Restoring the Coonamessett River: Results of Phase 1

  • The Town of Falmouth, MA is restoring the Coonamessett River. Hundreds of years of industrialization for mills and cranberry farming severely impacted the wetland habitat and the historic herring run. Restoring the river to a more natural state has already had a huge positive impact.

      All creeks are rivers. Not all rivers are creeks.

      @@martymelchior620 I think you missed his point, it used to be a river of considerably more width and depth judging by the sides where the trees are, and it doesn't seem likely that this creek would have been much use for what it had been when it was exploited for fish.

    Just curious, why is this called a river? It doesn't look like much more than a small stream.
