To me it sounds just like the exact line, 'Shake it up baby' from The Beatles' 'Twist and Shout', down to the vocal delivery. Almost an exact replication. Sounds good & nice reference.
Man, I felt like I was torn between two time periods on this album, you got that new frank ocean-esque sound meshed with sounds akin The Police, Prince, MJ, Fleetwood Mac, etc all over this album. This is genuinely a masterpiece of an album, and not just saying that out of bias, yall have managed to crack that code of colliding two worlds without bending too far to either side, something even mainstream artists going for that old style with the new never really achieve in its full extent. It’s not just a crime how underrated this and the rest of your discography is, it’s a damn act of terrorism at this point because once again, PURE FUCKIN GENIUS.
Yes he totally wears his inspirations on his sleeve. It's almost like an easter egg hunt from track to track. You hear the modern r&b, then you hear the 70s-80s synths that are reminiscent of tht bands that you mentioned, along with a few more to my ear. (toto, peter gabriel, phil collins, tears for fears, Bjork, ect.)
I immediately thought of Prince's 'Computer Blue', but I can hear the Police & even some Fleetwood Mac, as well. I see others talking about Michael Jackson but I'm not getting that so much, but I love that he's referencing a lot of iconic artists.
This track feels like it's pure unfiltered passion and energy all over the place and really well worked sound design. It's energetic and RAW. There are notes of experimental mixing and 80s treatment along with nostalgic vocal effect and burts of energy in music and screaming. It's dreamy and also futuristic yet nostalgic if this makes any sense. Similar tracks recommendation - Artist - Swansea Skag 1. Maybe I won't get high 2. Nostalgia 3. All in 4. Dog boy
THE MELODIES THE DYNAMICS THE GUITAR WORK THE BACKGROUND SOUNDS WHY IS IT SO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. seriously this is amazing music. unique production. it's like you know this type of music but can't pinpoint who else sounds like this. truly amazing
Yes, I just said the same thing!! Definitely 'Computer Blue' came to mind immediately, but some other stuff, too. Not a bad thing to reference Prince, intentional or not.
Verse 1] I believe I can't let go Just when you think you can cut everybody you know Rylee, it's just Rylee and I Woah [Verse 2] So when you shake it up, baby You give me mine Yes, I was there when you said you saw an angel, divine Just Rylee, Rylee and I [Chorus] No more IV I feel, I feel alive No more ivy 'Cause Rylee, you called it 'Cause you called it Baby, you called it (Woah) [Verse 3] So when you shake it up, baby You gotta know Just when you think you can cut everybody you know Rylee, it's just Rylee and I (Huh) [Verse 4] So when you shake it up, baby You give me mine Yes, I was there when you said you saw an angel, divine It's just Rylee, Rylee and I (Huh)

Jesus, man. Insane.
That distorted line gives the track so much meat, the whole track feels like it's sweating profusely.
Wow.
All love.

Michael Jackson vocal line "So when you shake it up, baby"
To me it sounds just like the exact line, 'Shake it up baby' from The Beatles' 'Twist and Shout', down to the vocal delivery. Almost an exact replication. Sounds good & nice reference.
Whew u not wrong
Btw Twist n Shout is not a Beatles song 🫡
God this album is like if Phil Collins, Tom Petty, and Jai Paul had a baby together. The production is unreal.
Plus a good heap of D’Angelo

Plucked these sound waves straight outta the cosmos.
It defies all logic but the barks are somehow the best part of the song
Prince would be proud

i can't be the only one who thinks the loop sounds like a jungle right? sounds very tribal and like he took a sample of some jungle sounds and did some crazy shit to it
🌊🏄🏾🌊
I hear references or similarities to Prince's 'Computer Blue' in some of these sounds. Very interesting.
Anybody else feel like they have heard this before? Like you know you haven't but damn it feels real
Such a good album!! This song is sung by ERIC CARTMAN 😂
1:13 is just fire
Tom Waits x Phil Collins x Jpegmafia type beat

This song is so dreamy.🌫 Wonder if there was any inspo from Jai Paul. you can really hear his sound in the melody. 👏👏
