As someone who rode the Sonic Spinball, its other defining feature is that it had voiceover from Roger Craig Smith playing during the line and the ride, his first role as Sonic actually. I actually got stuck on the ride and Sonic was saying stuff about Eggman breaking down the ride and having to go defeat him
Another fun fact - they also had a Sonic themed hotel to go along with the ride which had a Green Hill Zone themed room and a PS3/Wii loaded with Sonic games, as well as Sonic merch being in the gift shop - still got my Sonic trucker cap from there
If you ever make a part 2, there's an Angry Birds land in Thorpe Park in the UK which has a drop tower, 4D cinema and bumper cars which closed last year. Also, Toyland Tours had its own Sonic music in the Genesis style at Alton Towers
Hey man this was a really cool and interesting video 🙂. If you make part 2 pleade include uncharted at portadventura. I cant believe no one has mentioned it but its an impecably themed intamin multi directional coaster with themeing done by sally dark rides, its incredible. Oh and i think other commenters mentioned it but there was a few angry birds rides at thorpe park including a 4d cinema and drop tower
Sally dark rides also has angry birds the dark ride in its catalogue of rides on there website ( from what I can tell I believe it's a shooting ride). There does appear to be an angry birds dark rides in Istanbul though .
Its so cool to know that both sonic and Pac-Man were at one point part of six flags and epcot but what makes the Pac-Man one more fascinating is that they went out of there way to create costumed versions of both Pac-Man and Ms Pac-Man but outside of that there hasn't been something like that and given his recent popularity I think the world could very well benefit from another Pac-Man themed park area or better yet an entire theme park based on Pac-Man Now that would really be cool
For context with the Pac-man and Ms. Pac-man costumes, they were designs by famed puppet producers Sid and Marty Krofft. Y'know, the guys behind stuff like H.R. Pufinstuf, Liddsville, Land of the Lost and, more famously, getting screwed by Ray Kroc's McDonald's corporation when they stole ideas from them for McDonaldland. But in this instance, they were ride and costume designers for Six Flags at the time, as it was before they got the Looney Tunes and DC Comics licenses. Even then, Pac-man was part of a much larger kids area that included, of all 80s cartoons, The Shirttales.
Gotta say, this is a pretty well done video! The only notable video game theme park attraction you didn't mention was the fact that there's an Uncharted ride in PortAventura. Well, that and the numerous SegaWorld locations in spots like London and Sydney, but those are probably worth their own separate videos anyway. Also, I completely forgot there was a Rabbids ride at one point. I wonder if it's still operational?
This was really neat (dang Mexican Bowser was terrifying O.o) but could you talk about SegaWorld Sydney and the other SegaWorld locations? I know you might've considered them more arcades than theme parks but they were sorta on the brink of this idea!
In addition to Kings Island, Kings Dominion in. Virginia had their own Tomb Raider ride too, but it was just an outdoor top spin. And Canada’s Wonderland in Ontario had a Tomb Raider coaster, but from what I’ve heard it’s not that good.
9:36 they also kept the Sonic statue in Alton Towers, apparently you could see him when riding a gondola ride there. Not sure if it's still there now but I heard people talk about it a year or 2 ago. Another thing, I believe the Sonic walkaround mascot still sees use at Alton Towers, but I'm also not 100% sure about that.
There was a cancelled crash bandicoot themed land planned for universal studios back when they still owned the rights. And the mascot appeared in the parks until 2012
the AR on the mario ride is from passable to horrible. the little effects they do on the track and how it switches over from track to track and makes you feel like you’re moving faster is really cool. the racers and stuff on the track are annoying because they’re way too close to you and the game element is both confusing and painful. i couldn’t tell how i was getting shells and to actually fire the shells you have to move your head to aim them but there’s no reticle or anything so most of the time you’ll just miss. i’d recommend just taking the glasses off
I live near where one of the pac man six flags lands was, there are actually still a few remnants of it, one of which is actually the entirety of the pac man Ferris wheel still being there it’s been repainted and the pac man design is still on it
Cool fact about the genesis section at Epcot was there was an area dedicated to the Sega Channel, an add-on for the system that allowed you to download games to it (very ahead of its time). One of the games playable there at one point was actually Garfield Caught in the act, which had some levels exclusive to the Sega channel that are now lost. Some of the only footage of those levels online comes from the Epcot pavilion, so that’s kinda neat. As for my wish, I’d love a dueling roller coaster themed to Splatoon. Come on it just makes sense.
If you make a part 2 can you add angry birds land at thrope park in englinind. The land had some flat rides a drop tower and a 4d attraction all themed after angry birds. Sadly they removed the angry birds theming from the land this year most likely due to the licensing expiring but it's still crazy that there was a angry birds themed land at a theme park at one point.
I went on the Mario Kart ride. The AR goggles showcase the racers and other enemies, and you are supposed to launch koopa shells at enemies and opposing racers. The idea is that you're on Team Mario, and your opponents are Team Bowser. You gain couns for hitting Team Bowser racers, but lose coins for hitting Team Mario racers. No matter what happens, Team Mario always wins. You just compete to see how many coins you can get among the other riders. Without the AR game element, it is not really that great. But at least they built substantial sets to make you feel like you're in a Mario Kart track.
I wanna see an awesome Sonic the Hedgehog roller coaster with launches and inversions that’ll be part of a Sega themed theme park or as a collaboration with a different theme park chain!
You know I hope I do get to go to Super Nintendo World and it would be cool if there was any rumors for Kirby and having like a ride and maybe some merch for it since Japan has a lot of merch for Kirby with the plushies, the figures, and all of that so it could be cool if they did that since we're getting rumors of Pokemon and Zelda being added since we already got one for Donkey Kong and Mario so yeah I hope Universal and Nintendo have some good plans for Super Nintendo World and I hope it goes good.
I wonder why those stupid rumors/fake newsers keep talking about an extremely awful Zelda land and extremely awful Pokémon land? And to be honest for real I don’t know anything about Pokémon that much neither as Zelda where they have really evil army skull kids to attack as adults instead of us children at all. 🤔🤮👎🏻 16:45

