- I visited the Nene Valley Railway for the first time thanks to a viewer (Neale Smith) who had paid for the Full Monty on good Friday 7th April 2023. Ryan MG also joined me as Co-Videographer on the adventure. I have always wanted to go to the Nene Valley Railway as the heritage railway is part of the dismantled L&NWR Northampton to Peterborough Branchline which once had a station here in my hometown of Wellingborough. Now the A45 dual carriage sits on the site of Wellingborough London Road Station. I have walked, filmed and researched so much of what remains of this railway, to finally visit and travel along the line was a literal dream come true for me. So not only did I travel upon this railway which is close to my heart but a special visitor to NVR made that experience extra special. 60007 A4 Pacific Sir Nigel Gresley. I travel directly behind the locomotive after filming the museum at Peterborough to Wansford where the manager of the railway directed me towards a legendary volunteer named Roger who kindly took a small group for a tour of the sheds. After a few epic drone scenes, Ryan and I travel back up to Overton to look at the Postal Service Museum and capture the most epic collaboration scene yet to date. Thank you to all the volunteers at Nene Valley Railway for making my first experience at the NVR one to remember for a lifetime.
As always our heritage museums of all kinds around the U.K are in need of new volunteers and help from the public to continue to exist for all to enjoy. Should you wish to find out how you can help this epic railway then just click this link below

WOW as you say, “OH MY DAYS” what a day that was. I bet you and Ryan were as happy as a “PIG IN S-T.
A wonderful video by both of you, makes me want to visit. Sir Nigel Gresley was the icing on the cake, lovely bit of kit.
Thanks for sharing Ryan & Purple
I think you should visit Peter. It would be nice to see the big green loco running
Thankyou for putting the video together. I’ve done the shed tour many times. One of the few heritage railways that allow guided visits. You’ll learn so much more on another visit. The independent ‘Railworld’ is interesting in its own right. The remains of the LNWR engine shed are visible, as is the small turntable, in that area.
You are so welcome Keith. Thank you for watching
WOW..WOW..WOW! Phenomenal video Dave. Purple Railways truly nailed the "Purple'ish" train, hats off for getting some seriously interesting angles on the shunt move and prime positions for the journey. 👌👍
I'm glad you enjoyed it Steve. I have to say I'm quite proud of some of those angles. Thanks for watching matie
Smells like granddad's shed ??
Thomas's boiler ?? 😂😮😂
What is this lunacy I wonder
Nerd alert nerd alert oh god !!
Been there a lot in the past, its a great railway
Yh it's epic and I finally get to see it
Absolutely brilliant video Dave, I've been there many times. A great little preserved line. Wonderful.❤
Thanks John. Quite an amazing place. Lots of local history on display at Peterborough end. It's a shame there is really a museum at Wansford end. Well there is but it's a Mick Gorge portacabin
Well what one can say a great video more of this please. Keep up up the good work. Do more of this i think your channel will grow big time. Once again well done.
Thank you Alan. Means a lot. Its quite hard for me to travel with this beautiful family to pay for. I'll try to get out there more.
nice video
Thanks
Seen you on the platform at Peterborough NVR. Excellent drone videos and enjoyed the Wansford shed tour.
Thank you very much. I let my inner child lead the way and I'm so glad I do. Thanks for watching

Very nice video mate. I was standing next to Lucy. Me and you spoke for like a second.
Ah nice. I met quite a few legends that day. Thanks for coming through
I'm going to have to visit just to see the BoB light pacific 92 Sqd ... excellent , evocative video Mr Purple ...
Why thank you so kindly John. Means a lot fella
Brilliant video.
Did you spot all the loco’s that were employed in the ironstone quarries…? I saw three.
The tour of the loco sheds was brilliant.
Stephen
Yh I saw 2. Thanks for watching Stephen
@@PurpleandCoRailwayAdventures The three are Two Rolls Royce diesels one worked at Oxfordshire Ironstone. The other worked at Corby. Then there is Hunslet loco ‘Jacks Green’ worked at Nassington.
The class 14 D9529 worked at Buckminster quarries and at Corby works.
Finally when you joined the train at Peterborough you were walking, was where the LNWR had some loco sheds. I did go round them many years ago before they were pulled down.
Stephen
Ahh that's a huge shame that the Swedish Tank engine isn't coming back but I understand that trying to get parts for it is like getting hens teeth. From the state it is in i kinda expected that if it was to come back it would be a very long time 😂
You also should've carried on further back into the Royal Mail shipping container at Overton as you can go into the cab of the 325 👍
Yh somebody did say
You should come visit us at Rocks By Rail - Cottesmore! (near Melton Mowbray) It's a great day out and lots to see. Our next open day is the 30th July which features the quarry open too. Just suggestion but it would be great to see you!
It's been on the list for a little while now. Ever since I discovered Cranford Quarry and delved into it's history. The website is pretty epic for information
@@PurpleandCoRailwayAdventures It certainly is epic. It's currently being updated as we speak due to the out of date look. Let us know if you stop by! (Or ask for Daniel!)
As seen in 2 Bond films!
Two you say. Cool
@@PurpleandCoRailwayAdventures Yes important scenes in both Octopussy and GoldenEye were filmed here
Hi purple x Ryan👋Fantastic trip on a Steam loco👍👍👍made my day🚂🚃🚃🚃Sounds better than any of yer diesels😊😊😊 BTW Dave nice to see 👀you amongst the snakes🐍and lizards 🦎at the museum today😂😂😂
Thanks Keith. Great to see ya today.
We keep looking to get tickets but don’t understand what we are paying for? River ticket means I can travel all lines, but what trains will we be going on? Steam, diesel, electric??? When is steam on?? The website isn’t much help and they never answer the phones! 🥺
Not a clue. It's a rare visit for me
Do they still have anything swedish?
yes but im not sure. Watch the video as a full shed tour is included
