Great explanation. I was searching youtube for Blacklight CCTV which seems to be the term sellers are using. I have old 700tvl cameras and I just use a separate sensor light, does the same job for less cost.
As a police CCTV specialist, I can confirm that conventional IR illumnated CCTV scenes are evidentially almost useless. The main reason is the 'polyester effect', where even black clothes containing any amount of polyester can appear grey or even white.
Security Perth Pty Ltd You verified they are Poe but I see there is an earth screw on the camera itself. Is that necessary, or is the only wire needed, the ethernet cable from the NVR. Thanks in advance
Great comparison thanks! Have you had the chance of comparing it with the 8MP acusense? Does the 4K sensor stand a chance of delivering similar performance (assuming there is some street lighting). Thanks
It is hard to believe this is a 30fps camera as the image is so jerky. For that reason alone like my 8MP 4K Amcrest turret camera that records at 15fps I cannot say I would buy it. Not sure but Amcrest might be Hikvision cameras with Amcrest software on them. In fact the jerkness of this video during the day looks like my 15fps camera which points to my street and is hard even in the day to get good images when things are in motion. The night vision is incredible though and in fact the best that I have ever seen on these cheap cameras. Thanks for making the video.
How do you like this compared to the acusense in regards to visibility at night and day? Especially considering the acusense line now includes a 6 and 8mp version. Based on your last comment about higher megapixel it sounds like that should do worse at night?
2MP is nothing to sniff at, don't forget it is still "full HD". If you don't need numberplate reading at great distance, 2MP should suffice. And as cars can't get everywhere, there are bound to be lots of locations where 2MP is perfect for the job.
Hi can you tell me what exposure setting you’re using in exposure time white balance setting WDR level + image enhancement as I can’t get it as good as you my friend Paul from Wales UK
Same here! How to you turn on the light based on an event? It's nowhere in my menu! Nevermind - just found it under Alastair Stevenson's comment. Maybe you should consider writing it in the video's description. Thanks anyway. It works!
If you don't want to use the light at all , can it switched off in the NVR software? Or do you have to use the SADP software? Can you do a tutorial on how you set up the line event?
Hi after seen your review of the colourvu I have purchased 3 cameras and they are brilliant. To look at the cameras at night you would think it is still daylight. I have a basic 4ch hikvision NVR for the 3 IP cameras however the unit do not always produce thumbnails in the him connect app. Can you recommend a better brand or model of NVR, should I go for a higher spec hikvision unit or is there a brand that has better performance and functionality ? Many thanks in advance Kind regards Danny

great review, it is ironic that when I started 10 years ago you had a box camera with sens-up. It seems retailers forgot about those.
