      It would definitely have its place, but it doesn't do the same job as this adapter. In my mind this is mainly for lawncare/outdoor work, where you dont/cant have a 30m+ extension lead running back into the house.
      Of course you could always have a generator that you plug into, but at that point you just buy petrol equipment.

    I’m only on the 12V and 18V Makita platforms. What I experience with the newer 18V Makita tools is motor and electronics efficiency.. this may also lay in my newest batteries (5Ah, 6Ah and 2Ah) I get really good runtime on most tools, including hedge trimmers, grass trimmers.. So I find myself preferring the 2Ah battery on any single hand tool.. especially on the drills and router! But yes, a battery on cable could be interesting on the tools I use above head and for longer periods.

  • @billmoore8035

  • @joshuapreusser2265
    @joshuapreusser2265 24 дня назад

    Not sure if I would .... might work as a nice extension to one of the ConnectX power sources so they could be set on the floor, but have enough cord length to still be useful (without being entirely stationary).
    Though it may make even more sense for some of the 80V XGT tools - would probably want to tape the two lines together for those though just to reduce the number of individual lines that could get tangled up in stuff. ...could definitely see using a pair of them with the 80V brush cutter & pair of 8AH batteries.
    With some of the 40V tools now seemingly being able to output more power than is available from a (US) standard 120V/15amp outlet there's definitely a need to extend the capacity/runtime without adding additional in-hand weight.
    So yep, I've talk myself into adding them to my tool wish list ..... just need to have them become available in the US.

  • @pekaesy1
    @pekaesy1 27 дней назад

    For the 18V and especialy 36V it is an interesting imrpovement, but what I would welcome most is batteries with 3 rows of cells(130-160 Wh). It is right they do not fit tools like those with closed covers (example DML805, radios, battery backpacks, vacuums etc) but they not only have grater capacity but also enhance power of some tools and extend life of the batteries due to less current draw stress on the cells. I bought some third party and will go for buying more of such as they are fantastic.

    In my opinion this adapter is dedicated to LOW consumption tools but for extended time tasks like sanding , routing where the battery weight become relevant for long standing period. For personal use I would not buy it, I have the PDC and if you look at cables… they are huge for very demanding power tools like trimmers or blowers. Keep in mind that current is high at low voltage!!! For my tasks the 2,5ah remains the best light weight option. Thank you!!

    The 18x2 strimmer is really sensitive to voltage sag, this could cause issues also.
    TBH best use I’d have for this would be to stick larger capacity Dewalt or Milwaukee batteries on the LXT tools where with a direct adapter they become massive! Although if Makita are listening, I’d rather just buy a genuine LXT 8Ah or 12Ah with high drain cells 😉

      Yes. It can be used at any angle, it just locks in at the front and back of the faux battery.

    Why didn’t they make a 10.8/12v one🤷🏼‍♂️
    Just jokin haha

    With that cord makes sense only for a low power tool, like 6 A @ 18 or 36V. For 40A or more I would use a much thicker cable, with 2 x 10mm^2 copper or more.

      these cables are in open air and for non-continuous tool use, they are fine. 10mm2 would be too cumbersome, I can see going up to 4mm2 at most and that would also be an overkill.

      This is for 18V not for 230, so we're talking about much higher amperage. And 40A @18V is not much either 18x40=720W so after electronic driver loss we end up with ~ 600W motor. The 4A/mm^2 target is to avoid even more loss, the cable geting very hot, voltage divider so voltage drop and also current drop. 5A/mm^2 would still be OK, but 40A over 1.5mm^2 is beyond stupid. And these tools are used continuously, not just in pulse, routers, sanders, etc.

      @@loochan325 yeah but on average you are using much less power, and wire only cares about that. for example if your 4ah battery lasts half an hour on 36v, then your average current is 8A dc which is a joke for 1.5mm2 cable in open air rated up to 23A.

    I wonder, hikoki has one of those. I wonder if i could swap out the battery adapters so I can run the Makita sander with a hikoki battery? Maybe the wall adapter? What are the chances that hikoki will make their own sander

    maybe chainsaw. but than you need some pouch behind your beck. ussual thing is weight of chainsaw as its always in your hands , work all day and than you get idea, lets say making firewood.but i doubt that casue wire is big problem similar to buy electric lawnmover work some time and you will curse that wire going to electric outlet

    Could you not just use the pdc01 or the pdc1200 get runtime for days and can get all same adapters for 18v,36v and 40v

    Until they come up with an adapter that lets me use the tools on 240v when I want to,its pointless

    Yet another comment asking for this as a 240v adaptor. Remote battery is not really useful unless using the 1200wh units.

    Do the new sanders (40v) Come in just 220v , cause thats what we as pro's just want and don't get from makita

    If I wanted a cord hanging off my tool I would just use an extension cable plugged into the wall. Less weight and infinite run time.
    But I think we can all agree, that opening shot was amazing!
