The tires are great man idk what you're talking about lol I run them on my supercharged G and they hook great maybe its because the Chargers are fat as fuck
When doing speed tests, try this if you haven't yet: Start off in manual and in 2nd gear. As soon as you launch and get some revs, slam the shifter back into auto. Motortrend says that's how they were able to get the fastest times on the Hellcat. Let me know if it works for you!
they're not straight line tires. they're track tires. you want straight line? buy drag tires. this is a no brainer.
Track tires? LOL no...
Um they are not track tires lol
@@F1FIDY I would agree that they aren't a "track tire", but they are indeed UHP summer street tires designed with cornering stability, traction, and handling in mind. Just looking at them you can tell they aren't going to be wonderful drag radials, but they are sexy ass wheels, if you're into that sorta thing 😉
DeathNRebirth they are for front runners not the rear, NT05r , nt555r or nt555rii go in the rear.
DeathNRebirth they are also not drag radial
Bro, no street tire will allow you to "floor it" in a 500hp car & not spin. It's summer time just order a set of 20 inch DR's like the nitto NT555R, or the Great Mickey Thompson ET street S/S 305/35/20. Then switch back to stock tire during late fall, & winter..or give those Atturo's a try. They're cheap. Might as well try em
I floor my superbee of the line with m/t e/t streets 275/35r20 zero spin even on the street.
+NOISE BOMB Brap off*
+NOISE BOMB Brap, yup. Those are DR's..I said "no street tire"
That's the entire point of drag radials. Street tires are never gonna hook like that in a high power car.
Yep, NT555R should be good for anything up to about 450 rwhp to be able to hook up in first and second gear. Beyond that you'll want the NT05R.
I just got the Nitto NT555 G2 for my ‘18 Charger Scatpack. 275s’ on all fours. When I ran at the track with the stock 245s’, I had 20 PSI in the rear tires and warmed them up a little. I was launching at 1,400 RPMs’. My best 0-60 time was 4.8 seconds. On the Nittos’, I ran the same PSI (20), and warmed em up a little. Launching at 1,400 RPMs’. My best 0-60 time is 4.1 seconds. I haven’t tested em out on the street, but I’m pretty sure I could get the same 0-60 times.
They're not drag radials, test them on a road course.
I have to jump on the bandwagon here and say your expectations / test method aren't that reasonable. It definitely sounds reasonable test street tires on the street but unless you've warmed up the tires with a little burnout or you have a great surface to launch from, street tires will spin from a launch on a car with that much power. I run 275 nitto invos (pretty comparable to the g2 in price and compound) on my 5.slow which is less power and less weight than your 392, still easy to spin from a dig. I've accepted that if I want to launch hard from a dig I'll have to shell out the money for taller and wider drag radials. (btw in straight line tire height and pressure have more influence than width)
Amen, I run 3.6 in a 0-60 consistently on great pavement with cold engine, low weight, launch button engaged, and driving using sense. I’m running all stock other than the rear tires: Mickey Thompson 275/40/20 drag radial
Ever wonder why there is a "water box" at the drag strip? To get the best traction you have to warm up tires before using them for performance. Even in track usage no driver with an ounce of sense would go out and run hard on cold tires. Warm them up and they will hook. I have them on my 5.0 Mustang with a few mods to get 420HP to the wheels.
Interesting. I did 4.6 on stock Pirelli all-seasons in my 392 Daytona.
This makes me feel better. I did 4.5 on almost bald goodyear eagle sports lol.
I tried Nitto 555s on my 650 HP F-Type, they were a bit worse than the stock PZeros. Michelin 4Ss gave a very small improvement, but only with 10-25% throttle launches. Going to try Toyo R888Rs next. Need something safe and street legal.
How were those toyos?
How did the Toyos do for you?
I have the regular Nitto 555 on a 450 rwhp '03 Mach 1 Mustang. They're fucking garbage, can't hook until third gear. Sometimes they'll grab in second if they're warm. Car is now in the shop getting some pulley swaps and a new tune, will be getting it back with ~600 rwhp. Yeah, gonna need some drag radials. I'm thinking NT05R. This thing should be pulling on the Hellcats, 1000 pounds lighter lol.
kingcrimson234
i keep trying to tell these folks Nitto just have a reputation...theyre tires anit SHIT!
20" wheels + 35 series tires = limited traction........... I'd be curious to see if the 0-60 times improved after a burnout or two to heat up the tires.
