You should give Compton Abbas a try! Talk about a hidden gem! Will also see some chalk hill men too
16:07 non-stick. No expense spared there!
What a great friendly enterprising aerodrome,it is refreshing to see such comraderie which obviously works well in running the airfield even down to plugging the grass from rabbit damage, that is no mean runway either ! with all of the doom and gloom of airfield closures due to pesky deverlopments this place is good news indeed, well done everyone and onwards and upwards as they say, bravo to a great bunch of aviators !
Enjoyed this video! You should make this into a series of airfields that should be visited. I got my PPL a few months ago and sometimes unsure of what new airfields to visit but I’ll definitely be going to seething after watching this!
Glad to have caught your channel from Houston, TX, U.S.A. Love the rotating hangar set-up, must pitch that to my hangar mates!
Thanks for watching Buck.
This was fantastic viewing Jon. Love the revolving floor. Fabulous to see a group of likeminded enthusiasts working together.
Thank you Rory.
Fascinating Jon !!!
What a brilliant airfield Jon! I will differently visit Seething this summer - Great video and thank you Jon
Wishing you the best in your new venture. A brave move but I am sure you won't regret it and do very well at it. My continued thanks for taking us along with you on your jaunts near and far.
Great video Jon of a fascinating club and aerodrome. Good luck with your new venture.
Great video as always Jon. Good luck with the new venture!
Loveing everyone of your videos Jon! Its nice to see the UK from above as well as unique airports!
Thanks Kai.
What a terrific airfield and such dedicated volunteers.
Wow, just visited Seething one day before you did, on our ferry flight from Scotland to the Netherlands. Lovely little airfield and a warm welcome by Alan. We could only stay a short time, so we didn’t get to see everything, so very nice you made a video! I love places like these. Thanks Jon!
Thanks Dennis. Glad you got to enjoy their friendliness first hand.
Fab video, Jon. I love a flight into Seething as there’s always a warm welcome, plenty of people to chat to and often good food on offer if you book ahead.
There were freshly baked sausage rolls on the day I visited. I hear that Wednesday and Sunday are best days to visit.
Great video once again, Jon, having watched all your videos during lockdown over the last year , they have been a fantastic inspiration for me having now started my flight training at lee on solent in the last month ( weather permitting) after only 2 hours training , I have bought my first plane ( socata 180) as this is i believe the way to do it, no rental, no shares , and got something at the end of it. So thanks very much and hope I bump into you one day at some airfield in the future.
I had some fantastic memories of camping at Seething airfield as an Air Scout.. a long time ago. I had my first ever light aircraft flight from Seething when I was 12 years old, I'll never forget it.
12...that's brilliant. A really nice place, Seething.
@@TheFlyingReporter it was a gift from a friend. It set me on my path to gaining my PPL out of Norwich Airport at age 17. Never stopped flying since. It how my channel came about, and similar to yours, sharing our passion for flying.
Great content , what a superbly organised airfield . Those guys can be well proud of what they have achieved 👍
What a lovely friendly airfield . I enjoyed your video as usual Jon , your usual high standards again . All my best wishes for your new venture and it’s continued success . I see Rory and Ben have started a similar business venture .
Organised much like a traditional gliding club. The other way of having your aircraft available without having to shuffle others around in the hanger is a linear hanger. This is a long thin hanger with sliding doors on either side
Thank you for another great quality video, Jon, very interesting. I shall pay a visit to Seething, it looks to be a fascinating place. Good luck with the career change, I know what it feels like as I a doing it myself at the moment!
What a fantastic place and people! Very, very good vídeo John!
Superb video and looks like a lovely set up at Seething.
I heard a few calls there for GGG, I had a flight some many years ago in a piper tomahawk G BGGG. I do wonder???
Marvellous episode - really well put together. What a wonderful place Seething is as well. It has just made my 2021 list for sure.
Thanks Nick.
Hi Jon, enjoyed the video - my Dad was a member there in the 60’s and I spent many happy days helping out.
Thanks Guy.
Good luck with your new ventures Jon.
I really enjoyed that, Jon, and look forward to other interesting airfields you find on you travels 👌👏👏
Thanks Kevin. Hope you're keeping well sir.
Would be nice to see some younger members getting involved, although I know that they probably don't have as much free time.
