Transplanting soil which contains mycorrhizal fungi is a unique idea. Although it seems plausible to improve the soil quality this way, we also need to take into consideration the chances for those fungi to colonize the arid soil. Instead of randomly transplanting the soil, it might be better to transplant the soil closer to plants (shrubs and small trees) since mycorrhizal fungi interacts with plant roots. This way, the plants and fungi can thrive better by establishing a mutualistic relationship.
It seems to me that it's not good enough to transplant fungi, but you also must provide it with a food source, say rotting wood. Also, another question what is the history of this land? Did it have trees on it naturally and why are they not there now? What species naturally grew there before it was disturbed?
That's a really good idea
Thank you for your work

Interesting idea👍
Soil inoculation is a practice older than most people realize
An interesting experiment , please keep us updated.

What appropriate food & conditions are in place at the new location for the fungi to both survive & thrive ?
I wonder if anyone has done a study on how solid depth affects the fungi population? Do some fungi only live 2m or 5 m down?
He looks like a Fun Guy...!
Thats what the fungii want you to think