I absolutely love my Nitto NT555R's obviously not the same tire, but they have dramatically improved my 60'. However they are sticky and get really sticky when hot. If the track is hot or I make a run to close back to back I almost bog down off the line and I actually run a few 10th's slower. I've played lots of games with a possible "street" tire, but these give me the best bang for the buck. Less sticky tires spin more and wear out just about as fast in my experience. Handling is compromised. But I rarely do canyon runs anyway.
The perfect person to ask. Thanks for sharing. My tire shop suggested the G2s over the 555R because he says they are good for about 3 years before the rubber starts to get hard. How long did you keep yours? I have
BF Goodrich g-Force KD 315/35/17 on the back of my 70 RS Camaro that were put on in 2001 when the car was built so I definitely got some crazy years out of mine. It takes a lot to tame 585 HP
You may not notice it when driving in a straight line, but when your cornering the car, that's when you will definetly notice it!
If you have a scat pack charger say to yourself “why am I racing a family sedan?”
Uhhh he wasn’t racing anyone
CBKC31 he’s talking about time improvements and road course racing and radials to do “race car things” for improved times. Wider tires only cover half of what’s important. Compound and stickiness comes next and is more important. The G2s are trash and are only worth using for front tires with radials on the rear like the 555R’s or R2’s.
Your a GOON.. NITTO Tire’s are awesome run them on my Audi A6 ,love how sticky they are!
ran my 05 stage 3 Roush on nt555 for 8 years. It's not the straight line that was important, even though i was running low 4s with them. I loved the handling, especially running 40 psi tire pressure.
run pilot super sport and u will see results. all the big boys with hellcats/scat packs/392's run em and see increase in performance
yea. pilot supersports are amazing!
kinda surprised why he didnt go with those in the first place, i guess theyre pricey
+Imad S they are expensive but not that much for than he paid
I had PSS on my old '99 Mustang GT with bolt-ons. They were awesome! Can't speak for how they'll do on a higher HP car though, that one was only about 300 at the crank. I could give it 3/4 throttle even in the rain in second gear or higher and they would still hook!
J
I have a C63 with 481Hp at the crank ~ 430 whp I switched my tires to Michelin Pilot Super Sports and immediately noticed the difference.
Well a large issue is the tire is oversized for your rim which is bad for traction. And if you expect to cut off half a second on a zero to 60 with nothing but tires which are fairly inexpensive as far as tires go. Then you need a reality check.
this review is waste of time
Getting street tires to launch a high power car from a dig is pointless, you need drag radials if you really want the car to hook. I think your traction issue is also at least partly due to wheel hop from the IRS, that's what I've found from driving my dad's Challenger. I'd recommend you look for some sort of suspension upgraded to help keep the rear tires down or just get drag radials in a wider size like a 305.
I have them on my 2019 Camaro 2SS. It’s 245/35R20 and then 275/45R20. I live in south Texas where it’s always Hot and Dry. For the the Nitto 555 G2 are good. Not great, but gets the work done. Although when it comes to straight light performance. They suck. Cornering on back roads, they’re actually good. I guess I heard to much hype about them. When I got them, it didn’t quite satisfied me. I had them for like 5 months already. Before these I had the GoodYear EagleF1 Asymmetric 3. I think they’re better than the Nitto’s, but by a slight difference. I will give the Nitto’s 7.5/10. The Asymmetric 3 a 7.7/10. My next target is the GoodYear EagleF1 SuperCar 3.
My 2014 AWD Charger R/T, with stock size 235/55R19 tires and TranZformer shift kit, will pull .84G on a hard launch in AWD. When the time comes to replace tires, I'm going to try Michelin's Pilot Super Sports, as highly recommended by Matt Farrah (TheSmokingTire).
Hey Riley go with a drag radial and get 285/45/20 they fit on those wheels . I got a scatpack to and I promise you will hook!
Your ability to modulate the throttle can be the difference in "Tenths" of a second one way or the other.
What tire pressure are you running? Drop the pressure down to 22psi and do a pull to see if it’s any better
I’m about to buy me a full set of 225/35zr20 nitto 555 g2 on my modded Lincoln MKZ AWD and I’m sure I’ll be happy. Right now I have a set of Toyo Proxy 4+ HP I live in a warmer weather climate and have a set of 17” winter tires that I switch out anyways I’m sure I’ll be happy with the Nitto’s a bit pricey but I’m sure it’s worth it 😎
Running 275/40/20 Nitto Motivo's all around on a '15 SRT 392. Best time 5.0. I'm getting lots of wheel spin. Maybe I need to roll into it more. Haven't tried launch control yet but practice makes perfect.