@@gladeofcerezaYeah, it had shots of Sonic 4!

Surprised that Disney as of now haven’t done anything to make their own answer to Super Nintendo World, like with Kingdom Hearts or Wreck-It Ralph.
Fr they can do so much with those video games ips. It's still crazy how the only kh stuff in the parks were meet and greets and a statue.

Slowly transforming into a theme park channel lol
Went to Super Nintendo World last year, it was so cool!

In the book PAC-MAN: Birth of an Icon, it's shown there was a PAC-MAN puppet show at PAC-MAN Land, featuring a PAC-MAN hand puppet.

The Rabbid video one, I think, was actually the press opening for the ride. Also, I got to remember how popular Le Lapins Crétins is over in Europe.
I live 40 minutes from Kings Island but I never got to experience the Tomb Raider ride either.

You can get a rom of it

You forgot sega world Sydney
japan and united kingdom
I never knew Mario appeared at Six Flags Mexico before it's retheme

Sega had a theme park. Sega Republic in Dubai.
The things I’d do for a Cash Banooca theme park or land
Cash Banooca had meet and greets at Universal when his first game came out :)
im surprised they dident add a legend of zelda attraction to the epic universe one
Nice Astrobot music lol 12:16
I'm surprised you didn't mention the Capcom collaborations in Universal Studios like Monster Hunter and Resident Evil.
i went to alton towers an actually met sonic when i was a kid
Quick thing; Spinball whizzer was always those colours
You know I hope I do get to go to Super Nintendo World and it would be cool if there was any rumors for Kirby and having like a ride and maybe some merch for it since Japan has a lot of merch for Kirby with the plushies, the figures, and all of that so it could be cool if they did that since we're getting rumors of Pokemon and Zelda being added since we already got one for Donkey Kong and Mario so yeah I hope Universal and Nintendo have some good plans for Super Nintendo World and I hope it goes good.
uncharted also has a ride
Knack?
why is this literally my niche
W
Bro how do you forget Sega Republic and GameWorks? The former probably being the best example of a video game theme park😂😂😂

16:45 🤮👎🏻💯 I really hate Zelda and Pokémon too. also about Pokémon is religions teaching, gambling, evolution, and jewish symbols.
