      I learned wing chung. Its a nice way of formal fighting. In that dojo my sifu was sharing his dojo with taekwondo students. Before the wing chung student could set up the taekwondo students kicked them exactly what I just saw on this video. And as far as the yelling, I think hes trying to give people power points. I wonder if they teach caning?

      I agree that its important with personal space, becouse its impossible to react if somebody are very close, at best it will be a lottery who beats who. But on the other hand I fins it difficuilt to explain to the police that I attacked him first becouse he was invafing my personal space and that is very dangerous to me. The judge... would not accept my explanation, becouse he want proof that it was self defence... so if he did not had a weapon - a knife in his hand and my nose was not broken or I did not get a blue eye then he would not accept that it was self defence. Police and judge needs to see my face being damaged or that a camera filmed him throw the first blow... then I can act. They dont know how self defence works specially against stronger opponent. If there was a woman or a 15 years old boy then I can take risk of beeing hit first but not against a strong dude that can hurt me real bad.

    This is what my father called the “old man kick” and there are obviously countless variations, but it has proven effective more than once in my lifetime and I am glad I paid attention to dad when he was sharing his wisdom and experience. When timed correctly, delivered with intent and impacts the target of choice, it does indeed open up your opponent/assailant to almost anything your imagination can conjure. It can also be an amazing Kuzushi tool for all you Judokas out there who aren’t familiar with it yet. Anyone who trains knows exactly how important balance, posture, mobility, etc. are and that all of these begin at your foundation (I.e. where your feet touch the floor), so it’s a no brainer that if you can disrupt your opponent’s foundation, you can deprive them of these crucial attributes, if even for a fraction of a second. Good video and even better advice! Listen to this man, he knows what he’s talking about.

      Kick in the shin is hellish painful, that maybe the end of it right there. Especially if you wearing al school classic shoes with leather soles, and kick with the rib of the sole. In addition with those shoes you can kick with your toe or heel and that is almost like hammer.

    Nice advice. Case in point. Years ago when I was a kid, there was a guy in school who had a reputation as a good street fighter. Once I asked him what he did, and he showed me. Kick the leg first then follow with punches. Sometime after, a guy came at me all mad. I kicked him on the shin like in this video. The kid dropped to the ground as if I’d hit him on the head. So, positive proof.

    I'm an English gent of 70 years old and this is great advice. I wear steel capped Brogue shoes. They are a dress shoe that you might wear with a suit but you can get them with steel toe caps and are worn by managers in the construction industry and the such like. Because they are for industry they have really good grippy soles. And as you say a good kick in the shin with a steel capped toe or even the pelvis area keeps people out of attack range. As a carpenter I used to have a sharp pencil behind my ear at all times. If someone was to get out of his pram as we say, it can be used with devastating effect. And in England we are not allowed to carry anything which may be considered a weapon.

    I used that shin kick all the time in the dojo in kumite.Most of us who had any sense wore shin protectors. Even being kicked by the other guy with bare feet on shin protectors ,my shins were bruised heavily.
    I used to kick my opponent in the shins and follow up with either a back fist strike ( uraken ).or a straight punch to the face or chest ) obviously i pulled the punch or back fist .
    But not on the street.Its a fast unexpected attack as most guys standing arguing with uou wont expect a hard kick in the shins .i used mostly my outside edge of foot .Great demo .

    I agree with understanding the situation & acting in self defense. However, if he is walking towards you aggressively, with intent to harm, and you strike him first with any part of your body, a District Attorney may file against you so now you are defending against a criminal charge.
    And are their witnesses which is another factor. Are they friends of the attacker?
    Consider the legal aspects of you action.

      You have no idea what you are talking about. Reasonable belief of imminent harm is the standard, and a low kick is non-lethal force. A "Charge" means nothing. A charge WILL come if you're been in a self-defense situation. This legal shit is what makes people hesitate and get killed, as almost happened to me. Shove that crap back up your ass.

