Oh yes. I LOVED this game when it came out. It’s still great. I really hope that you do Shadow of War. As always, great work. Keep it up
absolutely. shadow of war is awesome
Only game I pre-ordered. And shadow of war is still my favourite purchase
SoM and SoW are so cool
The nemesis system is one of the coolest things ive ever seen
talion always get to say all the cool lines such as "could you really rest for all eternity, knowing you had the chance to stop him but did nothing." and in shadow of war i really like his "as long as i have breath in my body, my fate is my own"
For standard white guy video game protags, Talion is by far my favorite
“I am one. But we are many” is my personal favorite of Shadow of war
@@truedarkness4052what has him being white have to do anything with that?
@@caliburn1123 Because it's the "Default". Gruff white guy with bulky body. Him being white isn't a problem, it'd be the same if black or asian was the default
Not to say that default is necessarily bad (For example, Talion) but it can be boring or repetitive
@@hazeltree7738 i wouldn't consider Talion as default or boring,
I'd rather take diversity and improvement in gameplay rather than diversity in the skin color.
The change is noticed by character and gameplay, otherwise it would be generic no matter the skin color.
Ayyyyy i just bought this game(yes i know I'm years late to this game) but it's freaking fun. Story is great and the game can be a little repetitive but it's still fun cause of the gore and the fluidity of the movement
The amount of different executions built in to the game based on enemy positions is astounding. And it only gets better in the sequel
@@corbintaylor9532 yes I'm planning to get the sequel soon!
@Pablo de la Fuente Carrasco oh you bet i will hahahaha
I got into the game years late myself too and honestly, it's aged like fine wine!
The sequel has some remnants of it's lootbox past, but it's genuinely better now than at launch.
Be careful with the sequel, its a mixed quality game.
I think it's awesome how they balanced Middle Earth lore, gameplay elements from great games like Arkham and AC and still have its own identity! Love both games!
I met Laura Bailey not long ago and I asked her to sing what she did from Shadow of Mordor and she did. Beautiful singing voice. I also have to say that she's is drop dead gorgeous in person and such a sweetheart.
Laura was one of three lady voice actresses I wanted to meet. The other two being Natalie Lander and Tara Strong, whom I've also met. All of them very classy ladies and so sweet to me and my daughter.
I started with shadow of war and immediately went and bought mordor. Just started mordor today and I already love it. I'm a huge Tolkien fan and so some lore breaks kinda tick me off but not enough to let me not enjoy this game just based off Tolkien's work. I personally love these games and shadow of war is the second game I've 100% on my new xbox. Love it. Awesome video my dude
most of the lore breaks are for the better imo, like the way talion powers work also breaks lore, but would you not want them in the game?
There's a LOT to read in the appendices, and it can be overwhelming at times, but I really enjoyed reading through it all, since it made me respect Tolkien's world building that much more
I do hope you intend to follow this up with shadow of war and it’s dlc. I know shadow of war was largely disliked, but it’s one of my favorite games out there.
Shadow of Wars story is still great but half the people who bash it are only Tolkien fans and they were worse than people who pick on Star Wars.
No offence
“That’s what’s got me hyped for the Amazon series.”
Well that didn’t age well.
As far as the nemesis system went, personally I never really took it too literally. I took pretty well to the combat in my second go-around, so I didn't develop nemeses, so much as "next targets".
Let's all be honest.
We all did it at least once. Where we jumped off a high place, landed on a ork, and just before assassinating him we whispered...
"I am the night. I am... Batman."
I loved the sequel (never actually finished SOM because i started it when years and years ago and don't have access to it any more) but I keep hoping for a final 3rd game to round out the trilogy where you conquer all of Middle-earth or maybe even try (and fail) to lay seige to Valinor
In game your son is the only character that can mimick your fighting style which is a great detail
Literally just started a replay when I discovered your channel. Great video dude. I love these games and another lotr game I love is War in the North. The latter Wasn’t mind blowing but was a fun action rpg to play over a weekend
Why this review is ten times better than the rest on RUclips?
