    I'm a Makita fan and 90% of my tools are Makita. I was so close to purchasing this 36V saw a couple of weeks ago. I drove down to the tool shop to buy one, but came home with a Bosch GCM 12GDL 12inch Glide Saw and a Bosch Folding Gravity Rise Mitre Saw Stand. I read up on the Makita and watched reviews, but I think the issue about the curved cuts really put me off in the end. Perhaps if your video was uploaded before I made the purchase, I might have bought the Makita 36V saw. You are the only one that I have seen, who has come up with a solution to the curved cuts. Well done. Great review. Nice saw.

      @ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL  5 лет назад +4

      The Bosch saws are nice... but they ain't cordless. If I was to buy a corded saw I may not have gone with Makita, but because I do a lot of stuff a long way from power, the cordless is a must. And Makita make the best cordless model IMO. But the curved cut and the indent plate are disappointing.
      I will do a short vid on how to set up the saw in the future, if I get around to it, so many tools to test and videos to edit...

    • @CamperKev
      @CamperKev 5 лет назад

      Yes that's correct. They are not cordless and I thought that must have been important to you. For me, it was not so important with this particular tool as it will only be used at home, but I liked the idea just the same. I would have enjoyed the bonus of an extra battery charger and more batteries that came with the saw, but it was not to be. Looking forward to your upcoming reviews. Have a nice day in beautiful NZ.

      It is a beautiful day here. Just been sanding the front of the house and had too come inside cause it's too bloody hot.
      The batteries and charger was a big selling point, plus I got $350 off it because I saw it cheaper somewhere else and Bunnings then had to beat that price by 15%. Chi ching.
      Got a 9" 36v grinder coming up soon...

    Thanks for another great video. I agree that after all this time Makita should have sorted out their QC and fixed all the known problems with the corded and cordless model. All the issues are fixable but your shouldn't have to fix those sort of things on a brand new saw. Align blade to the fence, to the table, start cutting wood.

    I think that aluminium plate that the detents can wear out is only an issue for tradies that use it day in and day out constantly (from my research). You can buy a stainless steel version of that plate online. I'm about to pull the trigger on one of these Makita 36v compound saws, would love to know which ones are still made in Japan, i think the 12" version still is.

    Just bought the LS1019L and have the same curve problem. After 6 attempts following your instructions, the curve is going the right way but only slightly better. Still have a .45mm/.018 in gap in the middle when I put 2 cut boards together. Only loosened the top set screw to make the adjustments and pulling on the wedged board as hard as I can. Going to try loosening only the bottom set screw and will try again. Very frustrating and disappointing that I have to do this. No Makita service center within 100 miles of me

    Great review! I bought this saw last year and checked square but didn't know about the cupping issue. Now i do and I'm heading out to see if mine does it. i hope not, but I'll use an impact drill to undo those screws, not an Alan key. Mine didn't come with the redemption! or the Bluetooth card.
    Cheers

    I just opened my new 12" version of this saw. I still have no clue what that little clear plastic triangle and the mini allen wrench are for! I hope I don't have curved cuts. I'll be setting it up and checking everything over the next few days. I'm liking this saw SO much better than the Dewalt I just sold due to the space saving design. Wow, what a difference.

    Impact Driver with a 5 hex bit on low to medium torque helps with the screws... just be sure you use fair good branded bits to avoid stripping.

    Im considering this saw or the 12inch version. i like the direct drive motor and im already in the makita line, but im also in the flexvolt line too and i was up for the makita saw, but the rail inaccuracy is worrying me, so im stuck between the flexvolt and the makita.
    HOWS THE SAW BEEN FOR THE PAST YEAR, HOW OFTEN DO YOU USE IT, AND /DID YOU HAVE TO FIDDLE WITH THE RAILS AGAIN FOR ACCURACY, ITS REALLY IMPORTANT AS I WANT THIS SAW TO BE ABLE TO CUT DADOES

      @@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL it's not..... it's off 1/16' ... that might fly for most things but it will drive me insane. I'm assuming you can't adjust that because of the 1/2 circle, one piece design.... bottom line: it dips in the middle to a slightly under 180 degrees.

    • @hammondgarage3011
      @hammondgarage3011 4 года назад

      @@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL ok, one last update.... so i found a solution (with some gentle nudging) to fix problem 1. moved on to the arc in the rails. cutting a 45 across a true 1X6, i have just under 1/32 dip in the middle of the cut. light "JUST BARELY" visible through it. i know i will want to fix it, but that seems like "not that much to fix" opinion? and if so, how did you fix yours?
      Also, can confirm we definitely don't get the BT chip in the US - Bummer. However, i understand you're not that thrilled with it anyway.

    I've owned this saw for 2+ years. I don't recommend. It certainly has the power and some OK features but the known detent plate issue sucks. The base gets really hard to spin when it clogs up with sawdust - wd40 helps but not a great solution to a problem that shouldn't exist. Laser impossible to adjust properly - shadow line would be much better. Pretty heavy too. I'm not anti makita, all my tools are makita

    • @ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL
      @ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL  4 года назад

      I haven;t had any probs with the base clogging and the laser is a huge improvement on earlier models and piss easy to adjust I found. But I agree the detent plate is a major flaw.