Toyo R888 man! My 392 Challenger hooks up super good now. They only cost $450 each, A little road noise but it is totally worth it.
on my 15 gt stang I have in the rear nitto 285/30/20 i must admit I have had success with them , I have a hard time burning out on take off due to grip , I'm running stock so the power maybe a perfect match for the tires.
Have got an 06 srt8 Charger and I have these 245/45/20 G2s only on the front. They do help steering grip and handling up front. I’m running the 555Rs 275/40/20 in the rear for traction.
I wouldn't expect a night and day difference in 0-60 by switching from a performance all-season to ultra high performance summer tire. Go with a drag radial if you want 0-60. I went from Goodyear Eagle RS-As to Pirelli P Zeros (summer tire) on my Challenger and my 1/4 mile times did not change. The P Zeros are sure a lot better for autocross and putting the power down coming out of turns though.
You are one of my favorite channels and have got me thinking about getting my own scat.
Keep up the good work man.
245s are pizza cutters. My 02 ws6 TransAm came stock with 275/35r17 on all four corners. I had 275 nt555r extreme drags on the rear and they were great for a daily tire. My car dynoed 400rwhp and 420ftlbs at the time. Those nittos were really good in the rain also. I was amazed at how much wet traction they had. obviously my MT ET streets in 275 are great for a dot tire. My 315 nt555 gen 2s are nothing to spin. They probably won't last long at all even if I try to keep my foot out of it. I don't know Wtf dodge is doing putting 245s on those cars unless they are trying to kill people. I would have gotten 315 nt555r extreme drags but they are the same with as my 275 MT ET streets. all of my tires have been on 17s. 9" wide factory rims for the 275s. then I went with 11" wide when I went to 315/40r17 on the rear and 9.5" for the front that are still 275s (17" zr1 replicas). Only thing I can say good about them is they ride good and my speedometer is dead nuts exact now. good luck getting a decent hook with a 275 anything unless you daily ET streets.
Not enough contact patch on 275 . I am going through the same thing with my Shaker scat. I just bought 10.5" rims for rear, 9" up front. This way I can get 315's in the rear. May I suggest this route for you.
They are meant for the corners brother. If you want strait line performance got for the nt05.
Curious to know what PSI you're running them at. Running a tire that is wider than your rim will cause a slight bulge in the center of the tire. It's also super important to make sure that your wheel's are aligned properly. Even something as small as changing the tire width will change the car's geometry. I just picked these tires up and my 0-60 is now sitting at 4 seconds flat when launching properly at 30 psi after my alignment.
Thank you for that info. Noted, I just bought them also.
I'd try the Motivo's or the Turbo or whatever they were called that people say are so good, just as an experiment.
But,I've heard good things about The Continental Extreme Contact DSW06 tires as well.
I hate to say i told you so. But being a tire technician i have driven in alot of cars with all different types of new tires. The nitto 420s should have been your option. I personally am on my second set of them on my SRT8. There is a reason why the SRT8 guys love them especially the grand cherokee srt8 crowd. They hook up well. I do agree the motivos are a good all around tire but not for launching with high hp. Do some research on the 420s and see what i am saying.
I have the continental extreme contact sport dw06 + best tires ever hook like a dream
How you liking the tires? I'm thinking those, the atturo az850, or michelins.
275 is not wide enough in the back with 430hp at the wheel. 305's are are the way to go. Nittos are ok in the dry. I don't trust them in the wet. Not crazy about them.
Another complaint I have is. When going into a corner it takes a half a second or so for the tires to settle. Softer sidewall compared to my Cooper RS3 S.
The Nitto 55 g2's are not a sticky compound. while they do have are great tire design for performance use there is much stickier tires than the g2's, like the stock tires design. lol maybe the stock Goodyear tires in the 275/40/20 size will be a little better.
I'm considering these tires for my Charger for daily use. My stock tires do not allow me to drive on the streets like a car like this should, the traction sucks. I almost have to pull out of drives and make right turns from a stop slower than most cars, because my stock tires lose traction so easily... Thoughts?
Get Michelin Pilot Super Sport next
Not being a nay sayer but those tires should net you better results than that just based on width alone let alone the softer compound. I don't know if you have a track close to you but get on the track and measure you 60ft time not 0 to 60 with on board computers. get some Suspension mods and you should hold your 430rwhp level no problem especially with your curb weight. Once you get the suspension setup you will be very hard pressed to get any spin unless you put a stall in the car. at that point just go with a drag radial. Love your videos man. keep it up.
