How can one "person" not like the video...????? I cant understand that. Jeremy puts all great tips for free. At least one has to appreciate his expertise plus time and effort to help out CAD novices Thanks Jeremy
Very good video. I have worked with an older version of Arch. Desktop so 2012 is all new to me. You made it easy for me to make the transition to the new GUI. Like the step by step instruction with a pace that beginners to novices can follow along with.
Another option is to draw the separate levels in separate CAD files, with each level at 0 elevation in its respective file. Draw them all with the same location relative to 0,0. Then XREF them together into one combined file, with the XREF Z coordinate set to the elevation so the levels stack onto one another.
Sounds like everything is working as expected. You can't expect to see the second floor objects and first floor objects simultaneously. Switch to the display configuration you need at any given time. You can assign specific display config to a viewport if necessary. But the idea of having separate plan files is that you would work on the first floor and second floor in their respective files, so there is no reason to worry about seeing everything in plan view in the combined 3d model file.
id like seeing you make all the project on the paper you were working in AutoCAD!!! Maybe its easier to cote and put some anottations, i think, because the 3D works very well when you are in setup of the object! Congratulationss
Creating slabs and walls for upper floors is the same as a lower floor except for the elevation setting in the properties palette, which is normally 0 for a first floor, higher for upper levels, and negative for a basement. If the exterior walls are continuous for the full height, change their height instead of stacking walls. Also review display configurations and cut planes to make it easy to see the upper levels as you work.
I am new to autocad architecture. Cool and very clear videos you have here. i am currently working on a 3D model(3 storey residential) and i need help creating slabs and walls for upper floors. Thanks
Great video series - all very helpful! I have a house drawing already done in AutoCad - is there a way to import the plans to Architect and begin developing sections and elevations without redrawing the file?
It depends on what you want to do next. There are other videos that cover other topics that you can apply to this project, such as stairs, for example.
Hi, Jeremy. Need your help, please? My Tool Palette / Design tab (AutoCAD Architecture) does not have any Walls / Windows/ Doors/ etc tabs. How do I get them? Also, I have seen few of your tutorials and they are so well and logically explained. I was wondering if I can buy complete tutorial for Architecture and Revit from you or do you maybe have membership / website tutorial ? Thank you, Jeremy.
Are you sure you're using AutoCAD Architecture and not regular AutoCAD? Should say at the top center, on the titlebar. After confirming, try editing the tool palette by clicking on the properties icon of the tool palette -- the third icon down on the palette edge, below the X. This will open a pop-up menu. Choose 'customize palette.' In the dialog box you will see all available palette tabs on the left and groups on the right. Add any tabs to the Design group that you need by dragging/dropping.
jeremytf77 Thank you, Jeremy. The list of the palettes on the left was the same as the list of Groups on the right...(there was nothing to drag). I tried ...OPTIONS, PROFILES, change to US METRIC. That brings up missing tabs, but they disappear every time I switch computer off. (yes, I do 'save as current', and 'apply' and 'saves as' in workspace, but it just doesn't stay as I set it up. I have no idea what I am doing wrong. I called A2k Technologies Support (Autodesk) but they didn't want to help since it is not system problem but my lack of training. But....thank you, Jeremy. I'll keep looking for your occasional video tutorials.
@Nicholas N - It sounds like your units aren't set correctly. Did you start the software from an imperial desktop icon? Using an imperial template for the file? Check the units by typing "units"...
thanks Sir, I was able to stack levels using Xref, with Xref Z cordinate set to the elevation but the Xref second floor(walls) are not visible. I was unable to change cut plane value for the Xref second floor alone cos if I increase cut plane value my second floor walls become visible but this time my first floor(windows) disappears. plz tell me hw to fix this.
Hi Jeremy I have seen your informative and exelent videos on RUclips about Autocad Architecture and I really want to thank you for that. I have worked with CAD 2016, but I need to work with CAD Architecture. So I found your informative videos which helped me so much. But I still need to know a point which has stocked me in MUD!! I drew a 3D house, but when I go to Top View, I can just see the ground floor plan, not the second floor plan. How can I see other floor plans in Top View so I can continue my task as I did for the ground floor plan? Can you help me in this regard by dropping me some lines or a link? Thank you very much Best
@trimix83wasTAKEN There is no "import" necessary - the file format is the same. So... simply open the AutoCAD drawing in AutoCAD Architecture. However, there is no way to instantly convert the 2d linework to AutoCAD Architecture walls, doors, etc. The quickest way is to simply trace over the lines with walls, and then erase the lines afterwards. If you are comfortable with XREFing the old drawing into a new drawing, that's how I would do it. But XREFing isn't necessary.
@trimix83wasTAKEN One other thought - to make sure ACA works the way you want, it is probably best to copy/paste the old 2d linework into a new file from AutoCAD Architecture template, if you don't use XREFs.
I'm trying to draw a floor plan that I have a paper copy of, but when I try to input the length of the line/wall in feet and inches (for example, a 22 foot, 10 inch wall), it either tells me that it's invalid or the line goes away.
yea i know, i have autocad architecture. but when i open it shows autocad classic, i had to type menu in command and choose a aca :), thanks for answering
Could you not just import PDF into Auto Cad Ar and draw over and then del that layer . I use to do that with simple AutoCAD but not sure if its possible in Auto CAD Architecture .
Sure, you could do that. But you don't always have a PDF available so it is good to know how to work without one. And a lot of times people who literally trace an image end up with an imprecise plan with fractional dimensions. A more precise method is to use care in placement if walls in relation to one another, which means you're not saving much time by inserting the PDF anyway.

That is one school of thought. It is not universal. I am glad you have a method that works well for you.

i am really proud of you. a project like you doing is makes me perfect to know each and every tools as well as the details.

man your videos are really educative.
Is there a way to create an arched opening in a curved wall that is curved vs straight lines?
oh sorry - i guess I should go back to the basic videos as you've suggested - very clear and helpful video btw!
It depends on what you want to do next. There are other videos that cover other topics that you can apply to this project, such as stairs, for example.
Sir very nice video please make a video on material applying and rendering in AEC cad
it is not a high-demand topic. most people don't render in AutoCAD anymore.
nice one
@GuitarSounDX shortcut is "tp." I suggest the "Intro to AutoCAD Architecture" video.

where I can found all videos of this project

good, very good, but wheres the continuation, the second video?
AutoCAD Architecture Floor Plan 2
hi, good video, excellent :D Where I can find tool palettes - desing, wall, doors, windows?? please

Set up a different display configuration which has a higher cut plane.

i open up my tool pallettes but i dont see the walls on it.
good job

Either there is a flaw in your process, or your drawing units aren't set up correctly. Try some of my fundamental videos.
GREAT VIDEO Can you attach the PDF to this Video So we can Follow along Pls !
@ronholtz11 Thank you! Glad the videos are helpful.
Can you please point me to where you have tutorial of setting up dimension style?
On my channel, click on videos and go to the one called AutoCAD Fund.: dimensions.
I wanna mean, I'd like to see you making the entire drawing that you were pushing from PDF!
Dear can you make a video to learn project navigator
how to make overhead cutting in roof
how can add furnitures on autocad architecture
Use the DesignCenter, shortcut 'DC'. Drag blocks into your drawing.
what is "o, snaps?"
Thank you.
Thanks!
how do i switch to autocad architecture, because build is not showing in my menu ?? any idea
It is different software than regular AutoCAD. Download or buy it...
