Legends of the Scotch Community. Appreciate both of you, and the honest scotch opinions. Also the community building characteristics of your channels is supremely appreciated by all. Thank You. ❤❤🎉
Grand to have you back behind the Vpub bar! Grand evening spent in the company of barflies! Thanks for the wee call out for Kieran, he’ll be made up with that! Much love as always from the two of us
Catching up via replay and my God is it good to be back! Having started my whisky journey in 2020, it’s absolutely fascinating to hear about the early days of WhiskyTube and how folks might’ve connected and explored in a different era. Slainte for everything that you and Ralfy do, @Aqvavitae , and for blazing a trail for all of us to follow
Will be catching up the next few on the replay as we galavant around your wonderful country. So much beauty and welcoming people. We're thrilled that you were able to spend some time with you at the beginning of our trip. Much thanks from Michelle and I.
Welcome back Roy! Finally catching up with the last bit on the replay. / in the quiz. You definitely need to have a tour at Speyburn and see the old drum maltings (give me a shout if you are up this way). Seeing the old engravings and names written in to the wooden posts by the soldiers that were stationed there is pretty cool too. Lucky to have had a tour with Distillery Manager Euan and global ambassador Stuart. Up there with one of the best distillery tours I have ever had.
Now that sounds like an invitation I can’t refuse! (Actually up in Aberdeen today for a uni open day but no time for whisky shenanigans I was looking at Fettercairn) cheers Alasdair
So good to hear your voice again after a well deserved break! Love the new format for the OSWAs, and it was a pleasure to hear your discussion with clairvoyant Ralfy. I'm convinced he had a crystal ball on the shelf next him🔮!
So good to have you and the barflies back!!! Settling in on a rainy cold winter night in NZ with a nice dram.... My first Thompson Bros SRV5 a visitor from Europe kindly brought along... Cheers everyone and looking forward to the new vPub season!
I don't think you'll be surprised it was a cold and rainy night here too! Summer is a no show this year! Hope you fare better come whisky season - cheers Kiwigor!
Couldn’t make the live as was travelling back from work but just caught up. 7/10 on the quiz. It’s amazing what knowledge we pick up. Some of these questions I knew the answer too but couldn’t tell where I picked that knowledge up. But more than likely it was via osmosis from this wonderful community
Osmosis! Exactly, and despite the fact that none of it is necessary to enjoy it, we still pick up these wee gems. Cheers to you Alan and thanks for grabbing on replay!
Hello all. This is Ruth. I am new to vPub, somewhat new to whisky, and always learning. I learned about Aqvavitae and Ralfy from FirstPhilWhisky so a kind thank you to him and to you both for sharing you wealth of knowledge and experience. My holy grail at the moment is Laphoaig. I am headed to Scotland soon and looking forward sharing a dram with old and new friends. Sláinte.
Welcome onboard Ruth and thanks to Phil! I hope the trip work perfectly for you! Keep in touch and if you’re on Facebook there’s the Aqvavitae Barflies page for lots of insight and help 👍
The whisky dream team always a great watch. Welcome back Roy! Missed the live but caught up on replay while working today (friday). Looking forward to the OSWAs once again, my votes are in 🙂 6/10 in the quiz, I'll take that!
Great vPub as always Roy! Some good stories from you and Ralfy, a cat video bomb by Fluffy, and 9/10 in the quiz (missed the asshat). Looking forward to the OSWAs. I like the community nomination idea. That, along with the trifectas in 4 categories should make for some interesting nominations. Nice to have you back! Cheers!
Great Vpub and like the new idea of letting people vote to put their favourites down in each category. I am finding the hardest category is the IB. There is so many new and established IB companies bringing out fantastic whiskies. For me, it is hard to choose between Woodrows, Fragrant drops, Rare find and Murray McDavid.
Another very entertaining and great vPub! Thanks Roy for all the work - I almost feel the need to apologize for not commenting on the other vPubs that I've been able to (just) pick up on replay from a different account... Just that you know: I VERY much appreciate what you're doing for the community! And I do manage to watch most of the vPubs on replay, I just hope I might catch another one live in the future (which is quite hard right now with two little kids in the house, but, hey, I'm not complaining about that... 🙂)! Slàinte!
I look forward to the OSWA all year. It's my one proper night for my hobby that I will not miss now. Unfortunately I can't watch the Vpub live ever because of my work hours but I will not miss the OSWA's. Others have sports I have my whisky awards night. Thank you both for all that you do for our community!
Ahhh, it was a very tricky quiz, I'll be honest. come back next week for more punishment won't you though Michael? Much appreciated - I hope the chimpanzee caught a wee treat!
Re the whisky loch, it's not just scotch whisky. Chuck Cowdery wrote a piece on the "bourbon glut", which he wrote is happening now. Because I can't enter a link here, here's a quote and the cited article right after: _"In their most recent American whiskey analysis, as reported in Wine & Spirits Daily, Bernstein notes that current inventory levels in the wholesale and retail channels are higher than usual. The amount of whiskey aging in barrels is at historic highs, too. The 2022 inventory of 12.6 million barrels represents about 8.5 years of demand, a 150 percent increase over the previous decade."_ [Chuck Cowdery, _"Has the Next Great Whiskey Glut Begun?"_ The Chuck Cowdery Blog (on blogspot). So much to parse out here, we are very much in the same situation - in a general sense - and the years ahead need canny steps from all invested parties to navigate things and avoid another clumsy decline fuelled by greed. Cheers!
Started watching Ralfy’s videos in 2011, I guess. Had been enjoying whiskey for years, but Ralfy’s videos helped expand my whiskey horizons. Then, found Roy through Ralfy. Thanks, Ralfy!
You guys are awesome! The OSWAs is getting better and better every year with these little tweaks. Thank you and for everything you're doing for the Scotch whisky and online whisky community. Looking forward to the nominations and the ceremony itself which I will be able to catch this year! The didn't get me so I'm happy with an 8/10

Thanks for another Vpub Roy and Ralfy! I've missed it yesterday but just caught up and put in my nominatinos for the OSWAs
Thanks for the watch on replay and especially for taking part i the OSWAs 2024!
Welcome back Roy! Nominations sent in! Having said that, ralfy doesn't need an ass-hat, he's got an ass-cat 😆.
Very true - don't all cats do that? - Cheer Tim!

Nice first vPub after the summer break. Couldn't wait until I got home 🥰 so cought the replay at work, when doing some boring report work.
Don't get caught out Major! Thanks for catching it!
Roy, you're such a generous, welcoming and lovely man, thank you
Paul, likewise! You got me blushing! Now, please tell my family the same. Many thanks indeed!

Welcome back Roy! You’re holding on to that tan! It’s so good to have the vPub back. Thursdays are back to being normal again.
A wee bit of it left! Watch it fade as the Scottish weather beats us blue once more! Cheers Carlos
Another catch up session for me but great to have you back Roy, refreshed and raring to go.
Feeling the same Bob - good to have you!
Enjoying the replay! Great job! I really enjoy the early opportunity to contribute in the poll!!

A wee added benefit to this new feature is the effort it takes to define and refine it all - it's really hard to choose!
Well, last week didn’t go as planned, but finally got to listen. Welcome back Roy!
