I know you’re probably done on the topic but some more weird ones for your radar:
    - Virtual Magic Kingdom (VMK), a Habbo-inspired (they also helped make it) MMO based on Disneyland, made for its 50th anniversary. It got popular and ended up running for longer than its one year lifespan, getting a lot of content as new movies like High School Musical and POTC were being released. The game was sort of an early adopter of toys to life, with cards you could earn in-park to unlock virtual items. Currently it’s preserved in MyVMK, which has added a lot of OG content over the years but went so far as to recreate the game in a new engine to avoid the Flash shutdown. It also runs on mobile!
    - Side note, VMK also ended up becoming a plot point in a YA book series released around that time, Kingdom Keepers, where Ridley Pearson (Peter and the Starcatcher) wrote about these kids who were chosen to become holographic ambassadors to Disney World with the rather horrific condition that they live their holograms’ lives while asleep, and anything that happens to said holograms can affect their real bodies. The characters at the park come to life at night, the villains actually kill people, it was VERY much Percy Jackson era.
    - Ultimate Ride, an interesting footnote for Disney Interactive. It was a Disney-produced rollercoaster sim, but didn’t really go for the Disney branding. Then they released a spin-off, Ultimate Ride: Disney Edition.
    - Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters Online, a Disneyland online game where you could pilot a Star Command ship and fight opponents. Servers were shut down at some point, iirc there may be a fan revival.
    - Disney Magical World 1-2, Disney Infinity, and Disney Dreamlight Valley all take some inspiration from the parks but it’s a bit scattered. Epic Mickey as well, obvi!
    - There is a mobile moneysink called Magic Kingdoms, operated by the folks who later did Dreamlight Valley. One of those live service tycoon games that takes several months and dollars to complete.
    - The Haunted Mansion game from 2003 was a movie tie-in, but didn’t actually take any elements from the movie. It was just a ride adaptation.

Idk if you know this but there's also another Universal Studios Japan video game for the PS2, only instead it's made by Konami where's the Gamecube game was from Kemco. I didn't know that it existed until I saw a video by Expidition Theme Park that showed both games.

Thanks for playing the Magic Kingdom and Universal Park we created in Minecraft. Indeed the universal map is a nod and wink to the terrible gamecube game hahahaha. I knew that game always had potential and could be made better and thats why we made it that way. I always wanted to be an imagineer when i was young, so actually building an official Universal Studios map from scratch designed by me was a dream come true.
And yeah, sorry about the minecrat coaster in the magic kingdom one, we didnt have time to create our own movement for vehicles for that one so it feel a little wonky. We went above and beyond on the Universal one and thats why everything feels much better there.

You talked about theme parks in video games.... now talk about video games in theme/amuesement parks. >:)
Here's a few I think may be interesting to touch on, honestly would be a really interesting vidoe
-A now defunct amuesement park in Mexico City called Reino Aventura had a few Nintendo 64 themed attractions including a really creepy looking replica of peach's castle that lives in my nightmares.
-Sonic Rides at Alton Towers including a coaster and dark ride.
-Pac Man stuff in Six Flags
Scrapped/Demolished Wreck It Ralph area at Epcot that once played unique Mario Kart music renditions in the area (GameXPlain has a video on it) This was I think before the ties of Nintendo and Disney kinda fell when Nintendo Land + Prob can mention the kingdom hearts presence in the parks.
-Nintendo Land of Course + Pokemon/Monster Hunter stuff at Universal Japan
-The now semi-defunct Pokemon theme park
-Plants vz. Zombies Garden Warfare 3Z Arena at Carowind
There's many more from other video game franchises you can find online if you want to cover theme.

I am firmly of the opinion that experiencing a theme park is much more like playing a sandbox video game than it is like watching the movies the rides are usually based on. It's a little baffling that no one has yet come up with a genuine slam-dunk game based on the Disney parks, and also that it took until 2021 for any major theme park to use a video game property in its theming.

I was shocked to see the Minecraft server that me and a couple of friends started way back in high school show up here!! We made ImagineFun (at the time "Imagineering Fun") as a hobby project way back then, and it grew into something so much bigger. I left the project last year, but I'm still so proud of the rides we built in the 5 years I was there!
Enough about Minecraft though, I COMPLETELY forgot about the Legoland game. That game is SO FUN!

Fun fact about Tokyo Disney Sea. A lot of it is inspired and connected to an overarching plot or storyline that spans across the Disney parks called the Society of Adventurers and Explorers (S.E.A.). It's most likely why the park is called Sea. It genuinely has a lot of lore that connects some of the rides, restaurants, etc. together. Most notably and the ones I can remember are the Jungle Cruise (and its restaurant), Big Thunder Mountain, and the Mystic Manner (over in the Hong Kong park). Most of the story comes from the ride's queues and stuff hidden in them. It's interesting to look into!
I haven't watched the Jungle Cruise movie but I'm guessing they included stuff about it in that.

Haven't seen it mentioned here yet, but if a Part 3 is ever in the works, Sea of Thieves: A Pirate's Life comes highly recommended. The questline as a whole is inspired by the story of the Pirates of The Caribbean movies, but the missions themselves acutally take a lot of inspiration and content (such as audio) from the ride as well.

9:22 I played 2005's "SeaWorld Adventure Parks Tycoon 2" a few times many years ago and, as a big fan of "Roller Coaster Tycoon 3," I wasn't all that impressed. The game looks nice, but there didn't seem to be many chances for customization. It was mostly about placing pre-built, pre-existing SeaWorld attractions in a SeaWorld park.

The very first games I got with my Nintendo GameCube:
Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Mario Sunshine, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, and... Universal Studios Theme Park Adventure.
What can I say? The allure of exploring a virtual Universal Studios without having to actually go there was just too strong for me to not take an interest in the game at the time.

I actually remember playing Lego land, the whole story is the professor invented a Time Machine, it goes haywire and destroys the park, and has to go back again and covert living Beings into attractions.(that’s kinda dank)
Seaworld tycoon is bad like really bad. Allot of the items are premade assets like,(including the rollercoaster)
And the only game play comes from the shows I think

IF is the best disneyland mc server if ya go for scale and detail
MCParks is good but i hate how they say 1.1 scale when the parks walkways are so small no parade can work like that aint 1.1 scale
for the rest they both are great mc servers

    • @theangelandtheone
      @theangelandtheone 3 месяца назад

It's because MCParks is a 12 year old map that gets updated piece by piece. A lot of things aren't that good because they were designed that way when the idea of building parks in MC was a lot more foreign, and then stuff has just been built in those parks to the point where widening a pathway in MK would result in shifting a ton of stuff around in an already otherwise complete park
There's been a lot of cool progress in updating stuff across those parks to MC's modern capacity, but it's a ton of work and some stuff is just too far gone to change without starting over

    • @gameNLHD

Hey, MCParks owner here! We build 1:1 scale based on the "canonical" scale of Minecraft where one block is one cubic meter.
Unfortunately, the player characters don't fit this scale -- they're much bigger (imagine if everyone was 2 meters tall and almost a meter wide)! That's why a lot of spaces feel cramped. If we were starting over today, we definitely wouldn't do a 1:1 scale, instead opting for 1.25:1 or something better scaled to the player characters!
