- In this Physics video in Hindi for class 12 we explained how a moving coil galvanometer is converted into an ammeter. This conversion is very easy. The galvanometer is connected to a 'shunt' resistance of certain resistance in parallel combination and hence we get a desired ammeter.
As a galvanometer can sustain a very small amount of current, by connecting this to a very low resistance may lead to the passage of the most of the current through the resistance and in this way the galvanometer survives a huge amount of current.

We cannot measure the current through galvanomerer. Galvanometer only detects small amount of current but does not measure it.

Sir, Ameter is used to measure the current of the whole circuit, but only a part of the current is flowing through it and the rest is flowing through the shunt resistance, so how it shows the reading of the total current flowing through the circuit.
