Great! This by far is on my list for Best three-legged Stool demonstration - because; I needed the stretcher advice. the turning observation - especially appealing was the open ended wrench assist in measuring. I'm working with a cut-slice of New Mexico Cedar; so my fairly rounded 10" diameter is already achieved. Trouble: I don't have a wood lathe and will continue the effort to utilize 1" square each edge Oak. Overall - best help online thus far. thanks a million! Gregory
Hi, I had a question regarding the stretchers. Are the stretchers always necessary or is this just due to the angle that the legs are splayed and the fact that they are quite tall? Is there a way to get around the stretchers. I prefer the look of the limbs on there own without cross bracing. I have seen a number of stools which don't need the cross bracing but they are always shorter.
clever man. you make me want to learn lathe skills. but yeah like that other guy said, the imperial system is sooooo outdated. i think america is like the only country in the world that still uses it, an even in america all the sciences and aero space industries use metric. its better. not that thats your problem good video.
metric is better in some senses but for stuff like this it is handier with dividing into third, fourths, fifths and so on because of the decimals most rulers wont have plus it is easier to envision as most units are named after body parts and things
@tubestick00 Guess we will stick with a system that as served us well. No sense in changing just to make a few people quit crying about us not conforming. LOL
@tubestick00 We use metric measurments when it suits us. Just because we do nott choose to use them all the time does not mean we are ignorant of that system. Go educate someone else . We do not need it nor want it.
@stinkingdog101 nobody is crying buddy. people only bring it up because its a situation where from a metric countries perspective it seems sooo ridiculous to use imperial measurements. we are trying to educate ignorant people who dont know anything else. we are not crying.
@tubestick00 Apparantly you do not know America at all. We were taught the metric system starting in Grade Scool. Every vehicle not manufactered in America has metric bolts and nuts on it. Even some that are manufactered here do. To say something as arrogant as that is not being truthful to yourself. Please keep your comments to your own country as I am sure you are aware of the happenings there. Apparantly you only think you know what goes on here.
@stinkingdog101 thats untrue. some people in scientific fields or advanced mechanical fields use both or just metric, but most people in america are not aware of metric systems at all. try to be true stinkdog. never bend truth.
@stinkingdog101 i certainly do know what goes on in america. alot of homosexual activity. most americans arent familiar with metric. period. you know it

Beautiful stool, what size wood did you use for the legs and stretcher?
