To be free from ego suspends being judgemental by nature and opens to you the world as a whole living being, not just the planet we live on. Peter, thank you for Being.
I am completely fascinated by Peter. He has a profound systemic understanding and a wonderful coherence of cognition and emotion. And he is not afraid of putting his social existence at stake for the ultimate good cause.
He's just a person, we all are. He's a fantastic mathematician and climate scientist, and no doubt a man of steel standing against bigpetrol openly, but we all should do that. And we all live here on this planet with so much life that doesn't understand why they're dying and how culpable we are. We are stewards of death if we aren't against this.
I honestly think the way we need to frame this is to do it for the Planet, and for all the life *apart* from us that we haven't killed off yet. Paradoxically i think if we do this, rather than make it for our kids or grandkids, we will think and act holistically enough to actually see all the variables and get a handle on all the levers of action and change for us to survive. It could take millions of years before life comes back, and because of the tipping points and it happening so quickly maybe it never will. Plus, and this is the bit that really gets my goat, we are *choosing* to go extinct. We actually know exactly what we are doing, have done for ages, and how not to do it, we just can't change and adapt. a few more years of mindless consuming is better than a possible eternity of surviving on the planet and then going to the stars.
I don't think that will work. Because it suggest that there is an argument or motive at all that can motivate those with power to act, especially one that is not utterly selfish in nature. Which I don't believe for a second there is.

I just heard about Peter Kalmus minutes ago and I found this video. It was a Facebook post that was quoting him. I can’t lie, I immediately questioned whether he was just using his credentials to capitalize off of an extreme position that many people silently support. After listening to him here i can tell he knows his stuff. I want to believe him but only if he agrees that we cannot continue to operate on a global socio-economic system that absolutely requires infinite growth on a planet with finite resources. He is basically saying we should eat the rich and make resource management one of the most important daily concerns of all human beings on this rock.
Videos that talk about standing up for the right thing, whether it be justice or climate change, will never ever garner more than a few hundred likes. Gonna do whatever I can to spread Peter's name to my friends and fam.

This isn't self sacrificial, this is selfishness in a very healthy way, it's looking after one's home, one's body, and cocreating with others to serve others as well in a tangible way, and also encourage others to look after themselves as well, which is not separate from looking after the planet.
Please can you mention at least once the impact of our behaviors on the most vulnerable parts of the world (mining for lithium killing all forms of live for our green capitalist society, etc.). As much as i admire Dr. Kalmus and other passionate activists like him, I fear you are causing more damage than any progress. These protests do not translate to others well which is wiping out the would be passionate army of climate supporters of the near future. We can't fight this one like the activists for civil rights did in the 60's. This is a money game.