I really enjoyed this game due to it being a much more brutal lotr Arkham game with a very unique system
And that ending that cliffhanger made me hyped for shadow of war
Saying I’m a guy who has played not only the classic shadow of Mordor which came out for PS3 and also the new shadow of Mordor I can agree that shadow of Mordor is a great game and also one of the first I’ve ever played and so is shadow of war I can not stress enough how Much I love all 3 shadow games and how important the are to me because of the first video games I’ve ever played and I would play them over and over and over, and enjoy every last bit of detail put into them.
2 things about this game I love. 1. I never knew two Crit Rol people were in it 2. I was so full of surprise and fury when my most hated nemesis came back from the dead outside the Tower’s fortress it was amazing
I'd like to think Dirhael was a good fighter. It's just that once your sword breaks, you either run or lose. They shouldn't have split up.
My crowning achievement in this game was grinding hours and hours to take over every single captain, have them pass their bodyguard test for a single unbranded Warchief, then challenge him. He walks out to face the Gravewalker with nearly two dozen of the strongest orcs in mordor by his side, then watches as I do a little trick with my hands that instantly explodes every last one of their heads. The only time I've ever seen a Warchief get terrified.
God damn it, I need to go to bed but I guess I'm watching this now
I agree with your opinion about the Black Hand boss fight taking place as a QTE. Besides, Talion's bleeding to death at that point in the game. He doesn't have time for a longer fight.
This game made me giggle as I decapitated 100ths of Orcs/Urukais... and so a new kink was born.
Personally I feel you with the lack of a nemesis. my uruk was some random resurrected uruk cause he survived 3 encounters with me by running away everytime, yes I've died before but it took a lot to kill me at all, which I think was Shadow of Mordor's biggest fault: you can just counter pretty much everything and if they are a defender and immune to everything just get one of your uruks to beat them up and either kill them or brand them to your side. its sad but still a very fun game to enjoy from time to time.
Now I want to see a review of Shadow of War!
When I played this game I made super warchiefs before branding them for the final battle it was war
Literally my two most favorite games of all time in this series. Can't wait to see what you say!
this video should be at least double in length
Both are still 12 out of 10 for me. Love both of them!!
It's a crime that we keeping getting shitty BR games when that style got old years ago, yet here we have a completely new and unique, amazing system that has only ever been used twice, and by the same developers.
I wish they would have used this system in Star Wars.
Celebrimbor in the Shadow of Mordor series might not be canon, and a lot about this game gets on my nerves in regard to Tolkien's Lore, but I have to admit Celebrimbor's portrayal and personality is done well, taking into account he's Feanor's grandson. Grandson to the greatest crafter who was so obsessed, he swore an oath that would lead his descendants to butcher friends and allies to gain his creations back. Celebrimbor as he lived in beleriand might not've been the type to agree with feanor at all, but his corruption as a result of being in contact with sauron is something I can believe 100%, just a shame we didn't get to see his arrow-feathered corpse being used as sauron's banner as it was in the books.
Great work as always.
Though if I could I’d like I suggest a game to feature, Okami
Wait, is the Nemesis system named "nemesis" because some orc should be your enemy? I only played Shadow of War and started on Nemesis difficulty... and I did die a couple of times in total, but never twice to the same guy. I guess I missed a part of the system then.
It's nice to know someone knows their Middle Earth lore than just from the films
Actually you get his son's broken sword back it's just... different by the canonical ending.
Ah...the Nutcracker, A marche, its just so nostalgia-invoking.
As a fan of the Legendarium I hate how often these games get written off because of their canonicity and liberties.
Yeah they make up a lot of stuff but there's a solid narrative in there and the gameplay, atmosphere (especially in Mordor), aesthetic, Nemesis System and voice cast deserve far more respect then they get. It's almost the Force Unleashed of Middle-Earth, non canon and over the top but a solid story carried by a solid gameplay loop.
Anyone else have Thrak the Merciful as their rival?
