I liked jump-rope...& playing on swings, roller skating, hula hoops...jacks, table-games, and running just because I felt like runnin'! And growing up on a farm & ranch, there were trees, tree climbing, making up a 'just whatever I could find' picnic...sneakin' out of the house carrying a sheet so I could lay on it while I looked up at the moon & it looked back at me...Often I'd think about the young man, David, watching the flocks by night & by day, aii those years ago. So many good people.
As the United States we can do better it's because when money is involved it appears to me lives don't matter whether they're young or old this is what our country/ United States 🇺🇸 has come to in these times..my prayers for those die and injured and their family loss. Greed for money is the root of evil.
I remember cracklin cornbread from when l was growing up on a farm in Georgia. We made our own every winter when we killed a hog. Ours were not smoked though. It was just the fat cut into cubes and the lard was rendered out of it in a big black kettle over a fire. I was the youngest of 12 children so that was always my job to cut it and stir it during the cooking . I havent had any in forever cause it is so hard to find now. But my mom always made hers in a black cast iron skillet the cracklin cornbread was just one big pone of cornbead, cooked in the oven. Mama never made hot water cornbread or fried hers. I sure enjoyed your video and your story of going to the corner store. A quarter allowance. My goodness your family was rich if your parents could afford that. But it was fun walking down memory lane with you at the neighborhood store buying two for a penny candy, nickel cokes, and taking all those glass bottles back for the deposit they gave us . Cokes back in those old days were a different recipe. The original recipe did in fact have cocaine in it. Thats where the name came from.
My Mom was a Southern cook from Georgia, you're cooking is like what im use to,I cook like your many recipes, I'm 76 now, it's hard to even sit with my sciatica running through my back & legs, but I use a walker that helps me out!! As long as I can walk ,I won't give up!! Thanks for lots of memories in the kitchen xoxoxo
Oh Lana, I'm sorry you hurt. I also suffer with sciatica and I have degenerative disk disease. I'm 74 years old. I have my chiropractor adjust my sciatic side every 3 weeks. It is a gentle adjustment. Afterward I'm good for 3 weeks. Also, the BEST thing I do when I hurt so much is ice my back. I wrap a large ice pack in a towel and sit down with the pack against my sore area for about half an hour to 45 minutes. I ice about 6 times a day or whenever I start to hurt. It numbs the area and let's me function. I wish I knew this years ago, I wouldn't have suffered so long. This even let's me do light housework, bake, and work in my yard tending to my flowers. I also do light exercises. Best wishes, Lana. Feel better. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. My name is Colette and I live in Washington state.
Thanks to all of you,Colette, thank you for the advice, ues,I'm bone to bone in the lowered lumbar pinching nerve, but I'm grateful to be able to still use walker, praying for everyone , love to yall xoxoxo
Tennessee North, thank you, for reminding me of how fortunate we were to grow up in much better times! Also for your delicious looking recipes! Watching you eat and closing your eyes with every bite made me laugh and enjoy it with you. I will be praying for the families in Nashville. May God bless you with a healing for your back and give a lot more to do and enjoy!😊
My Prayers for Tennessee and the Families 🙏I used to live in Franklin TN it's such a Beautiful state and also I found me some crackling a couple months ago and I used a oven you guy's call it" Egg bread ", I loved!! u made my mouth water😋
Thank you for showing me the step of what I had to do with the crackling for the cornbread. My mom used to backe it in the oven, because that’s the way my dad liked it. And yes, he also got a big flab of bread when mom made homemade biscuits. Everyone knew that was daddy’s piece of bread at dinner! Dad got first serving of everything back then, as was customary. My mom bless her beautiful heart, made sure we all got fed, and later on I realized she was going hungry herself! My dad should have shared that burden by eating less so mom could eat too! I can still remember begging her to eat at least a little, before dad came home. What I DIDN’T understand was the dynamics of male /female spouses then, and that it would have been shameful to have your family issues aired in the street by the married couple. Even if it was already in the gossip mills! Thank the Lord I live in a different time when battered spouses can now get outside help! God Bless you Ms. Tennessee North reminding us that bad things can be changed by something as simple as sitting around a kitchen table to share some good food and love for our neighbors!
I'm 76 years old and have never seen anyone cook like this... Your dinner plate looks so tasty!!! Makes the way I cook the same food doesn't look near as good as yours. I am so glad I found your channel today because I'm learning so much. Cannot wait until I find more of your recipes and the way you cook them. God bless you ✝️
My heartfelt condolences for the Nashville families and your state. The saddest reality is that it's happening more and more frequently, and it's everywhere. We must continue to pray for all people. God bless you. Thank you for that delicious meal. The fried sweet potatoes were my favorite as a child. Thank you for bringing back the old southern cooking my mom used to cook for me. Love it. May God's healing hands be on you during your recovery. Denolis
I am so glad I found your videos. I am so sorry for the loss in Tennessee. I am a retired Chicago Police Officer. The one officer that went in, and stopped the threat is from my neighborhood here. Those officers are heros!

I am a fellow boomer and yes we had real childhoods. We must keep our youmg people in prayer and teach them as we were taught. Everything has truly changed, but coming from old school parents meant I had a foundation and we were taught to respect. We must stay on the wall and never come down. God bless.
Just discovered you and I’m loving watching and just listening to your wisdom . I would love to come to your house for dinner ! Lol .. thank you for your blessings ! ♥️
Hello Tennessee North so glad to see you. That hurts so bad to hear about all of the killing it doesn't make any difference what color you are. It's sad. Like you said children can't enjoy life like we did. I pray for our little children all over the world and the Senior Citizens also all over the world. As usual I will be cooking some of these dishes you cooked today . My Mother use to cook Crackling bread. But I have never had fried sweet potatoes but it looks delicious and chicken fried steak that I love . So these dishes will be cooked at my home within the next week. I will be praying for you and your back pain. Try that Vicks and heating pad see if it helps. Take care of yourself. Love you Tennessee. You make people feel so comfortable as if you were right in your home and like a part of your family. Thank you so much ❤ 🙌😇🙏👋🦋😊❤

Amen amen and as usual, it looks so delicious. God bless you
That's. Food look delicious.
This looks so good . I am definitely going to make this meal .

Hi Tennessee North I am from Va. and I love your meals. They are just like the ones I make at home. Also I grew up just like you did running and playing outside and enjoying my friends. We couldn't wait for summer and school to start. Different times and a different breed of children. Praying for your state such a tragedy.