A superb quality video Jon, seems like the channel will come on leaps & bounds & i wish you the best of luck with all your plans.
I really like the look of that place & it is just the sort of airfield worth visiting.
Looking forward to meeting you in august, date already in the diary.
Stay safe.
Thank you Sean. Looking forward to seeing you too
Great video! Looking forward to seeing even more content!
Thanks. Please subscribe for notifications if you can.
Great documentary video Jon. Will definitely pay a visit to Seething when we can travel again in Europe. All the best with your new projects. My airplane is based at EDFE in Germany and they do have a similar rotating system in some of the hangars (usually used for larger planes, alternating high and low wings). I actually think it is quite optimal in the way it uses the space since the tail goes towards the centre and the only unused areas are the corners of the hangar that are generally used to store "stuff"
Excellent video as usual Jon. I had Seething down as a potential diversion on a trip I was planning but obviously a good destination in its own right. Best of luck with your new venture and your channel is a great showcase for your skills.
Thank you Chris.
Jon this is great content I must say! And those floors....the amount of times I’ve had to move 3 or 4 or more planes to get to the aircraft I’m taking out that day, think of the hours I’d have saved! Excellent stuff, thanks again
Cheers Ben.
Good luck in your new venture!
I'm hoping to get my PPL in the next month or two. I'll definitely make Seething a high priority when I do. Thank you for this. It was a very moving video and it seems like a gem of a place. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Max.
Hi Jon, good luck with your new venture, I’m sure it will be a huge success because your
Videos are fantastic. 👌😀Steve.
Thanks Steve.
Lovely videos - just subscribed to your channel and love it. All the best with your own business.
Thanks for subscribing.
Super TOP quality picture and montage, really, it looks a professional commercial tv episode ... GREAT !!! Thanks for sharing !!!
Thanks for watching - be sure to subscribe if you can.
What a lovely airfield, thanks for showing us round!
Cheers Joe.
Great video, I’ll definitely be giving Seething a visit over the summer. Really enjoy this type of content
Thanks Alexander. The channel is constantly evolving, and responding to viewer needs, so useful to know what works and what doesn't.
@@TheFlyingReporter This style of video is really enjoyable and the production quality is outstanding; keep up the great work!
@@user-jp3ru1dw3k Thank you.
Another fine Video I must say
Great video! Always a pleasure to watch!
Thanks Richard.
Simply Luv these vids Seething Aerodome would deffo be a place I'd visit
Excellent report on a very interesting airfield. What a novel idea the aircraft turntables are!
I have always held the view that “everything happens for a reason” so as your tenure with the BBC came to an end, another opportunity presented itself.
Your filming, production and editing are a great example of “how it should be done” so I am sure your new venture will be successful and I (along with all your other supporters, no doubt) wish you the very best of luck with it.
Regards from the Wirral.
I hope so Darren... Daunting times, but I know I have the community's support. Thank you for being there for me. Jon
Thank you for your videos 😍
Greta video Jon, seething is a great little airfield
It certainly is.
Great video John
Thank you Paul.
What a great little airfield, and a fantastic community.
Can't argue with you on that!
Nice video Jon, many thanks.
Cheers.
Great video Jon, content excellent without making these vids too long could you include the "£100 burger" and any other interesting facts ie museums, warbirds on site. Loved the "Simon Keeling" shirt. Not able to fly in to the fly in but planning on driving in. I feel that if you are a member of a flying club then members should play whatever part they can in its running and become a volunteer, we all want clubs to prosper.
I've often seen the rotating floors but never seen them rotating. Great video. Thank you.
Glad to be of service.
Jon, very enjoyable video as usual.. if your ever up this way again , then I would highly recommend Beccles Aerodrome to visit. Just had a new tarmac runway laid and the new club house/ restaurant is very well decorated, servs fab food. Plus the Double decker bus and outside marque are a qerky place to eat.. keep up the great work regards Jeremy the Bald Flyer.
Thanks Jeremy.
I loved the first 40 seconds :)
Hi Jon, What a lovely airfield and great concept. Loved the turntable (And saucepan!) Glad the flying community could help Alan through very sad times. P.S You flew over my building again, must get the engineers to paint "Hi Jon" on the roof!😂
If you could Stuart, and a 700 metre strip would be nice, then I could drop in.
