damn i am so jealous of people like you with creativity. i tried this once, found out my glue sucked bad, gave up and went to play batman arkham city... map looks beautiful, well done.
The lights are Christmas lights, icicle style. I ran the lights underneath the map and drilled holes where I needed them. I then went to McDonalds and picked up a bunch of straws. Their straws are bigger than most. I cut it to length, cut the side to slide the wire in, then it glued and painted it appropriately. Good luck on your crafts!
Most of the commentary is available on the Duo Attack Podcast on ITunes or Stitcher. However, in short, most of the buildings are photoshopped google images finds tweaked with paint or simply paint alone. Print outs were made on cardstock. Paint went directly on the foam board.
I built a graphic in photoshop and placed the grids on top of the graphic. As far as buildings, those are real buildings! Some from the internet, others I took a photo of. I had to do some touchup work in photoshop to make it to scale. You can google "building facade" or something similar to get results. Also, I printed on card stock for a stronger medium.
Your two maps are awesome. Thank you for sharing. Two quick questions. 1 - What program are you using to print out the playing field with the grind. 2 - I've been looking for (free) heroclix building printouts similar to yours but couldn't find any. What should I be searching for? Or where should I go or do to get those started? Thanks =D
For the grid work, I created 3x5 sheets on to standard size card stock sheets. Each one was different depending on the texture needed for the spot it was going in. Made them in photoshop and didn't plan on saving the pieces. Sorry!
Could you email me some of the buildings sides and walls that you made in photoshop? I really need them since im making my own map and dont have photoshop. Nice map btw!
You can do it! I'm working on my second 6-player map. After that, I'm going to switch to smaller style maps. I'll announce more info about this on the next Duo Attack Podcast, episode 004. Feel free to PM me for any needed tips!

Each square is 1.75 inches. It's 33x21 squares. The tallest point is 18 inches. Divided into thirds, it's like 3 11x21 1 on 1 maps.

Yes. It is where we play our clix. They open the venue to accommodate pokemon players, but it has become primarily a Magic:TG venue.
That 3D map is so GOOD it's ridiculous! Well done!
And you can hear more about it on the Duo Attack Podcast on ITunes.
Thanks for checking it out!

Any chance you could upload the grid so I could build my own maps please? ;-)
