The problem with ordering online has its issues. Different manufacturers gear fits different even if the size is the same. Alot of retailers noticed over the years, people coming in and trying on the gear to get the sizing right. Then not buying it (most likely ordering online). Some do not carry as much stock as a result and this will cause a cascade effect of additional issues in the future.
I agree. I wish I had a gear retailer close to me. And I would probably buy from them more often. Especially for certain items. But on certain things I'd rather not overpay needlessly.
Love some Amazon gear. We have one of those “Treasure Hunt” liquidators here. Nothing but tables of Amazon returns. They rotate the inventory weekly. Day one is $8 for anything and each day it goes lower. I’ve gotten some really good deals there. Just have to dig through boxes.
omg has it been 2 years since you bought the black and Red jacket, i remember when you first got it and cant believe how time flies. all great advice especially on sizes, i get much of my stuff from ebay because its so much cheaper and still new. but amazon are so much better on delivery. spot on advice mate "read the reviews" 👍👍
I actually think it'll be 2 years next month..but close enough! 😂. I've thought about getting stuff from eBay, but I always seem to come across heavily used items!! 😂
I bought my first motorcycle jacket on Amazon. It did the job. It was no Alpinestars jacket that's for sure. I buy most of my gear on Fortnine. Wish we had Cycle Gear in Canada. Closest one to me is in Bellingham Washington.
Ok, now that is something I have never thought of. Great idea!! I am going to start checking out Amazon. I do remember someone telling me you must read the very small "fine" print as not all products are same as shown LOL I absolutely love how you can stay focused and on topic. Great topic and enjoyed this video.
Absolutely read the fine print!! You can get good stuff, but it's easy to get tricked if you're not careful. Thanks for the compliment!! I thought I tended to ramble!! 😂.
So many of the bigger merchants use that Amazon store front and most of the time they have discounts vs. what is on thier own site. Good stuff, may tryout some heated gear this year.
Checking the size chart is important. Not just for gear. I bought a pair of slip on tennis shoes in my size and when I got them, they were about a size and a half too big. I was disappointed.
I've found some of the stuff on there is so way out on the sizes, I've landed up sending it back. That's the good thing with Amazon, no fuss on returning stuff. One jacket I tried with "armour", I found the "armour" was about as resilient as a Russian tank against Ukranian drones! Being a fat knacker, I do struggle to get a good fit cos the size that I need to go round my gut, means the sleeves are long enough to fit a knuckle dragger. Good topic, good advice, ride safe buddy.
July was a complete wash out here with rain every day. August drier but not warm. This week is roasting hot. Absolutely weird weather! I can't shop with Amazon any more. Not sure what it's like over there but often here they are the most expensive and the traditional stores are competing well. When they are cheap, it's usually because it's knock-off junk.
Something you'd find in a store is maybe slightly cheaper on Amazon. But the oddball stuff is usually way cheaper. But like you say, if you don't pay attention, you won't get decent gear, just knock off garbage.
So the biggest take away here is "read the reviews". I'm not knocking Amazon, I guess you can pick up some cool quality gear at a cheap price, I haven't tried it yet, but after this video I definitely will. I always just found it easier to run down to my local cyclegear and get what I needed, the convenience of just trying it on in store, feeling the quality and seeing what you get for your money 💰 has always been easier. But your way gives you a bigger variety, which it pretty cool too. Stay safe, and warm out there KG lol. Oh, and thanks for the Shoutout brother 🙏 🎉🎉👌🙏🏼
If I had a local Cycle Gear I would be doing the same thing. The closest one to me is about an hour away. Not bad, but not convenient either. I would rather try in person as well. Absolutely check the reviews. Like I said 50/50 chance it could be sub par. So really look before you buy.
I prefer to physically go to a shop for bike gear but unfortunately there aren't any near me. I order from an online motorcycle retailers. Talking about gear. I'm sure it's almost time for you to get a new helmet. I've had my scorpion exo-1400 carbon for a while now
I'd rather be there in person as well. But I also don't have any nearby. Got maybe another year or so out my R1 Air. But I have my eyes open for something new.
I buy literally nothing online. I don't even have (or ever had ) a credit card. But yeah, it's been chilly here as well all August. My next "gear" will be a good, warm winter jacket. lol
I do love an online bargain, though I try to buy Australian there's not much out there - but a big consideration is trying it on first, I've thrown away money on jackets that have sleeves just 2cm too long for me for example. I think every motorcyclist relates to "I hope he turns left. Turn left, turn left, turn... ah rats." heheh! That part had me chuckling.
I don't blame you for buying Australian. That's a good thing!! I'd buy American but most American gear is Harley Davidson and that doesn't help me much! 😂.
Got an HWK mess armored jacket off of Amazon quite a while ago.. it's good quality and was only like 35 bucks.. gloves i get burned on.. they never fit right
Nothing wrong with Amazon..I'm in Ohio Harrison Ohio and it's been hot all August in the upper 80's and 90's not sure where you're at in Ohio but like I said it's hot here in Harrison Ohio ...🇺🇸👍👍👍
Agreed. The very important things I don't skimp on. Helmet and such. But the smaller things I look for good stuff..but don't want to unnecessarily overpay for a brand. Appreciate you stopping by the channel man!
Dude, I'd shop online, but then I'd have to return a bunch of stuff because I'm shaped like an oompa-loompa... so, since I have to leave the house anyway, I go to one of 3 spots and buy my stuff :D
Yep check sizes and reviews for sure. We have had so nights in the 40's already here in Upstate New York.
40's!! Oh yuk!! I'm not looking forward to that at all!! Definitely check the sizes!!

