  • CBSE class 10 Science - Heredity and Evolution -Mendel's experiment of Monohybrid Cross and Dihybrid Cross with pea plants gave an idea of how traits (characters) get expressed. After Monohybrid Inheritance experiment Mendel gave First Law of Inheritance (Law of Segregation). In Monohybrid cross Mendel found the Recessive Traits and Dominant traits present in the plants. With the help of the Punnett square we will find out why dwarfness was missing in the offsprings in the F1 generation and was present in the F2 generation.

    Why did he pick a pea plant?.... It's an imp. Question....
    1.because life span of pea plant is very short.
    2.he could study a no.Of contrasting visible characteristics peas...-round or wrinkled seeds
    -colour of flowers
    -height of plant
    3.easy to maintain
    4.pea is a bisexual plant... Hence can easily cross breed and self pollinate....
    Hope it helps❤🥰

    Hey!! I have a question.
    How did mendel come to know that the plants he took are pure bred short and tall respctvly???

    • @lokendrasinghbhadoriya4681
      @lokendrasinghbhadoriya4681 5 лет назад +15

      Very nice question....
      For this mendel has taken a Dwarf plant (for Dwarf plant only possible genotype is tt)
      and crossed with a Tall plant(Possible genotype either Tt or TT)
      If tall :Dwarf ratio in offsprings is 2:2 than it was a Impure tall and if the ratio is 4:0 than it was a pure tall plant
