Hero.
Thanks bro 🤘🏻
I remember listening to that on Myspace, saying to myself "damn, too bad that this type of band isn't much more popular". Couldn't believe that Ghost would go as far as it is nowadays, incredible journey.
I wish I heard them in 2010!
Sounding nothing like this so it's not the same thing
Well, they only became popular because they don't sound like that anymore and just focused on the old generic rock formula for posers
Very deep meanings to EVERYTHING Tobias does❤❤
@@AmandarhammosYou realize fans are listening to ALL of their albums, right? Tumblr alone still goes insane for Opus Eponymous.
Holy shit. Tobias brought this power house so fucking far… it’s incredible. A lesson in rock history
Yeah, just wish there could've been even more info or social media interactions from the band and about their growing path...granted that was part of their "mystique" and anonymity back then🤷♂️
These are bloody good for demos, but I cannot for the life of me get over the fact that the cover art looks like Papa if he were a Pokemon ^-^;
Indeed
I was thinking it's more of a child Papa. Like the boy who played the Papa in the Cirice video but younger. Demo=early, early=young.
I’m so unimmersed by this comment
What has been seen...
Papamon
I’m so glad that the demo tape is still out there on the internet. I always find it fascinating to listen to how much the songs evolved over time.
after watching the 1 hour long Sweden podcast with Tobias, and knowing his backstory with his brother and how much he fought for, this man is my hero now, thank you for existing Tobias Forge.

I love how simple and raw this is. Especially that cover. I want it on a shirt. I might do that it's very easy.
@nabokov orbust idk ive never made a shirt
idk why i said very easy
@@zachsmith3 Depending on what state you live in; go to the mall. You'd be amazed how commonly accessible original shirts are now.
Why do I like this so much more? The underproduced sound makes them sound more like an amateur band that every amateur band wants to be.
Link de la foto
They were an amateur band here...
It’s really amazing how talented Tobias is, first to completely make this demo himself (and basically all of their music) Also how he keeps himself in a lower register for the older Papa I and then continue to shape his voice to sound younger as the characters got younger.
well i mean hed been a musician for like 10 years it would be odd if he didnt know how to make a demo
@@MortanAMrk You would be surprised how many musicians are still inept by the time they've been playing for 10 years.
Actually “Alpha” (Simon Soderberg) recorded, mixed and produced the entire first album and any demos, and a demo version of Infestissumam. He did the guitar parts, he was the lead guitarist since Ghost inception.
@@iblisdiabolus1752 true, I think they just meant he wrote most of it, and also they did say “basically” implying not actually all of it and just most of it if that makes sense.

