A few weeks ago I bought a 'refurbished' Longer Ray5 20W directly from Longer for an incredible $260. I swear the one I received is brand new-- it has the latest firmware, limit switches, emergency stop button, and there wasn't a scratch on any of the parts I received. It works flawlessly and I've already added air assist, a honeycomb bed, rotary attachment, and an overhead fume extraction system. About to add the LightBurn camera, too. This is my first experience with a laser and although I bought it for engraving my logo on my wood art products, I can see that it is capable of so much more. Thanks for the info and honest review!

Roger, I'm very happy with my Longer Ray5 with 10 watt laser. I bought it after watching your review video's. Thanks for all the longer projects.

This is great to know about this laser, as I still have not taken mine out of the box - soon. I will be excited to see the one that you do using a roller! Thanks again for sharing your information.

Your videos have helped me so much figuring this machine out! Thank you! How often do you clean your laser head?

Since I keep air assist on 99% of the time, the lens hardly ever gets dirty. I do check it from time to time, but no set schedule.

You have the cutting down with the laser. Nice choice

Yes. Not designed for this laser, but with a minor mod, fit just fine.

Debating between yours and the Sculpfun, and Atomstack.
    Any experience w others?

I have 12 lasers, total. Three of them are various models of Atomstack. They perform well, with no problems, but I tend to use the Longer for all kinds of projects where each of the Atomstack are relegated to specific projects.

My laser Diode just stopped working today. Any suggestions? It goes through the motions but no Laser.

Check the cable connections, especially at the laser head end. I've had these work loose before.

Thanks Roger. Do you have links for where you buy your 3mm blanks from?

    • @rogersshop
      @rogersshop  2 года назад +3

Dollar Tree. Look in the craft aisle or in the seasonal aisle. I often buy the premade shapes and then just cut them up with the laser. Cheaper than buying online or in hobby stores or home centers.

@@Joshuaellis420 Is this happening on the X or Y travel? Might be a bad bearing in a roller, causing it to skip or jump. Had this on a Two Trees laser and had to replace 6 of the 9 rollers....................On a brand new laser!

@@rogersshop this is on the x motor on top of laser it has now stopped working I can get it moving back and forth then when I put a load it stops. How do you replace them I have a motor on a rotary unit I could rob but when I tried the Allen wrench on the back it was to tight I thought it may strip

@@Joshuaellis420 These NEMA 17 stepper motors are pretty universal. Here is an example one: amzn.to/3GIMEDR Four screws to mount and one or two set screws on the pulley.

Suggestion the short intro clip you play after you make your opening statement is annoying, it waste time and serves no purpose no one wants to watch it.I do enjoy your honest opinions on the Longer Ray laser. I just ordered the Longer ray 10 watt with the air assist last night and I will say partially because of your endorsement of this laser.😁🛫

Then skip it. All part of the algorithm RUclips uses to place videos. this is why so many channels have it.