@@TheFlyingReporter Thanks Jon, Ill have a chat with the building firm next door! 🤣🤣
Very nice and interesting video Jon. One of my favourite places to visit and as you say, a very friendly crew. Don’t forget that there is a very interesting control tower museum on the field. Check their website for open days.
Thanks Tim. Unfortunately, they were still closed to covid, and didn't respond to my emails...so...sadly, couldn't be featured.
Hi Jon,
Looks like a superb airfield that, another one to add to the "must visit" list.
Come up to Breighton, I am sure I can organise a hangar tour of the collection aircraft for you.
Melanie.
Thanks Melanie..That could be good. Do you want to email me/contact me through my website, and we can talk about it sometime? Additionally, I see they do wing-walking - I have someone determined to make me do one!
@@TheFlyingReporter Yeah I will send you an e-mail. Yes they do, I have watched that old Stearman doing its thing on many an occasion. I have to say I'd rather be in the pilots seat than on top of the wing though!
Great video Jon, interesting to see the story of the airfield and how its run. I echo your comments about the welcome you get at Seething, and the unusual hangar turntables, I’ve enjoyed going there as well. The USAF control tower is worth a mention and a visit too, its on the opposite side and end of the airfield so its a bit of a walk from the current clubhouse, but definitely worth visiting when they’re open.
Not sure if you knew that your planned RUclips flyin at Halfpenny Green is on the same weekend as the Popham Microlight Trade Show, which may limit your visitors?
It was still closed when I went Geoff.
Jon, you should try a new App called SafeSky. It warns of any traffic within 5 miles of your position if it has any squawk active. Can be depicted with Skydemon if you use split screen. Tried it, works great and...is free!
Me Father and I would switch between Warriors and 172s each one deffo fun to fly
Thanks for bringing us that - really interesting! Personally, I'd have liked to have seen if there was any evidence of the wartime structures - I could see the apron you were on was original, for instance.
Thanks Kevin.
what if you want to work on your aircraft? are you allowed to work on it while it's on the turntable or does it have to be taken off?
Nice discovery, great little airfield. I won't comment on your shirt, its a little g..
Oi!
I'm looking forward to the fly in! That being said I'm based there so it will be a bit more of a drive in for me! Although I am tempted to go for a circuit so I can claim I "flew in".
You could try Alex. Might be busy!
@@TheFlyingReporter Wouldn't surprise me! With 3 flying schools it tends to be busy anyway.
4 I think
Not a specific location to visit but a feature on Air Racing would be interesting.
I agree, that would be good.
Are you planning another get together this year year?
Pls do an aviation podcast. Your voice is perfect
Thanks for the compliment.
What is the software you use on the iPad in flight?
Skydemon
Just sent you an email regarding your new venture! 😊
That was really interesting Jon how much do they charge for landing fees?
I used to camp at Seething airfield when I was in the Air Scouts ( that was a long time ago). It was a young lads dream to explore.
A donation....I think they have a recommended sum.
Was thinking about having a flight in Anglian Warbirds Stearman, then I saw the price! Went with Classic wings Tiger Moth.
I'm glad you found an aircraft that was in your price bracket. These old war birds are very expensive to run and operate.
@@TheFlyingReporter I know, maybe I'll do the stearman next year.
Awesome. It's something to save up for, for sure. I've seen some of the maintenance bills...they are eye-watering.
@@TheFlyingReporter Good to know they are so thorough with maintenance.
Why are alot leaving the BBC from Radio hosts to tv Presenters etc . Good to try it on Your I suppose :)
Wait. If you plug your own business on that flight, does that count as commercial? There's bound to be some caa busy body thinking that.
No.
@@TheFlyingReporter It made me laugh when they had to clarify what payload meant in case someone thought you could carry some load and get paid for it. Great vid, good luck with your ventures. I'll probably see you around at my local - Wolverhampton in August. Its crazy busy there even mid-week.
chill with the death grip
airspeed is NOT alive (ITS INCREASING) for gods sake why are British pilots talking like Americans. Speed alive MAKES NO SENSE..
I say it just to annoy you Rob.
nice film and Seething looks wonderful..
