  • In this Physics video in Hindi for class 12 we explained how a moving coil galvanometer is converted into an ammeter. This conversion is very easy. The galvanometer is connected to a 'shunt' resistance of certain resistance in parallel combination and hence we get a desired ammeter.
    As a galvanometer can sustain a very small amount of current, by connecting this to a very low resistance may lead to the passage of the most of the current through the resistance and in this way the galvanometer survives a huge amount of current.

    Which statement is right ...
    1 . galvanometer with low resistance in series is an ammeter
    2. Galvanometer with high resistance in series is an ammeter
    3 . galvanometer with low resistance in parallel is voltmeter
    4 . galvanometer with high resistance in parallel is voltmeter
    Sir Please answer me with explanation

    I wish you to make lecture on the peculiar concept of :
    Blackbody radiation graph following with (Reigh lay and Jeans) law derivation in particular and
    Eventually the Planck's radiation law derivation.
    You are the final hope sir, I couldn't decipher these topics, they are so difficult but It seems that these no longer gonna stay "difficult " against you.
    By the way, I love the way you speak Hindi.

    We cannot measure the current through galvanomerer. Galvanometer only detects small amount of current but does not measure it.

    My point is-
    How current knows which direction to go in parallel direction?
    I know about parallel combination rule, but so as electrons?
    How come they know which direction to go?

    Sir, Ameter is used to measure the current of the whole circuit, but only a part of the current is flowing through it and the rest is flowing through the shunt resistance, so how it shows the reading of the total current flowing through the circuit.

    when the galvanometer is shunted by a 20 ohm
    resistor. The galvanometer resistance is
    (1) 5 ohm (2) 10 ohm
    (3) 40 ohm (4) 20 ohm

    We can also say conveniently that Rs is equal to V/Is ..As the product of Rg and Ig is equal to V and I-Ig is equal to Is...This is simply the Ohm's law..Am I right Sir??
