Celebration of 100 years of the Motor Bus in Glasgow (August 2024)

  • So on Saturday 3rd August 2024 an Event to celebrate 100 years of motor bus operation in Glasgow was held within the city.
    This event was organised by the Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust (GVVT) to their usual very high standard.
    The Event consisted of a Parade of around 20 heritage vehicles throufh the city, running roughly in date order, from Glasgow Green through the city centre and to the city's Riverside Transport Museum, where the buses then went on display. The current operator of most bus Services in Glasgow, Firstbus also provided two of its electric buses, one double and one single decker.
    The vast majority of the vehicles within the event are garaged within the GVVT garage at Fordneuk Street, Bridgton. the GVVT opeeate a number of Open Days and other events throughout the year, including also an Open Weekend each October - the 2024 Open Weekend takes place on the weekend of 12th & 13th October. All GVVT Events are highly recommwnded!
