    Excellent set of cattle! That lil red bull calf looks like he's going to be something special.

    Beautiful & healthy cattle. Likely no flies because of the rotational grazing--getting rose cows to a fresh pasture free of Patties full of fly larvae.

    Thank you for the look. They look like they are doing so good on that pasture. You did a great job managing through the drought to get the pasture looking that good this year.

    How do you keep those bulls from breeding those yearling heifers?

      I took a chance for sure. Had one heifer come in heat and pulled her out. Will lutalyse her as a precaution.

    Cliff, do you rotate your cattle daily? If not can you explain what you do in terms of rotation/reducing pasture pressure?

    • @cliffhonnasregenerativerancher
      @cliffhonnasregenerativerancher  Год назад

      I don’t rotate daily. I just don’t have time to make that happen. The last few years I subdivided my pastures into 6-8 acre paddocks and rotated them every 3-4 days. This year, I’m putting them into 20-35 acre paddocks and leaving them till the grass is about 75-80% eaten. I’m loosely following the Total Grazing that Jim Elizondo espouses. Will see how that goes. It’s definitely a lot less work.

      @@cliffhonnasregenerativerancher Thank you for the quick reply. I have 6 of south poll. One of them has a calf. The rest are supposed to be bred. We are trying to figure out what is feasible for us. Right now we are trying to rotate them on about a 1/3 of an acre a day. We have about 14 acres. Pretty good grass. Two quick questions. 1. Are you coming to the south poll field day in Albertville Alavama this year? My grass tops have went to seed (fescue) Should I cut the tops off to spur growth underneath?

    They look Really Good. I know you rotate pasture very regular, but do you worm? I'm in North Louisiana and move daily with 28-35 rest on pasture.

    Do you have any plans to register the half South Poll heifers and start grading the half South Poll to full South Poll

    • @cliffhonnasregenerativerancher
      @cliffhonnasregenerativerancher  Год назад

      I haven’t put out the effort to see what to do or how to do it. I will investigate. Thanks!!

      @@cliffhonnasregenerativerancher from looking at the South Poll Cattle channel it seems easy enough, just will take a few years .