Never heard of that! Treasure hunt liquidators... kind of sounds like fun!

my summer gloves are amazon gloves. They are not bad, but like you said, you have to do your research on what you are looking for.
Definitely!! Easy to get duped of you're not careful!!
It’s definitely warming up here. First day of spring and I think I got sunburn.
I know you have to be looking forward to the warm weather!! Got sunburnt a few weeks back myself!! Sucked!
KG, thanks for the heads-up 👍 Have a great evening and be safe sir ✌️
Anytime man!! Hopefully it will help.
So many of the bigger merchants use that Amazon store front and most of the time they have discounts vs. what is on thier own site. Good stuff, may tryout some heated gear this year.
That is true! I also think you can find discontinued item on Amazon that the original merchant no longer sells on their site.
Checking the size chart is important. Not just for gear. I bought a pair of slip on tennis shoes in my size and when I got them, they were about a size and a half too big. I was disappointed.
Yep. Some of the things I've bought ( even though I read the reviews ) were still too small. Luckily it fits on the youngest boy!! 😂
Yup brought some trousers from them last year, pretty good to be fair!!!
Really?? They really cut out the wind!! I'm actually pretty impressed with them.
I have purchased a lot of stuff on Amazon, but only for camera and audio gear… sounds like motorcycle gear is a great option too.
It is. You just have to be careful. Lots of garbage on there too!
I've had to double layer my hoodie in the cool Colorado morning, 09/05/2023. to go to work.
Yep! Me too! It's chilly at night when I go in. But by morning I'm almost overdressed! 🤷.
I appreciate you stopping by the channel!! 🙏

Oh believe me, I've been bitten on the size problem as well. Now I scan all the reviews to make sure ( and hope ) I get the right thing.

@@KODEGREY Most definitely 👍
Nope... we have had a sweltering summer, minus a few decent days. No need to get out the cold weather gear any time soon :(
It's funny cause I recorded this in the last week of August. Now we are in the 90's!! 😂.
Weird weather!!
@@KODEGREY It happens! We had a nice week, now a scorching week. Next up: rain, rain and MORE rain! Then, cooler temps?
Damn man, getting cold already? Spring here in New Zealand. Finally starting to get some good riding weather our side 😊
walmart is good for base layers too and pretty cheap
Agreed. But I was looking forward fleece lined thermals. Couldn't find any at Walmart. So to Amazon I went!
@@KODEGREY they're in the sporting goods section, usually black or camo
@@benspellman1118 I've been looking in the wrong section! 😂
