The synth voice is Paul, the Guttural one is Marc Martins and the lyric one is Miguel "Moe" Espinosa. The awesome solo guitarist by the way is Carlos Lozano, wich is also my guitar teacher for years now 😄
This was actually pretty entertaining reaction video. And I can really recommend Persefone for you. The Majestic of Gaia from Spiritual Migration is one of my favorite songs
If you like this you should really check out Ne Obliviscaris! React to their video for the song "Curator", which actually is just a part of a longer song. (Triptych Lux) Just as Persefone, they combine brutal parts with calm parts and creates something fucking magical.
Christian Lazo Yeah anything from Ne O would be awesome, its just that the video for Curator is the only one that isnt just recorded at a live show with poor audio.
Can't recommend NeO enough (new album this year!), absolutely insane group. Right alongside them I always include Xanthochroid, a very similar and also exceedingly excellent group (and currently working on a new double album!).
The Vocalist of Cynic is singing as a guest on this song.(Clean vocal one) And the screaming vocal is a member of the band and he sings in clean vocal too.
I'm pretty sure you got it all wrong xD The guitar player (and vocalist) of Cynic made the first guitar solo in the song. The clean vocals are probably only the keyboard player, maybe Paul sang too but I think he only did the solo.
Oh man, I'm so glad that Persefone has grew to this point. From a guy who saw their videos with 1k views and 10 likes some years ago.. this makes me so fucking HAPPY. YAY GO GUYS !
The Contortionist - Language Parts 1&2 and/or Primordial Sound Eidola - The Comfort We Find in Our Vices Disperse - Enigma of Abode Monuments - Origin of Escape
Please react to Death - Lack of Comprehension "Featuring Paul Masvidal. I don't know who that is..." BRUH he's one of the greatest guitar players of all time. He's also in the music video for "Lack of Comprehension" by Death.
like the content man, if you haven't listened to The Black Crown Initiate, listen to the song selves we cannot forgive, if you like the contrast of beauty and melodic sound mixed with heavy breakdown sections, that song is a good way to start, or the fractured one which is straight brutal. think you'd dig them
Paul Masvidal is the singer/guitarist for cult metal band Cynic. He often uses a vocoder which you can hear in the beginning of this song as well. The song Evolutionary Sleeper from their album Traced in Air is my favorite but most of their stuff is pretty trippy and interesting.
Love the channel, man. You should check out "While She Sleeps" from the U.K. Amazing switches in style in the middle of their songs. "Silence Speaks," "Four Walls," or "Brainwashed" from them are masterpieces.
Three vocalists. Paul Masvidal used a vocoder for the effect in the beginning. Miguel Espinoza, who also plays keyboard, normally does the clean vocals. He's the one you like. Mark Martins Pia is the screamer, having replaced lead guitarist Carlos Lozano Quintanilla in that role. Check out "Purity" for only Miguel's vocals.
The first vocal you hear in the song are by Paul Masvidal and the growling guy and the guy who sing clean in the middle of the song while playing keybord is in the band :)
gotta love your reaction dude, having seen some video reaction I think yours is way better. One minuto of song and you are like hoooo boy I'm so fucking happy discovering this band!! Thy happy faces :)
No, but this was a confusing starter track. Clean/vocoder vocals are mostly Paul Masvidal, might be some from keyboardist too. See song "Cynic - True Hallucination Speak". Persefone for the most part do Death metal vocals with clean vocals in. See song "Persefone - Spiritual Migration", but also personal favorite (no video) "Persefone - The Majestic of Gaia". Cynic has went through a lot of changes over the years and Old Cynic from the album "Focus" is in more of of 90's Death Metal with progressive leanings. Persefone clearly drew quite a bit of inspiration from Cynic and so many fans found this to be a love letter to Progressive/technical metal. Another connection is Paul also along with follow Cynic band member drummer Sean Reinert were on Death album "Human". Death in the mid 90's til Chuck's death was also deemed a important band in the Prog/Tech Metal scene. Oh, and yes I'm suggested the music. Listen to both bands even if you are not able to do reviews of them. Good stuff.
Tesseract is a great modern progreasive metal band inspired in Meshuggah like Animals as leaders and others that you liked, listen to Tesseract - Canceling fate Acceptance live studio.
"The scream evokes more emotion when it's used less." Amazing, that's exactly what I'm discovering along my path to music and life, some years ago I was into pretty extreme stuff, now I still fucking love screaming but I've been heading to way more melodic stuff, this song of Persefone is such a masterpiece in that matter!!
I love Persefone. They're from Andorra, a micronation in Europe. Between the Buried and Me - The Coma Machine is another great band/song. Also, Famine Wolf is another great song by Between the Buried and Me. Another good band to check is FourFive, especially the song Faith, and anything off their new album is also really good.
