just a tip for not being able to shower, I purchased a black card membership at Planet Fitness for like $23ish/month and was able to shower at every location across the US. And I was able to sleep in a number of gym parking lots that were open 24 hours. Another fun tip is sleeping in hotel parking lots and sneaking in and posing as a guest to grab a free breakfast in the morning (usually around 7:30-8am)
When I was a kid my family always kept a journal on road trips. I have one from 1964. In it I saw gas prices around 30 cents a gallon. A family of 5 could spend the day at Disneyland for just under $25, including parking. A Motel in Jackson Hole Wyoming was $14 for the night. These memories are priceless and I relive them every time I pull out and thumb through a journal.
I live full time in my van and have never had to plug in a coffee pot. I heat water on a butane stove and use a milita pour over coffee cone. Check it out, $3.99 is cheaper than 8 bucks and no urinals included.
@@corydriver7634 I don't remember what I paid for it, but they are on walmart website for about $20. I am sure you can find them on amazon too and I think any sporting good store.
Serenity Craft the point was you paid as much or more than 8 bucks to make coffee. 3.99 for the pour over, plus stove, plus something to boil water in. Granted you don’t need electricity and you can use the stove and pot for other things but still not cheaper. I’ll give you the no urinal part, though this idiot probably could have found another receptacle.
Good info and wisdom on actually experiencing travel vs capturing. I use a kettle that plugs into my car's cigarette lighter, great for meal prep and sponge baths
A very sincere video, thank you so much. Am a 45 yo European planning to take an epic trip across the States, starting form this very video, planning to watch this maybe 10 more times. Thank you, great advice there, I like to feel how enthusiastic ur about this. Thanks!
Hey friend, You can also heat water with a ‘coil’. You immerse it in a cup of water & plug into wall. Sometimes ACE hardware store has them but you can get them through AMAZON. They also have them that fit in a car power outlet. They are great to have!
In Albuquerque that's just saying hello! 🤣 But for real, if you live there you'll get used to the gun fire. Actually as great place to live. I miss it.
Carlsbad Caverns.... Carlsbad New Mexico, not Texas. Texas has enough grate things let New Mexico have ours!😂 but other then that this video got me pumped to start Adventuring and exploring! So excited with these tips!
Ehem. Albuquerque guy here. Really depends on the area dude. I've lived here half my life and have not once seen nor heard of a shoot out at a Walmart. I see RV's parked at Walmarts all the time.
Yup being from Albuquerque I can honestly say it's not worth coming here, it's nicknamed the land of entrapment for a reason, avoid it at all costs. Not safe and it will ruin your good mood
I traveled alone for the hole trip on a few occasions people flew out to tag along for a few days but other than that your never truly alone depending on how outgoing you are, I made new friends everywhere i went it was amazing there were only 2 days on my trip i was truly lonely. when i was in the wilderness and i was camping alone in the rain for a few days and the rain just wouldn't let up it was gloomy and melancholy with no sight of people other than that i gotta honestly say i wasn't lonely (:
you can pick one up from a dealership or craigslist, insurance is as easy as making a call to progressive or allstate exct! depending on how long you travel for it shouldn't be too bad just know the state you buy your car in may have sales tax (ny is around 9% ) buttoner states don't have sales tax! so you might be better off seeing which state has the lowest state tax or a less populated state that way when you purchase insurance it will be cheeper than if you got insurance in NY I'm not fully aware of any of the policies just something to think about - Mike
You said that yellow thing was the most important thing to have but what is it ???? and what do you do with it? details please, don't assume I know anything about cars! Yes, I've always relied on AAA
hahaha sorry!! its an emergency tow cable!! anyone with a jeep or truck or even a car can drag you out of a sticky situation (if you get stuck or bottom out exct) hope that helped (:
most days only consisted of driving from camp and in the national parks but traveling from national park to national park averaged somewhere around 100 miles a day ish. 500 day roadtrip 57,000 miles but keep in mind i went cross country a total of 4 times in those 500 days lol because of winter and going north to south exct the most i drove in one day was something like 350 miles in texas bc that state is absolutely massive i hope that helped!
I met a guy who hitchhiked around America for 6 months and he loved it! ironically if you hitchhike into national parks its free lol and more often than not people offered him places to stay or food and when that wasn't an option he would just camp!
You need to realize caffeine is an addiction. That's disgusting and I do some low down shit... brewing coffee on the ground next to men urinating, jeez
Can you change the title to "How to travel cheap IF YOU HAVE A CAR"? thx. Also, Carlsbad caverns is in new mexico, not texas. Hows it your favorite caves but you dont know where it is lol. Is this fake? Did you actually go to these places? Thumbs down.
Hey if you have Instagram I'd like to ask you a few questions I'm 19 and I'd like to take a long road trip and be a nomad I just can't find anything on how to start.

Serenity Craft how much did the butane stove cost?

Carlsbad caverns is in New Mexico**
Invest in a camp stove, the BRS one on Amazon is only $15 ish and with a fuel can you’re set with water. You can make it in your car if you want

I traveled across America by train and it was super expensive. I think on my next big trip I will try this for sure.
Awesome video Mike and so glad to meet you out there in the Badlands !!

@@DreamingOfReality Will do!! VLogs coming soon ;)
Got back from doing this recently. Traveled for four months out of my small suv.
I stayed at many rest areas and from what i seen most of them have police that stay around the area and are pretty safe most the time.
planet fitness membership is dirt cheap and I think they have showers. year pass and the natty park pass would be around 200 for a year. not horrible
That jersey reminded me of how much i miss reffing paintball.... good video
It represents the end of a era..
This is just flat out awesome
amazing, I am coming for traveling in USA
This is FREAKING awesome! Getting ready to quit my job and GO. A few more weeks. :)

Awesome tips! Keep on traveling!
Thank you for this genuine, insightful video.
Thanks for your video. Hopefully will be helpful when I’m off probation
Lol nice planet eclipse ref jersey. Been playing for 15 years and counting
Always a good idea to call walmart ahead… I didn’t call once 😂😂😂😂😂
Awesome video. Super helpful and informative. I wanna hear some stories
you got it!
Try Woodburn Oregon, you wanna see a dump of a Walmart. It's become a homeless neighborhood with broken down cars and a camp sight.
And it does not have to be this tough, travel in spurts with money and a good vehicle.
Clint Clore boring.
Great tips, thank you!
thanks for the support!
Totally awesome man, I love it! Keep making these! :)
6:54 it was at that moment i noticed, that this isnt the way to drive through the states XD
Carlsbad Caverns.... Carlsbad New Mexico, not Texas. Texas has enough grate things let New Mexico have ours!😂 but other then that this video got me pumped to start Adventuring and exploring! So excited with these tips!
