I honestly don’t care at all for their modern production. Some guys having fun messing about was so much more relatable and authentic.

The band we loved isn't coming back. Most we can hope for is an album anniversary show or two but after 4 boring albums and rock star status I've given up. Still wish them the best but I dont think they care how much the OG fans loved them both personality wise and musically. Im so happy I saw them twice pre 2010. Saw them headline an old convenience store turned venue touring Horizons Jan 08'. Amazing show.

This is very telling. Winston putting a damper on the idea of the wetsuits is a big metaphor for how the band is now. I became a fan of 5 guys that didn't take themselves too seriously and played kick ass music. Now they play mediocre music and Winston wears combat boots and bulletproof vest in a non comedic way. Get back to your roots boys, both performance wise and more important musically. The old school fans are dying for it.

In what universe would people think you were taking the piss? You came up in the scene as a local metalcore band who loved surfing, even had a whole music video about surfing. You've done the big stage sets with fire/weird bulletproof vests recently, and now you're going back to your roots for a single show, because it's a secret slot and a one off, how would that ever be seen as taking the piss? Plus it's an English crowd, of course they'll get the joke. Lighten up Winston sheesh.

As lame as it sounds that whole conversation was really depressing to watch. Seems like the band still has that spirit we all loved even if the music is boring now. Then gets shit on by Winston who proceeds to go on stage looking like he's in a Ja Rule video. Met them headlining in 08 and once again after and they were such genuine, fun people and this was really sad to see.

Sad. I was one of the OGs since the Killing/Dont close your eyes days and despite not liking the music, still rooted for them. Its hard to do that when the genuine, fun loving people get shot down for the sake of an image they are trying to convey.

I didn't see the whole video yet but I think Winston is a bit too worried about wearing wetsuits or not. PwD are surboys right? wetsuits are a part of that.

A bit embarrassing to see really. Them being that way was a huge part of their success. They used to laugh about serious band names like ‘Death Piano’ and wearing all black like typical metal bands and how that wasn’t them, and now here’s Winston guilt tripping them into doing just that. That was an awkward watch and would be sad to see for any long time fan

I think its insulting to assume metalheads wouldnt get it. What made pwd refreshing was the fact they were normal dudes having a laugh but still making sick music. I think theyve got caught up in being a cliche metal band with their shift in music and metal "branding". Its a shame. And wtf is that bulletproof vest. Hopefully they can find their way back to what made then a great band. Shame that winston was to worried about what people would think here.
What is Winston's problem here? Would have been so funny to see them playing in wetsuits etc, it's not like this was the biggest headline concert of their lives or something. Also don't really like him making all the decisions even though majority wanted to do the opposite. He literally IS the party pooper here

I totally get where Winston is coming from, I can understand it and relate to it but I disagree with the final outcome. I think it would have been MEGA for Parkway to have played a show, pretty much how they used to. I personally really miss that fun side of the band. Not saying I don't find them fun now, but bring back the inflatables and the surfer vibe. Even for just one tour. I really think the fans would have gone wild for it.
Still, an awesome set and can't believe it won't be yet that you play another show in England. Hurry back! Watched one of your live shows recently on RUclips and you guys sounded sicker than ever. 🖤

The best thing this band can do for their success imo is to have fun with it the same way they used to. big budgets are cool but that was never what this band was about or what brought it to where it is today. There is something cool and unique about a bunch of aussie surfers in a shredding metalcore band. arguably it was your unique selling point. the fun loving, care free attitude came through in your performances and enticed a lot of new fans in. If parkway ever decide to be themselves again and fuck what the promotors and investors tell them they should dress like, I'll be there for it every damn time because man do i miss that band.

Met him and the band twice and couldn't have been nicer. Even watched part of Bad Religion's set with him at Warped tour. What happened to you man? I understand its your livelihood and you seem embarrassed by anything pre 2010 but get over yourself. The fans around for the fun times are the reason you get to make the bucks and do SWAT cosplay now. If it wasn't for those times you wouldn't have had this opportunity now. Seems like he's forgotten the journey a bit.

I was in a group of people with 0 interest in seeing Parkway Drive at download. The wetsuits would've been something people were talking about and we would've gone to check it out. Fun is what everyone wants at a festival like Download. It would've made a much bigger impact and made the band stand out. Whats more annoying is then the man looked a prat himself anyway.

Its a suprise show, honestly shoulve done the wetsuits and the whole thing. Its a fun show not the headliner big boi show. Shouldve taken the piss and had fun with it. People will still see parkway as a serious band.

First watched this band in a small club, went to their 10 year anniversary show, with countless of shows in between, now going to their 20 year show next month, Pwd forever 🤟🏻🤟🏻
Been going to Download since 2005 and I can tell you Winston is worried about nothing. I mean I respect how and why he was worried about it, he wants to show maximum respect, but he doesn't know the DL audience. The crowd only wants to see the band and see them having a great time. The whole "prestige" of DL is overblown. It's just a big party. :)

Very strange transaction about the wetsuits… they’re one of the biggest bands in the world. Who gives a shit what the perception from other people is? I thought that’s what the point of his lyrics were. Clearly he was outvoted on this and still didn’t budge.

All love for Winston but he’s wrong about the wetsuits. IMO PWDs success has always been bolstered by the carefree and fun loving nature of the band. The most revered shows aren’t the big arenas - they are the chaos of the Byron bay high school or the unknown of whether you’ll have more than 10 people show up to your show in Estonia. I think you had a chance to give the crowd one of those intimate experiences. We don’t give a shit if you have smoke and fire every song. This isn’t Taylor Swift - we want to see a kid in a Dorothy the dinosaur costume backflip off the stage.

For what its worth, Motionless in white has recently taken a step back from the huge productions and makeup/costumes, and the overall expression online is that Chris looks happy and healthier. The pressure of perception is heavy, boys. But we all fell in love with your music 20 years ago because you were relateable, fun, and the music crushed. Dont lose yourselves. Were gonna be here either way.
I've always held out for pre-Atlas tour at some point but its quite clear with how Winston is, that's never happening. What a gimp.

I can’t believe I’m saying this I really can’t believe I’m typing this but they need to kick Winston out. I think he’s controlling the band. I believe all that struggle they had and the almost break up was because winston wanted to go the way they are now and the others didn’t and then he became mr in charge. I honestly think the other 4 would love to be like old parkway. Ugh idk. It’s hard to type into words what i want to say….
They probably don't miss being broke, but you're probably right that they miss the light hearted vibe from the old days. I'd give anything to see a show where they only play older songs. BMTH did it in Malta, and they're even bigger than PWD, so they don't rly have much of an excuse imo.
Jeff has said there won't be another horizons album or music like that in multiple interviews and they have wanted to do a song like darker still for a while now. Between Winston having trouble with his voice more often and Jeff writing different music away from traditional metalcore, it makes sense they have changed their style the way they have. They are mates and this is a pretty civil disagreement. That being said they should be enjoying themselves and the wetsuit idea seems more lighthearted than what Winston's perspective on it was.

@@CardiffMark It wouldn’t surprise me if Winston behaves like that out of a sort of imposter syndrome, and his whole serious approach with everything now is him trying to cope with the size the band has got to so he can justify it and match it with constant professionalism. He needs a reminder of why people gave a shit about parkway in the first place and why they have stuck around all these years.

I'm a surfer and it's no joke how warm you can get in wetsuit out of the water on a warm day. Having said that they probably could have worn them half way down if needed and that would have been cool still. I see Wintson's perspective but honestly everyone would have been cool with that, sounds like a good laugh.