They are my favorite band (I'm from Andorra btw) and BTBAM are my second favorite band hehe. They are brutal and Blake Richardson is a f**kin god!! The Coma Machine is a wonderful cd and I love the end of Famine Wolf.
Paul masvidal was in a number of projects but his biggest I would say was the extremely influential cynic btw persefone last album spiritual migration is one of my favorites of all time...
ANIMALS AS LEADERS - Cognitive Contortions (Music Video) thats a song of new album and first music video from it. came up couple days ago. Thats a fucking sick song with awesome drumming and sick thumping!!
I see people are recommending Ne Obliviscaris and I definitely have to back them on that. I'd also like to recommend my personal favorite band - Mechina. These two guys (and girl) deserve way more recognition. Best way to describe them is a very symphonic and cybernetic death metal band with some of the most epic sounding soundtrack-like orchestra behind the music. Absolutely cannot recommend these guys enough. Each album has different sound because they are all parts of an overall connecting sci-fi story and each album carries a different set of emotions with it. I would recommend the albums Xenon or As Embers Turn to Dust as a start starting point; and songwise: Tartarus, Phedra, Planetfall, and Division Through Distance.
I got 3 suggestions for you man Dethklok - I Ejaculate Fire. They're a melodeath cartoon band from Metalocalypse, the greatest show to exist HUNG - Primeval. They're Progressive/Djent Arcania - Rise and Never Fall. They call themselves Progressive Thrash, guy has amazing vocals EDIT: or for something a little lighter, how about SpecialThanks - YOU=MUSIC I LOVE it's 10/10 and her voice is so relaxing
Ghost Iris - Euphoric State (Some Kind of Video). They are a small band but I like them. Video is something different. You will love the singer. Trust me!
I'm gonna say it till you watch it, but you should really try "Wintersun - Sons of winter and Stars". You just have to look at the title to realise it's going to be epic :)
Hey GalacticCriminal. You should give Jinjer one more watch the song you reviewed wasn't nearly as interesting as a lot of their other stuff. Their new video for the song Pisces and the song I Speak Astronomy are much more of the style that you will enjoy.
I landed here from the BTBAM react video, I see why he liked Persefone more, it's more his style, less screaming and still awesome music. Still, there are other amazing songs by BTBAM that maybe he'd like more.
Paul Masvidal is awesome. Cynic is a fantastic band. Look them up, since Paul sings just like he does here. EDIT - Aside from checking out Cynic, GC... BTBAM - "The Coma Machine" I'm tellin ya.
The synth voice is Paul, the Guttural one is Marc Martins and the lyric one is Miguel "Moe" Espinosa. The awesome solo guitarist by the way is Carlos Lozano, wich is also my guitar teacher for years now 😄
Spiritual Migration is a masterpiece!
Mind as Universe by Persefone is a must-listen.
Also you should check out The Ocean. Either The Grand Inquisitor II: Roots & Locusts or Bathyalpelagic II: The Wish in Dreams.
Dude I love your new intro! Thanks for doing my request this was a great video! :)
This was actually pretty entertaining reaction video. And I can really recommend Persefone for you. The Majestic of Gaia from Spiritual Migration is one of my favorite songs
daspasunata That's the song that got me into the band, that clean voice was unexpected for me haha
daspasunata That part where the keyboards come in and meshes with the guitar, amazing
Spiritual Migration one of my favorite albums of all time, Majestic of Gaia/Consciousness instrumental some of my favorite songs of all time
Inner fullness is the best song on that album
That whole album is stellar...
If you like this you should really check out Ne Obliviscaris! React to their video for the song "Curator", which actually is just a part of a longer song. (Triptych Lux) Just as Persefone, they combine brutal parts with calm parts and creates something fucking magical.
Jakini also And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope live in Colorado
Christian Lazo Yeah anything from Ne O would be awesome, its just that the video for Curator is the only one that isnt just recorded at a live show with poor audio.
Jakini yea he should I'm glad he's reacting to stuff i really like now that being this and native construct
Can't recommend NeO enough (new album this year!), absolutely insane group.
Right alongside them I always include Xanthochroid, a very similar and also exceedingly excellent group (and currently working on a new double album!).
OH YeAH! he will fucking love Ne Obliviscaris! :)
Check out The Majestic of Gaia by Persephone. It will change your life. It's literally insane.
Devin Townsend - Deadhead live at Royal Albert Hall. Believe me.
Andrei Deaconu One of the best live songs
Just wow! This is how you discover great piece of music. Thank's man!
Wow cool to see that you reacted to that! You should really listen to Aathma it's beyond amazing!
The Vocalist of Cynic is singing as a guest on this song.(Clean vocal one)
And the screaming vocal is a member of the band and he sings in clean vocal too.
There are two vocalist in Persefone, Miguel who do the clean and Marc who do the screaming
Oh, didn't know that. Thanx
I'm pretty sure you got it all wrong xD
The guitar player (and vocalist) of Cynic made the first guitar solo in the song.
