Keefe has done wonders for Luke (and the entire team but I digress LOL), If you look at Luke under Ruff, he was a turnover MACHINE, more turnovers then a bakery, his offense was decent but his defense was mediocre at best. Under Keefe he is SOLID defensively, he and Pesce together are something special, plus he's creating offense and is holding pucks as well as doing a great job getting the puck through the neutral zone (and he's blocking shots!!!!). and he's only 21, he's DEF gonna be a beast :)
Just speculating but the rumor is the Rangers players are in full mutiny mode with their GM Chris Drury. Work ethic has always been an issue with the veterans on that team, but the way in which players were traded in addition to the poor play has created a toxic situation with no end in sight. Sitting Kreider yesterday will only add to the discontent. They struggle to defeat mediocre teams and completely fall apart against experienced teams. Their PP is not good, and that was their bread and butter in previous seasons. The defense is atrocious. Mika is the Ghost of Christmas passed. Lafreniere got his money and hasn't done much since. Lindgren's play is laughable. The only player who I respect is Cuyelle. I don't know how they pull themselves out of this one. It's a sad state of affairs. Igor's bloated contract will age like spoiled milk in the coming years. That club needs to rebuild. I had nothing but unmitigated Christmas Joy watching them in complete disarray as the NJ Devils stole their lunch money. Merry Christmas, Trey! Let's Go Devils!!!
The devils had their lunch handed to them by the rangers last year. This game they said it ain't going to happen anymore. That was also a message to the league.
