  • Recently I re-discovered my love of these movies, more to the point the films main character of Number Five. I can relate to his innocence, to his eager optimism, and his constant misunderstanding of others.
I had this video idea in my heart for over a week now and the way I work, the only way I can get the idea out of my head frankly is to make it. Its how I operate. There are some random frame issues that affect the timing of some cuts which I am unhappy about but this was just a pet project I am not going to be a perfectionist about. The point is, the heart of it. I only hope you can see the heart of these movies, and my love of them through this video.
So here it is and hopefully one or two of you enjoy it.

Thank you for making this. You captured the beauty of the film perfectly. I used to be ashamed of still loving this movie after so many years, a movie that most people would call "corny" or dated. Recently, I showed it to my fiance, who greeted it with a resounding "meh." But seeing this video reminded me that the fun of this movie, as well as the things it had to say about the value of life, are timeless and precious to me. "Life is not a malfunction." J5 will always have a place in my heart.

Both Max Carl and Marcy Levy have had interesting career's both as performers and songwriters. Marcy was part of Eric Clapton's Band in the 70's and co-wrote and sings backup on his top 10 1978 hit 'Lay Down Sally'. She went on to sing back up on Johnny Lee's 1980 hit 'Lookin' For Love' and she co-wrote songs for Belinda Carlisle, Vixen, Chack Khan and others in the 80's. She had a #1 hit in 1992 as part of the duo Shakespeare's Sister with the song 'Stay'. Max has done a lot himself, just a few years after this song was recorded he joined 38' Special and sang on their 1989 hit 'Second Chance'.

Well, I'm running with the hare and hunting with the hounds about a remake. Yes, I would LOVE a remake but the robot HAS to be a real one and there has to be a family of a mother, a father, a teenage girl (who is stunningly beautiful and does not like Johnny (because he breaks her favourite (16th birthday vase) and a spunky son (who likes the robot best) and I hope that near the end of the reboot Johnny detects a fire (at midnight) before the smoke alarm sounds and everyone is able to get out before it's too late and a few hours or days later there is a "Does Johnny stay with us or does he go back to where he came from?" discussion between George and Nancy which ends with "Okay, he can stay.", (from NANCY)