This should be protected in a museum 🖤

The way he said bathory... something about that got me. It was beautiful....
god SAME
@nabokov orbust what?
Death Knell sounds so much more minimal and scary as a demo. It gives off scary tape you find in the woods vibes.
this is one of the best demo albums ive ever heard. i love how clear tobias’s vocals are, and how theyre not overpowered by the instrumentals. thank you for uploading this
How great is his voice back in this time…awesome
Chorus of Elizabeth is so less processed - you can really hear him say 'Bathory'
How the hell are you verified?
@@gavinkyle9252 right?
Ehm... In the final version you can hear, too xd
@@leonardocaychocasani750 ok - I deeply apologise for not writing 'you can hear him more clearly in the demos'
@@gavinkyle9252 people seem to get really annoyed by this o_O - I'm not sure why it happened, but I believe it might be to do with my old Google + account, when they were trying to force everyone to use their 'real name' I talked to them and said I am me, and showed them my other accounts (soundcloud etc.) - all I wanted was to not have them force me to change my Google + account name, but I believe whatever they did then led to RUclips being verified (as Google+ and RUclips were once in some ways the same login accounts I think).
Holy shit. Elizabeth is heavy as fuck here
tobias’s voice is so beautiful
Thank you Tobias! For the best band of 21st century
LMFAOOOO
Prime Mover is amazing! I love hearing his vocals without them being overpowered by the music. Hands down one of my absolute favorites! 🖤👻
Yaaas
Same lol
Prime Mover and Death Knell are SUPER underrated. Pure classics.
I'm the oddball who tends to like the demos more than the final versions, just my punk/garage upbringing I guess. This is no exception.
Same way. And I hate when I can no longer find the demo versions or the more raw alt versions that were on that other releases
As a musician, I enjoy the journey to the final product. I love thinking about how some sat down and said " you know what this needs here". Its almost like this is a different band and Ghost did a badass cover.
Well as far as demo's go this is the clearest and most similar to the official recording of any demo I've ever heard... But that being said the majority of demo's I've heard are from black metal bands where they recorded with a potato and all you can really hear is tons of noise, sounds that sound like people dragging tables along floors above you, or punching things while underwater, because they're so muffled.
So yeah this Is kinda strange for me that it sounds so similar to the songs in the first album. Honestly the really rough demo's are probably more interesting because they're more unique. But this is interesting too!
That Elizabeth is insane
like insainity cluase
Can’t stop listening to Ghost. TF is a brilliant musician! 🤘
Same here 🤘🏼😎👻🖤
Me neither! Hi from Brazil!
I'm addicted to ghost big time
@@maddyboombaddybaddy6532 hows the addiction? mines just began
@@barneyts I just am so fascinated at all the little sounds and melodies in every song
2:03 - 2:18 with they'd keep that double bass, sounds sick
that’s… in the album version too?
@aquaticrooster there's no double bass on the album version.
I love this version of Elizabeth, so much more aggressive 🤘🏼🤘🏼
saw these guys with volbeat a few months ago. didn’t know any songs from them but they put on a good ass show i had to go through some of their albums
I don’t think I ever loved a demo more than I love this one. But death knell is by far the best. If he were to sing this again, oh boy.
I adore how he sings the word 'bathory' in the song 'elizabeth'.
Why is it that when I find old ghost stuff, I always get nostalgic??? It says this was recorded in 2008, I was 3 years old, yet I’m feeling really nostalgic over this??? Either way, I love these demos. I love Ghost’s sound in general and it’s hard to pick a favorite album, but there’s just something so neat about hearing an unpolished rough draft of a song. These sound so amazing :)
05 gang!! I'd love to have this in a casette or something, it totally has the cover of a niche album you'd find at a flea market or something lol
Oh shit '05 boys. (Or girls, or other!)
@@mknacho4187 Hello fellow uncle jobel fan.
im right there w u
i was BORN in '08 and this feels nostalgic, probably because it reminds me of how far ghost has come since then. ive been a fan for just over a year now and its INSANE how much they have grown over the span of 12 months, and looking back over recording of era 1 & 2 and seeing how small their crows were compared to now is just breathtaking.
This demo album goes beast mode🤘🤘 I first discovered Ghost BC back in 2013 when their 2nd album came out. Saw the thumbnail of Papa Emeritus II for their video of Secular Haze and I fell madly in love with them. The way the video was made to look like an old TV show appearance and the swirling circus sounds od the keyboard blew my mind.
The Mask
That’s how I became a fan! :)
Ghost*
I also became a fan due to Secular Haze!
@@MelioraSR At that particular time (Infestissumam), they had to go by Ghost B.C. in the US because another band held the trademark to the name Ghost at the time. That band allowed Ghost to use the name before they released Meliora, and the rest is history.
@@loganmclarry Yes, I know that.
I'm weird, but I find these and the acoustic versions I can find better than the versions that come out for release. Wonderful to find these. More please, if available! I love how clear Tobias' voice sounds.
Damn this is good for a demo I love this raw version. His voice is beautiful clear back then. Thank you for the upload.
Wow, Elizabeth sounds awesome. Much more agressive.
Thx for these, man. Unlike the majority of demos, that one will listen to in retrospect with a sort of morbid curiosity digging into the past of a band that has become famous, but that are actually too painful to listen to more than once (if we care to be honest and objective), this is great material and very enjoyable. Musically it's very obvious that Tobias has created a totally unique sound and musical landscape.
Hm, in comparison with newest Ghost's songs it sounds much more atmospheric and even "unholier"
Hauntingly beautiful! 👻🖤
Its because opus fit more in the metal genre while prequelle is a classic rock album.
The band is kinda Bowiesh, I love how each phase/album has a different taste
@@meatz666 Fr!
I think that’s mostly personal preference/bias speaking. Even now as of Impera Ghost retains its atmosphere. What changed was what time period of music is being paid homage to. You probably just prefer early heavy metal to 80s arena rock.
These demos really catch that late 60s metal vibe
Elizabeth is so more agressive, amazing !!!
the 'tism is really goin crazy over this
The OG Ritual hits hard
i'm only halfway through Ritual, but OH this is filthy, so good!! has a vibe i can't describe, but i think everyone feels :) absolute joy to listen to, köszi!!
Holy shit, crazy to think this existed when I was still in highschool. I'm 26 now and barely found out about these guys right before popestar came out
I went to their second Swedish show ever at a small club in the city of Visby back in 2011. VERY minimalistic and Amazing.
Almost makes you wish you’d discover them when in high school. Same age as you
I was 5 when this was released, wish I found them sooner than a month ago! Amazing, talented band!
I kick myself for not sticking with them from the start. I first heard them through That Metal Show when Opus was one of the guys album if the week or something. I liked it but I was like 17 and still naive and the whole satanic thing deterred me. Wasn’t until I heard Cirice on the radio when Meliora came out and now they are probably my favorite band now.
@Megan don't feel bad a co worker introduced me to them when infestiatum was out. I was hooked on secular haze. I was 40 something then 49 now and have the collection on cd and vinyl! These guys rock!🤘
Elizabeth definitely has that King Diamond vocal thing going on.
Thankfully not as screechy and corny though.
@@T-roccBABY it's an aquired taste but King Diamond has some tracks with good vocals, a dangerous meeting by mercyful fate is a classic for instance
@@AgentLemmon I've tried so many times but it just doesn't do it for me, no matter how many attempts I just can't haha. Live show might be fun though

