Dan has pretty bad depth perception and Mario Party requires a lot of 3d movement and depth perception to play the games. Couple that with his big thumbs making traditional controllers hard to use... it's no small wonder.
Mario Party requires a lot of fast reaction time. Unfortunately at Dan's age he just doesn't have the mental capacity to keep up. Kinda cruel of Arin really. Dan's generation didn't fight the Nazi's just to be treated this way.
Kiki sending him in the star's direction a grand total of once, and only because he was landing on a dolphin space to take him away didn't help matters, either.

@-- In pretty much all Mario Party games Boo always let you either steal coins or stars. The crystal ball lets you do that. So basically, normal play by Arin to completely skip it without a second thought.
funny enough if arin had bought the crystal ball he would have LOST. The extra 25 coins to buy the ball would have set his coins below dk at the end of the game. He wouldn't have enough money to steal again
