Feast of the Epiphany,as well as Christmas day. I may go outside my home and look for Grass, and Hay, perform the same rituals as you did.God Bless you

I first learned about the King's Cake when I was staying in a Parisian hostel in Jan 2012? One of the swets cake i had had. Baby Jesus in it 😊 so i asked around, was told the story of the 3 Kings.
I look forward to the cake every January in southern California 😊, the Mexican version is too sweet

We left coquito for the three kings. They loved us LOL
LMM not only Puerto Rican but Dominican’s kids as well has the extra Holidays, going up from 110 Th ST all the way to the Pelham on the Bronx. Plus in Queens is very well celebrated from Mexicans and Colombian’s kids as well, we can’t even come close with the decorations and foods that Mexican do on the Three Kings Day, let’s say that is a ALL Latinos’ kids extra Holiday!! 🌲🎈

that makes no sense. the three kings aren't traveling through NY to get to Bethlehem. They came from the east as in Middle East and northeast Africa. may as well stick with waiting for tooth fairy money. u make the shoebox somebody needs to clean that up.
It’s a product of European colonization
It's a traditional festivity. I could also argue that the language you're talking is a "product of colonization", but it's just a thing that, for a multitude of factors, ended up being an important language. Maybe colonization took a part on that process? Yeah, for sure. But that doesn't mean you have to get rid of everything that has been part of your life and the life of your ancestors for 500 years!
