The FM 24/29 light machine gun was a staple of the French military, seeing extensive service from its introduction in the late 1920s through to 2008. It was used in several major conflicts, including World War II, the First Indochina War, the Algerian War, and various colonial conflicts. Despite being gradually replaced in frontline units by more modern weapons after the 1960s, it continued to serve in reserve and specialized roles for decades. In total, around 182,000 units were produced, making it one of the most widely used light machine guns in French military history.

I totally agree -ridiculous off map- ruins the game as does a few other overpowered examples

The British WW1 127mm arty (60 pounder) was pretty much decommisioned by WW2. It was used in North Africa by the Aussies and by training centres elsewhere. In SD2 I think it's a 'nostalgia' weapon, with the call-in barrage being similar in density and longevity (at least in the game) to WW1 barraging tactics when it was used before infantry went 'over the top'. Ordinarily, it would have been used primarily in a 'creeping barrage' but the game doesn't have that function and the player using it didn't really make use of it. Agreed, inappropriate in a game like this. In a 10v10, if all allies had that division, they would be able to commit area denial for around 50 minutes. Yikes!

Interesting, I didn't know about those. In SD2 the game is using 5-inch rockets from LCT(R)s - basically landing craft with rocket batteries. According to the armory, they have 960 rockets for each off map.
You can find more info on them here: www.usni.org/magazines/naval-history-magazine/2021/june/rocket-ships

@@TooOldForG Oh yeah, you're right; they are rockets. Hmm. My mistake and apologies all round. Interesting info on them, thank you.
Still, too much, for too long, although the spread would be about right if they were fired from such a long range.
