This book is one of my prized possessions!
90s attitude comics my childhood
Big guns, gunpouches, swords and edgy women everywhere was the 90s to the capital T. It was good while it lasted. In ways I miss that era in other ways I'm glad it's gone. Jim Lee Wildcats has so much potential. It's a shame DC hasn't reintroduced the team again for a new generation. It's just screaming with potential... maybe a Suicide Squad and Wildcats crossover.
Maybe someday....
Great review.
MR.DC COMICS DC did recently publish The Wild Storm, which featured all sorts of characters from the universe, along with a Michael Cray series. There was supposed to be a follow up Wildcats series by Ellis but it got cancelled :(
@@TheHardcoverComic yeah I was waiting on that new Wildcats book. Shame we were so close. The Wildcats and Milestone comics were supposed to been reintroduced ages ago. These past few years DC has undergone so many changes from ATT buying WB. To the DCEU. And now the comic book new order with Dan Diddio being gone. It's crazy times.
I love 90's comics! Best art in comics (Glad guys like Brett Booth and Greg Capullo are keeping the style alive) I love how the team gets introduced and the crossover with CyberForce! I don't think the book was recolored because I've pulled out my original issues from the 90's to compare and they look the same (image had the best coloring in the 90's, they really led the way with computer colors.) I really hope they make a Travis Charvest WildCats Omnibus!
The artists who did Young Justice animation should jump onto this and make a series.
Wish more Wildstorm comic series would make it to absolute editions.
I loved The Lee/ Choi run on Wild C.A.T.s run. The Moore/ Charest run was excellent and deserves an Absolute. I wish they could find a way to integrate those characters into the main DC continuity.
They did get Grifter and Team 7 into the DC universe, along with some Authority characters. I wish Ellis’ Wildcats didn’t get cancelled!!
I just want them to relaunch Wildstorm and keep it going, you'd thing with Jim Lee as AIC at DC we'd get that but I guess not.
Its sad they couldn't make the new 52/DC Rebirth versions of Wildcats and The Authority , it would be epic to see the whole wildstorm universe as on going series ,
Wild C.A.T.s was unreadable until the Alan Moore run. He took all of that and made it make sense. Then the The Wilcats 2.0/3.0 was just magnificent! Untill Jim Lee made it end early to relaunch it witha new Number 1....and that was it. He sold out to DC and no more Wildcats. If they do an absolute on the Alan Moore issues or the 2.0/3.0 books I'm all in! This early stuff? Pass.
Hope a reprint will come 😮
Sadly at this point it's pretty much out of print... and expensive on Amazon. :(
Highly recommend giving the Joe Casey run a try. The 90s stuff isn't for everyone, but there's still a lot of Wildcats worth reading.
That book is currently selling for $400+ on eBay!
While I love the art, I kinda regret this purchase. After the first story arc, the storytelling really turns into a mess. More than I remember it being back when I was reading these for the first time in the 90's.
Amazon has this book for over $100!!! Pretty sure you can buy that entire 50 issue run for less than that.
Well this one is big and hardcover and slicase
What was retail? I missed the boat, and resale is crazy
I also loved the one issue of Grant Morrison Jim Lee Wildcats
This and The Authority are favorite graphic novels from wildstorm does anyone know any comic publisher or comic universe that resembles the wildstorm universe ?
Never got into these comics as a kid
Some say valiant comics is like the wildstorm universe ,
The art is incredible, but yeah, not sure if it's something I will re-read. The storytelling isn't totally consistent imo.
But man, that art is so good.
Worth reading these early WildCATS issues just for that killer Alan Moore run later on!
Warblade. His name is Warblade. I understand the blahblah90scomicname-istism happening here but
I want Jim Lee to start his own comic company and leave DC comics. I wish Jim Lee would create more Asian characters.