YEEEEESSSSSS!!!! My boy Liam O’Brien getting some well deserved attention for an amazing role.
This was great even though ive never played the game i love the way you talk about things hopefully ill get to see you win infamous second son :)
Yes
As similar this game is to Arkham games, I'd still always be down to a sequel to either.
Arkham vsmes make you feel like Batman, while the Mordor games are jist as fun gameplay wise, bit adding that fantasy and brutally to it.
I'd love a 3rd Mordor game. ... Will it ever happen?
I advise to get shadow of war right after finishing this game highly recommend
this game was the best. i wish more games looked like this.
I really like how positive this channel is... keep it going 🤘
Shadow of Mordor is really fun and you can feel the respect for Tolkiens works. As you said, I play it more for the fun, solid gameplay than the story, but the story isn't entirely bad either.
Also: SoM is the best Assassins Creed game. Change my mind
i would love if u culd do the second game as well, great video btw
I am currently playing shadow of war but I did not play shadow of morder and I do regret not getting it but I love all of the game for what it is
I stumbled onto this channel about a week ago and I'm fucking hooked! Fantastic content my dude!
I absolutely love the nemesis system and I still do to this day!
Enjoyed this very much on Xbox 360, sad with the the shitty graphics and glitches but I loved playing it, want to play it again!
I never played shadow of Mordor, I did play shadow of war though. And that game was try amazing (know I only started playing after micro transactions were removed).
Typo
Nice bo Burnham reference
need a shadow of war video
Please do a video for the “For Honor” Campaign
So,when's the "Everything great about shadow of war" coming?
that was amazing, you made many great insights that made me like the story that much more, shadow of war next? though i assume that's going to take a while considering how much bigger of a game it is (and that's okay! quality always over quantity), i especially love how you showed alot more details on celebrimbor's manipulations, made me realize that's he's similar to sauron in more ways than "haha i want to dominate the world too"
In my top 10 favorite games of all time for sure
Please do Lord of the rings - War of the North
are you gonna do the Soulsborne games?
this game's combat is inspired a lot from arkham combat
Asking for Metal Gear Solid series just like Dartigan did, episode 2
Do Shadow of War pls
YES 3 AM VIDEO FOR MY ANXIETYYYYYY
one of my all time favorite games
Kinda curious if monolith wil make third game with eltariel as protagonist
GW can you do sc1 abd sc2 next and sc2 is wol, hots, lotv and nova covert ops
hope you're gonna do another one about Middle-earth: Shadow of War
Man I'd really love to see some videos about Halo
Gameplay was pretty fun thats for sure, and at least in this one they somewhat respected the lore of tolkien altough screwing up the timelines massively. Its a shame they messed it up with Shadow of War so badly, altough the main story is decent and gameplay in general are still good, they completely broke it with the nazgul sisters and the Galadriel DLC, at least for me. Just doesnt sit right turning the 2 of the 9 Kings in to queens all of a sudden.
And about the nemesis system, moreso in Shadow of War than Mordor: It depends on the difficulty choosen. Unless you play on the higher or highest difficulties the nemesis system wont really work cause its toned down to a point where alot of its features are disabled. At least for SoW this leads to a mayor problem, playing the highest or second highest difficulties and having a bit of bad luck can lead to more or less a stop in proggression overall. Uruks killing you often gain 10+ levels, let that happen often enough and the game becomes work instead of fun, because its a slog and really exhausting to try level Talion up when you cant really kill any captains anymore, which is sometimes required by the story to progress, therefore leading to a stop.
Anyway great video overall, glad a found your channel a week back, really enjoying it keep it up^^
Please do the next game
I would love it if you did everything great about demons souls
PLEASE do a shadow of war video too
This was like one of the first M rated games I ever played and I was like 8. Now, that may explain some things, but also I LOVE THIS F*CKING GAME! I didn’t have to censor that. But I did.
I like the nemesis system but as stated it was too easy so I hardly got to see any of it. You could turn the difficulty up but all that does is make the many random mobs surrounding you more annoying and the fights far less engaging and just more annoying. The most fun I had with the system myself was one guy that just kept surviving my attempts to kill him. He came back like 5 times. That being said, the game wouldn't be anything without it.