I've gone down this path myself. It's hard to compare tires unless you do back to back on the same car as different cars hook better/worse than others. Never had the 555G2, but was very very disappointed with the NT05 (Not R) for straight line traction. Invo's were far better and actually quite good ironically.
I just ordered these on my stage II BMW M850i with about 750hp as recommended by my local discount tires shop. I went up from 245, 275 to 255, 285. They’re so inexpensive which is great bc I eat through tires. I’ll report back.
My stock tires are PZeros, what is it on the Scatpack?
You really got in your car, smacked the gas as hard as you could and thought a 1 inch difference in width from stock tires would make a significant difference. Then complained about wasting $400 dollars.
Lol I have these same exact tires on my scat shaker but 305 width. Still doesn’t change anything. They break easily. Haven’t tried them on lower psi around 30-32psi.
I told you before you got those Nittos that they was a waste of Money. I got the Hookup on Some Atturo's from my good Buddy on the Mopars United Facebook Page. Atturo's are Addicting Lol. Those, a Tune, and a CAI have a 392 Superbee Charger taking down C7 Stingrays, Z06's, 5.0's, and SS's. One Badass Superbee!
So, you also went with a harder tire with less than an inch extra width and expected something better?
Maybe you'll get a batter 0-60 time if you break stand first to get the tries sticky.
Compair the weight of the tires more rotation mass will slow u down
Bruh.....so many things to say here. If you are only interested in 0-60 then follow everyone’s advice and get drag tires and no offense but you have to learn how to drive for a 0-60. You didn’t launch with the button or going with dual feet and spinning isn’t winning you need to at least engage track traction control or better yet use sport, also the shifting should be in manual. Also how much weight was in your car such as gas etc, what was the intake temp, what was your tire pressure, what surface were you on, so many variables in a straight line result that I’m sure you aren’t keeping them all constant. Take my advice to heart and DM me if you want my help, I can run a 3.6 consistently on the street in my 2019 Charger Scatpack by maximizing all variables and I have the video to prove it.
Did you do a burnout first to warm them up? I found they hook better when hot
I have 295/40/20 Nexen Tires on the rear and have done a 4.0 0-60.. I'm not sure what you're doing wrong but with 275 nt555s you should be low 4s.
What tires should I get just got a scatpack and it’s spinning to much on take off
Smokinonhitler Ai I went with 315 AZ850s. I’ve heard good things and I watched a few reviews of people saying they are even better than the 555 G2s. The 850s are only $120 a tire, so I’m giving them a shot. Once I’m done doing everything to my car I’m going to start vloging and I’ll make sure I talk about the tires.
try looking at the BF Goodrich comp2 AS. I have seen a lot of good results with them
I put Nitto Motivo tires on my Charger R/T and they're horrible, I didn't get much traction at all even on dry roads
No throttle modulation and you spin with 500 horsepower? Wow who would have thought that would happen. You clearly should have bought drag radials. Know the difference, the 555 is a handling Tire. I've had the G1 on my 5.0 for a couple years and it's an incredible Tire. You just not using it right in your land yacht. You want an nt555r or an nt05 or a mickey Thompson street comp.
Also, you are comparing spring perferormance, to spring performance. Pretty much everyone knows the heat will slow the car down a little.
Just got all 4's of these exact tires for my car 🙂🙂🙂🙂The only reason I got them was b/c they were cheaper to get than the firestones that came with my car. Well at least they look good, lol
Riley- do you feel like they spin less? to be honest, your really not going be able to test the traction with out going to the track & testing your 60ft. even then, that's not %100 because there are other variables such as track conditions, prep, etc. I just got 275 pirelli p zero summer tires. I'll be doing a review on them at some point.
Sadly I feel they spin just as much as the stock tires. :\
Sucks to hear...
try the nitto nt05's. have them on my challenger 392. great hook, stability and cornering. dropped my 0-60 by almost .5 secs and can pull a .99 - 1.0g turn. which is great for a 4,300 lb pig lol.
James Brennan it dropped your 0 to 60 by 5 seconds? Christ I'm suprised it took longer than 5 seconds in the first place...
Hey love your videos! I have a question for you regarding tires...I have a 2015 Charger R/T RWD, I know you own a scat pack but I also know you had an RT at one point. I live in Florida which im sure you know is very hot and it rains a lot...any tires you would reccomend? Im not really racing my RT is my daily driver, however, performance is important to me too.
