Great video! I’d love to make an island on the side of our house and this gives me lots of great ideas. I can’t wait to get out in the garden again when this heat and the mosquitoes subside. True Gardener!
True Gardener I love your videos and have incorporated many of your ideas in our yard … question though? Can you cut some Of the more taller bird of paradise down without harming the plant ? I have one for Privacy issues and some are getting humongous… thanks so much in advance . And keep those videos coming 🌻🌻🌻🌻
Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm glad my videos have been helpful in your garden. Yes, you can definitely trim back the taller Bird of Paradise leaves without harming the plant. Just be sure to cut at the base of the leaf stalk. This won't hurt the plant and will help manage its size. Happy gardening, and I'll keep the videos coming!
Absolutely beautiful! And I so love your style. So wish you were here on the west coast. On the annuals - were those vinca flowers? I love love love flowers (had beautiful flower gardens up north) but am really struggling to find what works best since moving here to the west coast of FL. My dream was to have beautiful flower gardens when I retired but that has just about fizzled out at this point. I’ve wasted so much money replacing plants that I’m just about ready to give up! Lately just walking around garden centers admiring all the beautiful flowers but never leaving with anything. I have planted vinca - they are ok, but man oh man, those things sprout up everywhere 😆 I’d like something more manageable. 🙄 I couldn’t tell from your video what the flowers were - they gave a nice pop of color to those Islands. But if they are vinca, I’ll have to pass 😂
Jennifer, really enjoy your Great Tips for creating a tropical look yard. I wonder may I please gets some Advice? I have three wonderful Tecoma Stans plants.. I decided to trim two of them as I wanted a tree form. The two I trimmed, the next day all the leafs turned brown and died.. Any idea why? The one I left un trimmed, is still perfectly OK. Also is the Adonidia Palm similar to Triangle Palm in being Drought Tolarant?
Hello Gary, I wish I had some good advice for you however, I’m not familiar enough with those plants to offer an opinion on them. As for the triangle palm, yes once they are established they are just as drought tolerant as the Christmas. I commonly use them within the same planting beds.
Great as always! There's been mention of a Phoenix palm hybrid, Pygmy x Canary. People describe it as a Pygmy palm on steroids. Have you encountered these, would you know of a grower? Thanks.
I have heard of the pygmy palm mixed with the Reclinata palm, and they are a sturdy little tree. Sexton nursery in Vero Beach have a few hybrids of Pygmy’s maybe check them out.
If you are in Florida you can go to your local extension office. They will give you a little box bring it to them and they’ll test your pH and basic tests. If you need something more elaborate they’ll give you the address to send it to the university of Florida. I do have a video on it if you go directly to my RUclips channel page, you’ll see it.
I love these videos. It’s harder to find tropical gardening videos on RUclips.
Oh I’m glad you enjoyed it and found it helpful

Yes those were Vinca sorry, annuals can be a lot of work. I mainly use blooming perennials in all my gardens just to minimize the yearly replacements.
Love it!!!!!!
Oh thank you!

You should get a clip-on mic so you don't have to hold it
It does clip on unfortunately my voice just does not carry enough and the sound seems to come and go every time I Turn my head.
@@stylewithlivingartI wish everyone would leave you alone about your mike!
How can I test my soil?

Too much green for me
