Thank you so much I was able to fix this problem! And thank you for all the educational videos you posted here I've learned so much more about autocad than when I was in arch. school.
Question marks in a schedule mean that some objects are being included that do not have data assigned. You can either exclude those objects from the schedule, filter them out using a classification, or track down where those objects are in your project to see if you want to consider using a different object. E.g. many times I see people use a "cased opening" when they should use an "opening." This gives them an extra line in the door schedule because they have included an unnecessary frame.
That fact that the units are an issue probably means you started from a Metric template, so you may continue to have unit problems. The unit type for the property set data can be controlled via the Style Manager. Go to the Manage ribbon tab, Style Manager, expand Documentation Objects, and Property Data Formats. In order to know which to change, you may need to also look at Property Set Definitions, DoorObjects, and the Definition tab on the right.
Making a custom window style requires a polyline of the shape, defining that as a profile, Editing a window style, and then choosing that profile to apply. The Help text within AutoCAD Architecture would be a great place to learn how to do this.
How do I change my window units to fet and inches? I already set the units to inches but everytime I do the window schedule it show the units in mm. Also there are question marks below
@jeremytf77 Hi, how can i keep glass and frames into separate layers of the same window such that when i convert the window into 3d solids usign convoto3dsolids command, the glass and the frames sit on their respective layers rather than get united.
Edit the window display properties to assign specific layers however you want. You can do this via the Display Manager or Style Manager (Manage ribbon tab).
Inside my door schedule the width and height are in decimal units and are not in feet and inches. How do I get my wd and height to show feet and inches?
gogetta90001 This tells you that you started your project down the wrong path. Be careful in (a) which icon on the desktop you use to open the program, (b) which template you use for a new project file, (c) what tool palette tools you use. Those decisions (or not carefully making the decisions) will set the drawing units, units of the object styles, schedules, etc. You can fix this one particular thing but you are likely to continue having units problems until you scrub them all.
gogetta90001 To fix this particular item, go to ribbon tab named 'Manage.' Click on Style Manager. Expand Documentation Objects. Expand Property Set Definitions. Click on DoorObjects, In the right window, go to Definition tab. Highlight the row for Height or Width. Look across that row to find the Format column. Make a note of what the format is set to. For me it is 'Length Long.' Now back in the left window, expand Property Data Formats. Click on the data format you noted earlier (such as Length Long). In the right window, set the unit format to Architectural
jeremytf77 Thank You for your reply I'm trying to learn this software for a job. I know Revit and AutoCAD with experience so I'm not completely new to cad. These videos are a life saver thanks for your help I'll give it a thumbs up.
Excellent, helpful video. Also, a good instructor who thorough explains why and why not.
