I just bought a FD project car that's going to need a lot of work so all these videos are of great help to me. Thanks for your efforts. And no, you're not being to obsessive taking everything apart and cleaning and fixing it all. That's how I approach things too. I'd suggest putting some grease on those bare metal spring clips that hold the plastic panels in place. The bare metal rusts, seizes in place and in combination of the brittle plastic is most of the reason all the tabs are broken.
I 100% understand your pain. I did all of this to my dash, and even switched the dash itself to one with a better finish. Then did the same to strip and rewrap the harness and paint that god awful reinforcement bar. so many pieces of plastic broke. But it was worth it. You're doing great mate!
@@IconGarage its great that you at least have the facility to do so. But I agree, I dont ever want to take that apart again Lol. I am always looking to see if any interior trim has been fabricated in different more sturdy and quality materials
Good job, well done. All that complexity makes you realise the amount of design work that takes place before translating that into die design for the plastic parts. I'd bet that a few parts don't work the first time and have to be reworked too. Mind-boggling.
The FD3S for some reason always seemed to hold moisture and mould even with liberal use of the outside venting prior to shutting off A/C. In Japan I would take advantage of the dealer A/C core/blower box de-moulding service after winter. So with this degree of effort the A/C will be very fresh. Respect
A jigsaw puzzle I'm very familiar with. I'm the original owner of an 88 RX7 and have done everything you did and more. It's a very tricky and delicate job especially when dealing with the plastics. Keep up the good work.
Man, all that hard work behind the dash and no one will ever see it IRL... Shame! haha! Great Work!! I'm about to start taking my dash our in my FD. Your videos are great. Very detailed.
You have put one hell of a lot of work in this dash and it shows! Amazing detailing work. You can be proud. Have a great weekend and a happy 4th of July. Same to all the Americans in the forum. ...(^___^)//
This is the attention to detail a car like this needed. Thank goodness she’s in your hands now.
This is a very lucky RX7, it gets so much love..good job mate..👍👌👍👌

When you rewrap the wiring harness make sure to use the felted tesa tape, it will stop the rattles!
I think it was Tesa 51608 I used.

Thanks! I don’t think I will be taking that apart any time soon. I got lucky and didn’t break too much, but it is very easily done.

Why not plastic weld it?
That would be the better way. I didn’t have the stuff needed to do that on hand when I was doing this. I plan to pick that up soon.
