Powder coating is like painting, except more durable on metal surfaces. To powder coat a part you connect it to a small electrostatic generator and then spray it with a powder. The electrostatic charge causes the powder to stick to the part. Then you bake the part to set the powder coat into a durable finish.
Congratulations, an engine with a fantastic finish. In my opinion, it is one of the most difficult to build engines, where it is necessary to find the perfect alignment to avoid the excesses of friction. Leandro Wagner.
Congrats, very nice engine. I was wondering about one thing though: what would be if you would add small blades to the inner side of the flywheel to increase air movement around the cooling fins? That should increase the amount of heat dissipated at that area, thus the temperature gradient would increase as well, which in turn would make your engine run/start up a bit faster. Just a thought.
@@clickbaitcrawler Good point, but I think the gains generated by the far larger amount of heat dissipated would be greater than the loss due to drag. Air really does suck at conveying heat away when only natural convection is used, so even a small amount of forced convection can mean a great deal. As I have written in my previous comment, I would only add small blades and not large ventilator styled ones, which in turn would be just enough to induce the small, but from a dissipation perspective quite significant forced convection. Or I may be completely wrong. It would be nice to make some calculations on this.

Excellent engineering, but is that rhombic drive with all those axle and sliding friction points not dragging it back a bit? I ask this because years ago I think I got about the same speed with an un-engineered, makeshift alpha model made out of tin cans, wire hangers and epoxy putty (it had a short working life)
You can get the plans and build one yourself. Building one yourself is pretty cool too because it's that extra feeling of accomplishment and something to be proud of. I don't know.... that might just be me.
Is that an electric motor generator under the hot head? Why so close? Is there a Stirling engine, on the market, big enough to heat a room (or house) and generate electric?
Would the temperature of the cylinder directly above the flame be higher if you somehow disabled the engines ability to create mechanical energy? (ie weld the piston to the inside if the cylinder). I suspect that since the engine would not be converting the heat into mechanical energy, the temperature of the cylinder would reach a higher temperature.
Nice work man! To light up the LED full brightness or at lower speed I suggest implementing a joule thief converter to boost up the voltage delivered to the LED!!
I wonder if the performance could be increased with a shroud placed over the upper half of the heated end to reflect the rising heat back down to the cylinder.

This is amazing. I can appreciate the skill and craftsmanship that went into making this engine. For those who realize that aspect of it, it makes it that much more awesome. Did you use a solid modeling program to design and machine these parts?
Solid Works is a 3D solid modeling program. It can be used to design and animate parts. It can also run a milling machine that is equipped to run off software. There are plenty of Solid Works videos if you are curious.
hello HiTechDiver. oh yes I know that SolidWorks is but I do not use that, I use simple drawings and for my CNC milling machine I make drawings in AutoCAD LT and with those dimensions I create the CNC program myself. Most changes or adjustments I invent itself during construction. Greetings Ed van den Berg
Nice job. Stick a few of 1.5 volt common rechargeable batteries in series that way the light will be steady. Also figure out a good way to get 5v so you can charge cells and other devices. Just change the generator, or change the pully to make it go faster. For example it might have a hard time starting up when connected to totally dead batteries, but if that is the case after changing the pully, then don't let the battery bank on the stirling get that low, charge them as you charge the devices. But you will need the battery bank on the stirling for those reasons, like if you bring a totally dead cell over to charge it, then the stirling can handle it with the already charged bank, and also you will start the stirling as you charge the cell also.

This is amazing. I can appreciate the skill and craftsmanship that went into making this engine. For those who realize that aspect of it, it makes it that much more awesome. Did you use a solid modeling program to design and machine these parts?
HiTechDiver, Thanks for the compliments. I do not know what you meant by Did you use a solid. Sorry. Greetings Ed van den Berg.
Where buy this stuff?
Nice little engine. You must be pleased it runs so well.
Yes I do Thanks
What does the rhombic drive do for the engine?
Can give your phone Number please.
Where can i get the plans wanna also build one ?

Here is the address in Germany where you can order the drawings, regards Ed van den Berg
Dankie !
4:32 "Blew out the FLAM?
flame
but vlam is flame in dutch
Wow, that is a piece of true art. Well Done.
F. Huff. Thanks
Very good Job!!
Can you sell?
no sorry not for sale

Is only for your plesure?
The engine starts spinning at 3:20 you're welcome.
It's beautiful...(wipes off the tear in my eye)
Anyone knows about a stirling that uses a the piston to move up and down a coppercoil for making electricity? And even better a liquid piston thats magnetic in a glasstube with the coils around the tube.
Beautiful work. Where can I get drawings, so I too can build one?
Such a fine piece of work!
Terence Hawkes Thanks
Awesome engine! I'm going to build one very efficient stirling engine too.
Your project doesn't have an regenerator, does it?
Fernando Lener it's right there
Wow Ed super nice! Zero runout on that flywheel!
Hope all is well.
Hello jlw 1911 thanks for the compliments. I do my best to have no sway in my flywheels, I now make a keyway in the wheel then he will no longer sway and secure it against the ball bearings. the rest is all right here. I'm busy again on a new project a vacuum engine with the name Lutz from the firm Bengs. I have again a drawing where most dimensions not stand because it is a kit made of finished parts but that's a good thing. I greet you again and you hear it as my new engine is ready. Best regards from the Netherlands.
Ed van den Berg
You should time the LED with the rotation. Then you could make it look like it is standing still.
Wow echt super gaaf. Dit is echt wel het top punt van vakmanschap!!
tornado214 bedankt
Have you tried making a tesla turbine run off one of those?
Amazing video and a beautiful Stirling engine. Where would i be able to get the plans so that i can start this project myself?
Rhombic drive?
What is that?
Dustin Krejci, What you see in the movie is a rhombic drive where two pistons are driven by two gears
Ed van den Berg So what is the benefit of having this kind of gear set?
Dustin Krejci then you can run two pistons in a one cylinder driven by two gears
Ed van den Berg What’s the benefit of doing that?
Dustin Krejci , the purpose of this is to find out what possibilities there are to discover the operation of this machine and see if this operation can be improved in any way and if the operation can be improved and made simpler and better
You sell it?
Hidrogenio Global. not for sale sorry
👏I'm imagining 1 or more springs of different configurations on the shaft, what the engine's behavior would be.
Hi where i can buy your product Thanks
massimo buby doubt that you can at all
how many horse power?
Please give a animation video of how the machine works.
