Timepiece: The Poetry of Independent Watchmaking with Philippe Dufour and Vianney Halter

- In 2006, an English watch collecting friend asked me to introduce his daughter, Kat Mansoor, to the world of independent watchmakers. After a few days of visit and interviews in Switzerland, Kat, Will Hood and Adam Lavis, the co-founders of a small film production company called Animal Monday, decided to write a scenario for a documentary featuring Philippe Dufour and Vianney Halter, and submit it in an annual competition run by the British Film Council. They won and the prize was funding to produce the documentary.
Five days of filming in the Jura in Switzerland was meticulously edited down to 10 minutes and became "Timepiece". This is not just a superb documentary about a couple of talented independent watchmakers, it is a superb documentary period!

03:00 NO, i have a seiko made quartz watch from 1970s and it still works .
These guys don't make watches for mass market, they don't make watches that will sell (although there are no lack of folks to line up a buy their creations), they make watches that are poetry from the heart pure creativity balanced and perfect. Vianney makes some watches that are neither from the present but could be very old or futuristic and just fantastic. Ah if I could only afford one from each.