The clean vocals are probably only the keyboard player, maybe Paul sang too but I think he only did the solo.
JanTomas123 Ah, then i was totally wrong😂
Thank you Jam Tomas123 and sorry for everyone who lead my comment
+JanTomas123 It's obviously Paul who sing in the two first minutes.
One of my alltime faves! Glad you liked it :D
hey and they even have a samurai themed album "Shin-Ken" its about Miyamoto Musachi
FOR THE LOVE OF METAL, check out Lost In the Static by After the Burial. More strings, more metal.
Yes!! He will will fucking love that song! Collapse would be great as well.
John Ho
I agree
John Ho this
Oh man, I'm so glad that Persefone has grew to this point.
From a guy who saw their videos with 1k views and 10 likes some years ago.. this makes me so fucking HAPPY.
YAY GO GUYS !
The Contortionist - Language Parts 1&2 and/or Primordial Sound
Eidola - The Comfort We Find in Our Vices
Disperse - Enigma of Abode
Monuments - Origin of Escape
I always say: the best reaction guy.
He comments with right words in appropriate moments.
Paul Masvidal's is the one with the robotic vocoder vocals and plays the first guitar solo. Persefone is so good though!
you meant 5:14 - 5:32 solo? Because its totally sounds like what Paul used to write for Cynic.
Aathma is an Masterpiece and i am so happy see Persefone on 17th April in Essen Germany, with an Interview with Marc and Moe
"The scream evokes more emotion when it's used less." You are a connoissuer Pete ! This is an ultra cool band, I loved this song.
That isn't always the case, different types of growls/screams can evoke emotion well regardless of timing or the involvement of cleans.
I've become a huge fan of this band too, from this song. Off to see them live next week. Stoked!
Please react to Death - Lack of Comprehension
"Featuring Paul Masvidal. I don't know who that is..." BRUH he's one of the greatest guitar players of all time. He's also in the music video for "Lack of Comprehension" by Death.
Black Crown Initiate - Great Mistake. OR Withering Waves as that is super bad ass also.
like the content man, if you haven't listened to The Black Crown Initiate, listen to the song selves we cannot forgive, if you like the contrast of beauty and melodic sound mixed with heavy breakdown sections, that song is a good way to start, or the fractured one which is straight brutal. think you'd dig them
This is awesome, never heard of this band...thanks for the suggestion man :D
really digging your content \m/
Thanks man
Paul Masvidal is the singer/guitarist for cult metal band Cynic. He often uses a vocoder which you can hear in the beginning of this song as well. The song Evolutionary Sleeper from their album Traced in Air is my favorite but most of their stuff is pretty trippy and interesting.
This. Like... "Paul Masvidal, I don't know who that is." Really, bro...
Between the Buried and Me "The Coma Machine"
TheAttackbeaver that song is incredible!!!
Love the channel, man. You should check out "While She Sleeps" from the U.K. Amazing switches in style in the middle of their songs. "Silence Speaks," "Four Walls," or "Brainwashed" from them are masterpieces.
You must check Cynic "How Could I" live at Wacken!!
Let me recomendate you the previous albums Spiritual Migration and Shin-Ken. They are astonishing.
Spiritual Migration is a mind-blowing album.
gotta love your reaction dude, having seen some video reaction I think yours is way better.

Watching some of your old videos, it really seems like you've come out of your shell in the last year
Tesseract is a great modern progreasive metal band inspired in Meshuggah like Animals as leaders and others that you liked, listen to Tesseract - Canceling fate Acceptance live studio.

"The scream evokes more emotion when it's used less."

Above This Burning Sky
Cool reaction and a new band for me to check out, feeling some Mudvayne in these guys and that can only be a good thing, maybe just me eh :)
The guest vocalist there is from the band cynic. The one growling is their true vocalist. He has great clean vocals too.
Actually, he doesn't. Marc Martins doesn't do the clean vocals. That's Miguel Espinosa, the keyboardist
Maylene and the Sons of Disaster - Tough As John Jacobs
Turmion Kätilöt - Grand Ball feat. Peter Tägtgren :)
Holy shiiiiiiiit this started and I was not sure at first. But then I was like Fuck I'm buying this
I landed here from the BTBAM react video, I see why he liked Persefone more, it's more his style, less screaming and still awesome music. Still, there are other amazing songs by BTBAM that maybe he'd like more.
React to "Singularity" by Adeversary and to "Revolution" by Lazarus AD

Paul Masvidal is awesome. Cynic is a fantastic band. Look them up, since Paul sings just like he does here.
EDIT - Aside from checking out Cynic, GC... BTBAM - "The Coma Machine" I'm tellin ya.
Not knowing Paul and too many childish hats ... almost perfect