I feel "Black Sabbath" over here
I thought that cool huh
every year, at least once in a few months, i re-listen this album. Stunning mix of garage and cult theme. I will actually believe, that it was an album from some cultist band, that was found deep in burned and sieged by feds house. 10/10
Ghost my Drug 😍😍😍😍😍😍
If in a bad mood, blast up some Ghost! 👻🖤
elizabeth sounds almost like a black metal track ILOVEIT
Love this band. The more I hear the more I like. Awesome.
Compositionally and sonically, the shadow of Blue Oyster Cult looms large in the Ghost sound.
and noooooobody believed me in 2010 in the 10th grade when i told my friends, watch this is gonna be one of the biggest bands in the world in 10 years. Impera was 2022 so i was CLOSE lol
This was the first recording I'd ever heard of theirs back when they were just getting mentioned in magazines, I thought the vocals on the first track sounded like a mini version of King Diamonds style at a lower octave. And that's a good thing for me. Overall they actually remind me of Arthur Brown. Also good.
I love elizabeth but I gotta admit the demo version here sounds soo danm epic than the one we have
It's almost a mercyful Fate clone band
Some day I hope to find a recorded version of "Satans Natt" which was the first working title for "Stand By Him". Judging by the name it's probably got Swedish lyrics and I'd love to hear those.
Yes, the lyrics were originally written in Swedish. I’m not sure if a recording was ever released though.
Like Stand by Him was originally going to be called "Stand by Her."

Prime mover and death knell are my favorite songs of all time and I like the ones on here btter.
This is raw. Loved it
Elizabeth sounds almost like the album version pitched up. It's not, but it's very very close to that

Death Knell, I can feel EzDrummer here :D

Love the double on the kick drum
Performed by one person, all this.
That's right, he also played on drums for these demos, and the first Water Ghoul helped him to record the first 5 tracks including Satans Natt which is a demo version for Stand By Him.
The drums are programmed. One of the original members said it and by listening you can hear it as well.
