As the United States we can do better it's because when money is involved it appears to me lives don't matter whether they're young or old this is what our country/ United States 🇺🇸 has come to in these times..my prayers for those die and injured and their family loss. Greed for money is the root of evil.

I liked jump-rope...& playing on swings, roller skating, hula hoops...jacks, table-games, and running just because I felt like runnin'! And growing up on a farm & ranch, there were trees, tree climbing, making up a 'just whatever I could find' picnic...sneakin' out of the house carrying a sheet so I could lay on it while I looked up at the moon & it looked back at me...Often I'd think about
the young man, David, watching the flocks by night & by day, aii those years ago.
    So many good people.

I remember cracklin cornbread from when l was growing up on a farm in Georgia. We made our own every winter when we killed a hog. Ours were not smoked though. It was just the fat cut into cubes and the lard was rendered out of it in a big black kettle over a fire. I was the youngest of 12 children so that was always my job to cut it and stir it during the cooking . I havent had any in forever cause it is so hard to find now. But my mom always made hers in a black cast iron skillet the cracklin cornbread was just one big pone of cornbead, cooked in the oven. Mama never made hot water cornbread or fried hers. I sure enjoyed your video and your story of going to the corner store. A quarter allowance. My goodness your family was rich if your parents could afford that. But it was fun walking down memory lane with you at the neighborhood store buying two for a penny candy, nickel cokes, and taking all those glass bottles back for the deposit they gave us . Cokes back in those old days were a different recipe. The original recipe did in fact have cocaine in it. Thats where the name came from.

Oh Lana, I'm sorry you hurt. I also suffer with sciatica and I have degenerative disk disease. I'm 74 years old. I have my chiropractor adjust my sciatic side every 3 weeks. It is a gentle adjustment. Afterward I'm good for 3 weeks. Also, the BEST thing I do when I hurt so much is ice my back. I wrap a large ice pack in a towel and sit down with the pack against my sore area for about half an hour to 45 minutes. I ice about 6 times a day or whenever I start to hurt. It numbs the area and let's me function. I wish I knew this years ago, I wouldn't have suffered so long. This even let's me do light housework, bake, and work in my yard tending to my flowers. I also do light exercises. Best wishes, Lana. Feel better. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. My name is Colette and I live in Washington state.

Thank you for showing me the step of what I had to do with the crackling for the cornbread. My mom used to backe it in the oven, because that’s the way my dad liked it. And yes, he also got a big flab of bread when mom made homemade biscuits. Everyone knew that was daddy’s piece of bread at dinner! Dad got first serving of everything back then, as was customary. My mom bless her beautiful heart, made sure we all got fed, and later on I realized she was going hungry herself! My dad should have shared that burden by eating less so mom could eat too! I can still remember begging her to eat at least a little, before dad came home. What I DIDN’T understand was the dynamics of male /female spouses then, and that it would have been shameful to have your family issues aired in the street by the married couple. Even if it was already in the gossip mills! Thank the Lord I live in a different time when battered spouses can now get outside help! God Bless you Ms. Tennessee North reminding us that bad things can be changed by something as simple as sitting around a kitchen table to share some good food and love for our neighbors!

🙏🙏🙏 Incidentally, Ms. Tennessee North nobody in our family cooked white gravy either. Gravy was always brown... no red eye gravy, no tomatoe gravy, no chocolate gravy... none of that. I also loved the way you moved away from the stove to taste your sweet potatoes, instead of eating over the pot. If we see someone eating over the pot, that is the end of the meal for us, and don't dare put the utensil back in the food after you've eaten off of it.😘🤣

❤❤❤❤❤ I am so very happy I found you a channel on RUclips today, I've been cooking for 40-plus years I've learned many many many things watching your videos today. Love the cracklin cornbread, as well as the hot water cornbread. I tried the crackling corn-bread so so very very good I remember you talking about the smoke flavor in the cracklins so I also remember in one of your videos you use some of that ham bullion I put a little bit of that into the boiling water with the cracklins as they were cooking turned out so very awesome flavor.❤❤❤❤

I watch hundreds of cooking videos. Most times just for pointers or a different twist on my own recipes. I ran across this one today and I watched the whole thing and joined in prayer for the school victims. You are soo real. Our locs r the same, we both are full figured and your story is just like killing me softly with your song. I've got a bad back but like you said I went every where I wanted to go when younger or no mobility issues. Jamaica was a favorite and many cruises. Me too don't like white gravy. I love the simplicity of this meal and I already know it's going be a great Sunday meal.
    Blessings and peace....

I was raised on cracklin cornbread (born in Mississippi), but like you said you can't find them around here where I live, they are just crumbs.

You are much like the women , my mom and her three friends, who sat and talked around the kitchen table about most anything! It is where I learned so much about what i needed when I would need when facing life’s challenges, or cooking tips on whatever

Hello Ms. Tennessean North. I’m a new subscriber. People need Jesus Christ. Our young people today are so confused with all the ominous voices today. Every bit of this violence in our nation today is senseless! I’m so tired of turning on the news or RUclips and seeing these horrific tragedies. I know we all are. I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s and we never had this issue. Well enough on that. I’m really enjoying your channel. Good ole home cooking! GOD bless you. -Debbie, NE Texas

Hello Mrs. Tennessee North, this my first comment and or post... I know this is a old video but I just got up the nerve to post a comment on anything... But wanted you to know I've been watching your channel for a long time and love everything you stand for... Most of all you remind me of my grandmother... She is no longer with us but I see a lot of her in you... Keep sharing your wonderful recipes and I'll keep watching... Wishing all the best😊

Sorry about your back. I get it. I have several autoimmune diseases, one of which is rheumatoid arthritis. I have neuropathy. I could go on. I just know your pain. God is with us. We will be healed, either before we die, but for sure when we go home we will be healed. This is the first time I’ve watched you. You are precious. I’m 60 TOMORROW. I’ll be praying for you sweetie. ❤🙏

Hello Miss North, my first time seeing/watching you. Loved your video, will be watching you again, God wiiling. May I suggest that when using your cutting board, please put a wet tea towel under it. That will keep it from sliding. I learned this from watching a young chef from Maryland. It really works. God Bless you and yours💟