    • @Mr.Cockney
      @Mr.Cockney 4 месяца назад +1

      You are right. In my country, Spain, happens the same. When an attacker goes for you, you get charged with the burden to discern in a fraction of a second whether are you going to be hit or not (impossible task in that moment, but the judge and the jury will have days to demonstrate that you had to be still). Let them do their job, yours is to remain unharmed: avoid the confrontation if you can but hit first if the foe charges you.

    • @ilovemyevo556
      @ilovemyevo556 2 месяца назад

      An excellent point.. always always always avoid the fight until you can't. If you haven't read the art of war you should. You should take steps away and control the distance. Keep them out of range as much as possible. It's better to pretend to be a little bitch and go on about your day after that encounter, than it is to hurt the guy as much as satisfies your anger.. until you catch a charge. How much is that lawyer going to cost? How much of your freedom will be in jail when you could be doing much more satisfying things.. How much more fightng and more charges will you catch in jail with the other morons? That's not to say don't train to fight.. and not to fight when you absolutely have to.. Also the more you run the more your adversary will think you are weak.. it might embolden him but again keep distant.. but it's a tactical advantage when he thinks you are weak but you're really strong (in fighting not strength) and you flip the script on him. So yes walk away as much as you can.. run if you have to. It presents a much better self defense story that you retreated until cornered and THEN struct first. in some places it is a legal requirement to retreat first before using deadly force.. and before any encounter, you don't know, it might end up looking like deadly force. The guy could fall and hit his head on something sold. The guy could be moments short of falling dead from drug overdose like George Floyd. The guy might have an aneurism or heart attack etc.. but since you just struck him, to idiots, it looks like you're the bad guy who killed him. Any street fight , lose or win, has the potential to ruin your life. After you hurt someone defending yourself I advise you to leave and be gone ASAP. You dont' know if that idiot will die 3 days later from his aneurysm and they try ti put i on you. It's better that the gov't doesn't have your information. Maybe you'll get lucky and that fool will leave too, and there will be no one around for the police to take a report from. Then if he croaks 3 days later its just "all we know is he had a fight 3 days ago". Let the witness statements be "He chased this guy down, the guy struck hm, he fell, the guy left" vs "thats' the guy! over there in the green shirt. He his this man that you see laying on the ground. he threw the first kick".. You have to consider the long term risks as well as the short term risks, over your desire to give someone the beating they deserve to satisfy your feelings of anger. YOU avoid THIS fight.. and let this idiot encounter another idiot and let them ruin both of their lives. Daniel Penny shouldn't be in jail but this is the world we live in now. He disabled a threatening crazy person who ended up dying. Now he's on trial for murder. Even if he gets found not guilty which i really hope so, the hassles and costs leading up to the trial.. was it worth it? No not unless the dead guy was in progress of violence. I'll say a prayer for him. Don't let that be you.

    Your personal space theory is correct. But the kick is starting the fight. So, you might as well try and end it as fast and as safe as possible if verbal de-escalation doesnt work. Usually thats a punch or elbow that are most direct.

"Do you not see with your own eyes" ? "Are you not seeing what's going on" ? "Do you not believe what you are seeing" / Wow, no one ever speaks of these things. I't always in terms of when an aggressor is already in your face. I believe for many of us it's not wanting to believe we are faced with a confrontation. Why ? Because normal people do not want to bother others and we sure don't want to be threatened. But evil knows those who mind their own business and thinks they are easy prey.

    I miss used a low-kick; the result still worked for me; I fired too soon, forced me to hit him in the hip. Force spun the attacker. He still landed a grazing blow, resulting in a black eye. But I was able to get him in a hold. We ended up under a stair case. Broke my fifth metacarple because of the hammer fist I used on him.

    Kick in the shin may be the end of it right there. Especially if you wearing al school classic shoes with leather soles, and kick with the rib of the sole. In addition with those shoes you can kick with your toe or heel and that is almost like hammer.

    Low strikes are so under utilized. I noticed I quickly resort to a punch aimed up high in my own efforts to protect myself and fend off an attacker.

    Sifu told me to use my foot lift it half circular side way to contact with a low kick. It will cause the attacker to stumble out of balance. It works .