I had 245/45/20 Continental ExtremeContact DW tires on my 2014 R/T and I liked them a lot! Did well in the rain and offered good traction. I'd go with either those or the Atturo AZ850's.
thanks!
Not wide enough
My 0-60 in my tuned and modded 09 wrx with cooper zeon rs3-a is 3.15 you should do a video with the cooper zeon rs3-a
Lol I use 275s up front 😂
Nitto's like this in the front and drag radials in the back is what you were looking for. Research before you buy.
Notification Squad!! Keep up the good work!
Still praying for your girlfriend homie. Best of luck to y'all.
Michelin Pilot Super Sports. Simple choice. You pay the price for a reason. Tires are literally the only thing that touch your vehicle to the ground. 275's should be plenty for your scat pack, just need a stickier compound. Cant cheap out on tires.
Mickey Thompson Sport Comps would have been great too.
You need you some 295 Michelins or 305/315 MT ET
You should have probably did a little burn out to heat them up....
Hey Riley +RP Productions why haven't you looked at Michelin Pilot Super Sport .... i know there pricey that's what I'm getting for my 750Li give or take same power as your Charger... Heard they are amazing
Yeah they're just pretty pricey and don't last that long from what I hear. For the money I might as well just buy a set of radials + cheap set of wheels for a race setup.
+RP Productions yeah that's understandable... the scat pack is on another scale putting the power down then a Bmw 750Li... dont know how drag radials would look on Lux-Limo so to speak... thanks for the response.
He expected street tires to perform like drag radials lol.
Im looking at getting these just because they come in 315/35r20
If u can afford them, buy Michelin pilot super sports. Best performance tire made, with a 30k mile warranty
Try the Pirelli P Zero 275s... they come on the Hellcat... so why not? kind of makes sense to get those.
Hellcat can't hook
The hellcat spins like a merry go round.
+GKWunder like clock work
Hellcat is also way more power than this car... so..... why are you comparing it?
You’re not making any sense. It’s not a drag radial, so you shouldn’t expect a massive increase in performance. I don’t know why you’re so up in arms about the price. The Nitto 555 g2 is actually a relatively inexpensive tire. The fact that you spent $400 for a pair of tires is irrelevant as that is the low end of performance summer tires.
Drag slicks or buy an awd car if you want to put the power to the ground... simple.
3 weeks damn. I'll send you some from Va. We get rain every week. Rain is on it's way.
I have these tires on my 2015 5.7 rt and they suck, the front wears bad on the inside.when hot they stick good in curves. not good 0-60
you should of not went any wider than 265 on the stock wheels
My 0-60 is 4.5 in 5.7 RT at 28psi 305 35 20's
great tire review, I would agree with others on the Michelin Pilot Super Sports
Then put on a drag radial or bias ply...
I have no clue how the "500hp" Camaro hooked with motivo's because I have them on my 5.7L charger at 275/40/20 and they suck!! I can never put power to the ground.
Oh wow! Very interesting! His car is in the latest Galveston Car Cruise video, you can hear his cam at the end of the video. His car would easily put 4 cars on mine so I was surprised when he told me what tires he had.
I may or may not smoke them on the regular... Great video btw!! Keep up the good work!!
Damn. I was gonna get these tires. I even met the guy who designed them lol
I laterally watch all your videos I want some free Adam products 😩
The tires are awful!! They spin. I have a stock 1le with the 305's in the rear. They do nothing but spin in first gear after 4k. Probably the biggest disappointment in tires ! It doesn't matter what air pressure. And they aren't even a decent road coarse tire. They slip and slide everywhere!
if you expected traction then why did you buy a summer tire lol, thats what radial are for
I know this is old but your launches were terrible in this video... I loved my 555 G2s on my R/T, and now with the crappy P ZERO NERO's on my stock scat Im getting 4.3-4.4 secs, bout 85 degrees at sea level... with these tires and colder air Im feeling a 4.0 or possible 3.9.
there are so many more factors at play here. using your 0-60 time on public roads as a comparison factor is pretty much useless.
I' m looking for information like how are these tires in the rain.
We're your stock tires the Pirelli All Season?
why u don't think in michelin or pirelli
7:03 when sells man try to sell me a charger v6 instead of the scatpack....I guess 700 on equifax is not enought😨
Are you going to cars and coffee august 6th @ memorial city mall?
Yep!
***** maybe I'll see you there 😉
