I was fortunate to play one of the marimba parts in this piece’s 1970s U.S. premiere. It’s a fringe masterwork that induced shivers and tears in audiences. Killer dynamics. This is also a wonderful performance! Ginastera: underrated Argentine composer.

A fantastic composer who really brings something new to percussion music. He present traditional elements of Argentinian music. This score was for dramatic soprano and 53 percussion instrument original score.
Definitely very difficult to sing. And with all that percussion going on.... I'm not so sure I could stand it for half an hour.... not so much for me. Sorry.
We (the percussion) watched 3 sopranos battle this piece in rehearsal until the 3rd finally nailed it (and sang in the concert). Yes. It is extremely difficult!
