Out. Of. Control. He has sung backgrounds for just about everyone. He has the ability to blend perfectly for backgrounds but he has so much character that he's also a phenomenal lead. How he's managed to hang on to his range at his age is just astounding. He would have been about 60 by this point. He's pacing himself a bit but no man should be able to hit those notes at his age. That voice defies gravity.
Not only does he have an incredible voice, but his “ear” is outrageous!!! Not many vocalists sing chromatically, and that last note…..are you kidding me???! Simply beautiful!!

Everybody just knows what to do and to follow his lead. True artistry.

Love the way he changes octaves and goes off into solo, I guess it"s called, vamping on a lot of his recordings. This performance here takes your breath away. He expresses the emotion of this song so beautifully. You caught something special with this video. He probably sounds this way in rehearsal all time.

you can really judge the quality of a singer oftentimes by the reactions of his own musicians. Zoom in and watch his background singers individually while he's doing his solo thing near the end and you'll see what i mean😉

It don't matter about the rehearsal because when the artist get out in front of that audience, they're feeding off of each other's energy, and the artist just does some amazing, surprising things that astound all the listeners, like was exhibited here.
