I'm an American living abroad and these shows are how I keep up with current US culture and get to laugh at cultural references I actually get. I know everyone missed the late night shows acutely, but I could almost cry I'm so happy to have this back.

I'm just so glad that (as far as I can tell), their identity has been kept private. Their face and/or name could so easily have ended up plastered across the internet.
I once got food poisoning on a tour bus that got stuck in traffic in Malaga. Awful awful awful feeling.
Airport food is notorious for being both expensive and causing food poisoning.
No wonder my morning coffee wasn't working...didn't have Colbert to sweeten it.

As a Somali, that sister dominated Somali social media sphere and diaspora in late July. I was in London, visiting from Toronto and every Somali was talking about her and her blatant disregard for the norms.
Were...were there really no other better candidates who could have competed?
@@tru1072 She was not athlete, never run in her life. Her maternal aunt, who was the executive that runs Somali athletic federation, sent her as an award graduating from a university.
Because of this international shocking scandal, it was further revealed her maternal family run that organization like it was family business. Her aunt and her family were fired or forced to resign by embarrassed Somali government.
So did they figure, “Who would be able to tell?”
As a non Somali, I think it's a nice chance of pace (pun intended) from the usual scandals about doping.
Bring back the amateur competition!

I liked seeing that race because I’ve often wondered how well I would do compared to the runners I’ve seen race. Now I know.

The real estate market is so scary price wise that as a millenial wanting their own home, I couldn't even aford a haunted house 😅
Buy a house in the U.S. where real estate is dirt cheap! Here in Vancouver, B.C. an average 2,000 sq ft house is $1,200,000 CAD ($875,000 USD).
If that ghost wants to keep haunting the house, it better be paying rent. We got bills to pay!

More than 60% of our apartments are vacant simply because keeping them empty allows them to raise rates because the complex "appears more desirable."
@@AnnoyingMoose Vancouver is an expensive city, just like all major cities. Real estate in places away from large metropolitan areas isn't so bad.

Cant believe I was blessed enough to be able to be in the audience of the colbert report in 2013 while I was on holiday in New York (from the EU) and due to a technical bug I got tickets from the website and they still let us in! I never lived in the US but still had been watching the colbert report daily for a few years before!!!

there are few things as satisfying as when Stephen breaks 😂 God, I missed him.
There was a similar story not that long ago about a female shot putter who "took one for the team" by running the hurdles so her college TEAM wouldn't be disqualified for not having a runner in the event. Her race was also pretty slow but maybe there was a good reason for this woman to be running as well
No reason was given, as far as I'm aware.
Apparently the lady in charge of the Somalian government’s department of women’s track and field is her aunt.

In 5th grade, my first "race" was 50 yards...and I had never done it before...so when ALL the other kids were out front, I just walked off the track...the coach yelling at me to finish...and I said.."Why" They all beat me!" 40 years later I literally became a Race Director!

Lmao the fake runner was hilarious but for real. She stole someone else place who had the same dream but did all the hard work to be there. It must have been frustrating for the other girls to even look at her before and especially after the race.

I remember one of the Winter Olympics when the only athlete from Morocco was entered in several of the skiing events despite having never skied before. Unsurprisingly he didn’t win or even finish any but he could honestly say he’s an Olympic athlete.

In case anyone is wondering, tortoises are tunnelers and very determined. You need a barrier at least 3 feet deep and 3 feet high and a cover. They also climb. They are relentless when they want to get out.