Ah a man of culture I see
Just so you know, even if it’s still a good game, the serie was poursuit, the successor of Tolkien (Christopher Tolkien and the other Tolkien’s children) were not ask about the games and when the second was release they were not happy about it…
But still, a really good game
should've included Shadow of War as they're practically the same game.
Great game win, hope to see you win Arkham knight
Do shadow of war next please
Plz i hope one dat you will do a witcher 3 episode cuz you will fucking love it
Please do everything great with infamous second son
Get thus man to 100k
hmm maybe next up . everything great about Assasin's Creed revalations ? just an idea
Man can you please do half life 1(It can be Black mesa)
I've been looking forward to this
So when is Arkham knight coming out
You know nothing Troy Baker-- oh shit, wrong series.
Spoilers, I guess.

Played this game again after Shadow of War and the Bright Lord DLC, and man, Celebrimbor really is one of the best characters of these games. Guy's a manipulative bastard who ultimately ends up being no better than Sauron.
Celebrimbor's arc is kinda brilliant and I'm curious to see if a third game continues his story
@@ItsButterBean1020 but who would be the main character
@@nathanthomson777 no idea
I’ve heard they might have Eltariel or a new character as the lead but that is from rumours rather then anything else
@@ItsButterBean1020, if Eltariel is the main character, you can count me out.
@@nathanthomson777 Talion gets resurrected again lmao.
I feel I am always finding new roles that the Critical Role cast has done. Never new that Laura and Liam were in this game and Liam did an incredible job with Gollum.
Liam doing Gollum is always the most bizarre thing that I forget for a while until I'm reminded again and have to be like "That tracks, but I'm also endlessly impressed."
@@IcepersonYT Makes sense but confusion
@@IcepersonYT I just want to see the video of Liam jumping on his home entertainment system as he was acting like Gollum in his home.
The voice isn't the only thing he can do. He went full andy serkis for it because that is the kind of Tolkien nerd he is.
7:16 travis too
I recently found out about Matt and Liam's role in titanfall 2
3:52 I seriously love this. Sure, these games bend a lot of the lore, but it's clear the writers have actually done their research and know what they're playing with. There are many references that are lost to casual fans, but really satisfying to people who have read the Silmarillion.
Finding Gorlim's fossilised skull as an artifact was one of the most interesting small things in this game.
I personally had a SPRAWLING narrative with one particular Uruk captain that killed me over, and over, and over again until he was one shotting me time and time again, I even killed him five times without decapitating him before I F I N A L L Y got a decapitation on him...GOD I love the nemesis system! Greatest thing in any game ever, until Ghost of Tsushima had enemies that become terrified of you and run away because they're not stupid lol
This game came so unexpected for me. I bought it for LOTR stuff, but story never let me go. One of the best games of 2014, along side with Transistor.
Currently playing tru Transistor after beating Bastion 3 times.
Spoiler
Btw... has anyone let Zhul die in the last mission?
I just couldn't do it.
Great video. Personally, I liked shadow of mordor more for the gameplay than for the story but also enjoyed the story. You actually emphasized the idea of Celebrimbor not actually having amnesia but manipulating Talion, which is a nice thing. The story ain't groundbreaking but it is pretty solid and fun to experience.
However, I LOVE shadow of war. Especially for it's story because we dive even deeper into Talion's psyche and motivations. Would love to see a gamingwins video on that one!
Top 10 in my favorite games, definitely worth playing a couple times. It would be cool to see some Xbox games on here too.
Dude. You did your Tolkien research. Loved the connection with Fingolfin. Mad respect!
The 2 Shadow games were brilliant, espescially the Nemesis System. Too bad there doesnt seem to be any plans for a sequel
Man I played this game like 4 times. Gonna really enjoy this video.
I cannot express how glad I am to see a review of this game from someone who knows more about LotR than just the movies.
