    This is great, and is now a core part of my toolset.
    Now: I have an enhancement challenge:
    * Render selected object to thumbnail (without having to do the manual round trip to file and back in again). This is a convenience item that probably involves rendering with preset settings, saving the file out and importing it as a scripted action. Bonus points if you put a watermark on it for the kind of object it is (mesh, curve, etc) if it's a single object
    * Make thumbnails for node groups. Right now I take a screenshot of the node, paste, save to file, put a watermark on it to indicate "Geometry node group" or "Shader node group", and then have to browse and select it. Havent decided what to do if the node group is really big yet.
    Make a tool to do that and I will love you forever and also give you more of my money.

    Amazing, Johnny! This is a tool that should be baked into Blender by default. The Asset Browser is a great idea, but needs functionality like this for me to want to use it.

      The Asset Browser reminds me a lot of working with models/materials for the Source engine, which is why I don't mind it as much as other people, but the asset browser could definitely use updates

      i came here to comment the same, a bulk organizer like this should be part of the default blender in the asset browser, its really annoying and time consuming to manage and clean a lot of different files opening one by one by hand and copy pasting names and tags in especific objects that probably needs to be selected from a bunch too.

    Consistently one of the best RUclips channels out there for blender content, perhaps because I relate better to content made by a programmer as a programmer myself. Either way, this is the missing feature that Blender assets always needed, and the one that ultimately tipped me into patronage. Not so bothered by the bulk renaming/tagging, but I've lost track of the number of times I've created a useful node group or model in the current project and wanted an easy way to move it into my asset lib for future re-use.

    Awesome, without this functionality the asset browser is useless.
    Can the assets be edited without opening the original file too? Changing the mesh for example.

    Johnny thank you so much for this tool its brillaint, I have a couple of questions, is there a way of adding in multip[le tags to a bunch of selected assets, for example 10 different brick, but I wanted them all to have tags of: Brick, Building Material for example, so I dont have to select the 10 and then create the tag Brick, and then go back and select them again and add Building material as the second tag, is it possible to use like a separator etc in the field to add multiple tags at a time ?
    I have thousands of assets and once the tag adds its takes time to refresh to then go back and add the next tag, can this be done ??

    I bought thid addon because it seems to be very helpful
    One of his principal benefit for me would to be able to move assets between catalog hierarchy without to have to open each individual file
    I just made a trial, and had an issue (blender 3.6 and addon version 1.6) : when I want to select the destination catalog the pop-up window is not enough big to see all the catalog hierarchy, how to scroll the list ?
    Edit : With more short hierarchy, it works very well ! many Thanks !!

    Very cool, thanks for that. I don't know if this is possible or maybe already working like this with this addon but here's a use case I'd like to see: let's say you do have a single blend file for a certain library, let's say shoes. This blend file is stored in a place that is marked as asset library that can also be synced via Dropbox for example and then shared with others. Now l am working on a project in a separat blend file (not saved in an asset library folder) where I'm using a new pair of shoes that is not part of the library yet. When I'm done I'd like to add these new shoes to my library. Currently I'd go to my shoes asset library blend file and manually append my shoes from the project blend file before I can mark it as asset. But it would be really great if I could just add these shoes directly from the project blend file instead. Meaning that under the hood the appending of the object to the library file and marking it as an asset and saving the blend file that has been shared with others will be done automatically. Basically the idea is that the actual asset get always stored in a file and a location that everyone has access to no matter where the original asset came from. Do you think this is possible? Thanks again.

      That sort of thing would certainly be a possibility, but is not a feature in this release.

      @@JohnnyMatthews if i remember correctly, I think blender devs also have this feature on their Roadmap. However I think for some reasons regarding saving permissions for blend files they couldn't figure out the proper way of doing this yet.

      How you will know the position of appended file. I mean maybe it is overlapping with other objects in native file.

    So does it open the original file in the new update version of whatever Blender you're using this addon in, to move things? Like say I'm using 3.4 blender and edit with this, and one of my materials is 3.2 Blender, does another instance of 3.4 open on the backend, which this addon opens that material's scene and does the edit and saves?

    Nice Addon, thanks. Hey, on your Gumroad listing you mention using a dummy file in your library. Would you care to elaborate on what this means as I unsure how that works.

      Well you can’t save new catalogs from an unsaved file. So if you create an empty file in your asset library you can open it and use it to create your library structure. Then once you save it, you can use the addon to start organizing your catalogs.

    I must be doing something wrong. I downloaded the tool, v1.3, from the link provided, installed it, but when I try and move some assets, the cursor turns into some animated numbers for a while, and then stops. Nothing has been moved. Any suggestions?

    Just installed this on 4.2 and there is neither an "Asset" or "Edit" menu in the Asset Browser, so there is no way for me to use this. No other menu has the Bulk Asset Tool options.

    Not working for me. I've tried adding and removing Tags to multiple assets (Kitbash3D) It goes through all the motions, it has the busy cursor going during the background process and gives the impression it has opened the asset files and closed them...but nothing is added or removed to the Tags in the Assets. Is this a permissions thing?

      @@JohnnyMatthews No, plus I've broken this particular kit up into individual blend files for each of the buildings and a single file for all the Props. ..it's the Cyber District kit. None of the files are read only and I'm using Blender 3.4.1

      @@JohnnyMatthews 1.2 did not work on my current installation of 3.4.1. It must be an addon conflict on my end because I got it working on 3.3 LTS after a factory reset. I thought it may be a conflict with the True Assets addon, so I installed that as well. Bulk Asset Tools still worked fine, so it's not that. Not your fault and not you problem. I decided to kick you back $5 for your effort and contribution....Thanks.
