Remember that this movie was made in 1934, on a limited budget. Back then, they were just learning, and having fun. They had to get those western movies started somewhere, and only a few years later they started making some of the best westerns ever made. Back in 1934 this was definitely a movie worth paying a nickel to see at the local theater. My grandparents went to see it, and enjoyed almost every minute of it.
Back then, afterwards on Sunday mornings, my girlfriend and I would go to one of the livery stables and rent horses for a few hours and race them to get our moneys worth of horse riding.
The ever-present Mason. Anyone notice Mason & Benson's blacksmith shop as the wagon rolled into town at the end of the film? That was used as JW And GH's business in The Lucky Texan.
I've seen Eleanor Hunt in 'Sinful Cargo' (1936), 'Bank Alarm' (1937), 'Navy Spy" (1937), and 'The Gold Racket' (1937), and just had to watch this to see her in an earlier film. Her Wild West persona here isn't as feminine as in the other movies, but that smile was already there. **The rest of her isn't bad, either.
If you look...a second book ( darker cover) was added to the counter ! And using the numeral 8 (which looks the same from either side of the window ) is genius ! Also...none of the bad guys are in the pass when they blew it up ! Great flick!
"Randy Rides Alone" shows his range as an actor...but yes...I rather like him as an gruff old codger...like Sheriff Jake Whitaker, in "Blue Steel"! They don't make .em like they used to !
90 years later and still here watching this, tather watch these than most of the new ones
We need small town theatres playing films like this.
That is a great idea 💡
John Wayne and George Hayes (Old Timer)together again! ❤️👍.

Awesome Awesome Awesome 👌
Another great John Wayne western.
Wish our younger generation would see movies like this!
Don't think these movies would hold their interest.
Excellent film. The horse riding chase scenes are exciting and real. The young lady is a good rider.

I've never noticed that ! ! ! ! Thank you Mr. Fletcher ! !
Thanks for upload!
Love it every time I watch it!❤
Thanks for sharing it! I always enjoy watching Old Western Movies though. 👍👌👏
An of course, I'm a subscriber!
Thanks Again Though.
John Wayne and Gabby Hayes in what will serve him well (and us) as his future persona take Blue Steel to classic western status.
WOW those Special Effects are wonderful
A simpler time. Good guy gets bad guy, then gets girl, then declares he is getting married.

*john got better with age*
I tried watching a colorized version and none of the voices were the same. Completely ruined it when you are familiar with the actors voices.
I hear you.
Did they at least get John Wayne's voice right?
Didn’t even know there was a colorized version I’ve only seen it in black and white
The book or where ever it was is" NOT" in the same spot as when he came from the safe. It's now closer to the edge.

Ain't been around long, friend.
I thought Hank Bell was in this
The young man couldn't find what?
He couldn't find where he had to go to become a couple!
Didn't like it when Gabby played a bad guy
