BOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!! Brian fantastic job!!!! Earl Nightingale is one of my all time favorites!!!!!! From Lead the Field to the Strangest Secret are powerful stuff. And you do yourself a disservice if you don't listen to his audios. Top echelon Toastmaster, his voice is a symphony as weaves stories and analogies that are magical!!!!! Brian you are on fire brother!!!! Thank you man!!!
Anthony Smith Amen, Anthony!! This morning I did "Lead the Field" (top secret draft of PDF here: cl.ly/1E1V3P3J303D + TV coming soon) and The Essence of Success is on tap for this week. And so true re: his voice. I've only listened to The Strangest Secret but holy wow. :) High fives, brother!!
Thank you for this video! Guru Johnson, you are awesome! The ship analogy and checklist are profound! I have listened to the audio version, more than once.
i like having a checklist and thinking about my masterpiece day and accepting that you don't always hit it but that we move closer to it day by day...thanks brain....another great video
Great breakdown of this classic video...I discovered Earl nightingale 's strangest secret while back when I was down and almost out and now I control every aspect of my life...I became what I thought about...you will have to be mentally strong for these things to work..you will have to be ready to learn..forget everything you've ever watched. This is all you will need for success.
My favorite thing today is this new idea about success. It land inside of me sooooo beautifully! It makes sense to me, but the most important thing for me is the inside relief and peace it brings. Beautiful idea!
thanks for sharing brian , another important and vital point that earl was trying to deliver in the strangest secret is the law of "cause and effect" give to get ,like you have to provide service of value to others to take what you want and to make this secret work. thx again.
Thank you so much for these insightful videos. I have made a habit of watching your videos everyday. Very helpful for personal development. Amazing stuff...
I really connected to that one Brian, I've listened to the audio of this, but you nailed this in a way the full program didn't. Great job. #everydayawesome
Thanks another great video,i noticed they all speak the same about success just in different terms .It narrows done to this 1)Have goals 2)You're a product of your effort 3)Deliberate Practice 4)Beliving in yourself and that u will achieve the goal set 5)Never giving up
We are what we think. Not any random thought, but strong beliefs we hold. Therefore, if you wanna change yourself, change your beliefs. It would be nice, if you made an episode about that.
Earl + Brian = Plan + Do = Recipe for Achievement ! :-) thanks for great reminder .... Ships ... having a Goal is essential 1st step, making a Plan essential 2nd Step doing the Do is the critical step, without which everything makes the preceding steps redundant !
Jo Jo Hi! The primary reason my set up looks so good is because my genius friend Mikki Willis of elevate.us and his team hooked me up! Basic breakdown of the equipment: Sony camera: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0099HBYT6/ with this lens: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BQXL5CM Sennheiser microphone: en-us.sennheiser.com/lavalier-clip-on-microphones-wireless-set-presentation-ew-112-p-g3 Plus some studio-quality light box thingies that Mikki got for me! (
This is awesome Brian, a lot of wisdom in just a few minutes, was wondering if you could make videos on biographies of great people and reviews on seminars like Dan Pana QLA castle seminar.
Sebastián Jácome Thanks for the note, Sebastián! And funny, because just this morning I made a commitment to myself to do 250 biographies over the next 5 years. Any must-reads?! (Current focus is exclusively on books but seminars would be cool, too!)
great that you take so much action towards your goals, could you make a list of the 100 best books you read or so since you read so many books that would be very helpfull to alot of your audience I think. thank you
eds sd Hi Eds: Thanks! Here's a list of 200+! Need to whittle it down for your 100 but there are a lot of tags in there to help focus: brianjohnson.me/philosophersnotes/the-books/
he Secret - We become what we think about. (all day long) Success who is making progress towards a worthy idea. Two ships. Ship 1 - They have a goal, a plan and the leadership to help them get there. They will arrive at their destination 9,999 times out of 10,000. Ship 2 - They have no goal, no plan, no leadership to help them get to where they say they want to go but they have the same type of ship. The only thing they do is turn the motor on. It may get out of the harbor but it will end up being shipwrecked. Create a checklist for our lives. A personal life philosophy. This better helps secure a successful flight in life. Do your work. The paradox of work coined by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi states that people say they want more leisure time but when you look at the research people were the happiest when they were at work (engaged in an activity doing something proactive). We are teleological beings. We function best when we seek goals, an end, a purpose. Teleology is a reason or explanation for something in function of its end, purpose, or goal.
simon Gonzalez Thanks so much for your kind words and support, Simon!! Thousands of people are subscribed already and paychecks are flowing. Now it's time to see just how much impact we can create. :) Let's do this! :)
Brian, do you have any tips, techniques or resources for increasing your reading speed (given you've put in your hours of deliberate practice, of course ;) ? There's so much to read and so little time !!
Steven Curran It's a great question. I perused "speed reading" years ago but it didn't resonate with me as I'm not looking to rush thru books. I view it as more of a quiet, nice, long chat. Having said that, I find that keeping my mind generally pretty mellow via meditation, exercise, rest and by not shredding my attention via a ton of email, online time, etc. I can read rather quickly and efficiently! Other keys: Read something that really inspires you. Don't "should' on yourself with stuff that's uninspiring. I don't finish every book I start and know really quickly whether it's actually worth my time. Then I go hammer it once I'm it. I also love to create mini-milestones as I read--finishing a chapter or getting to page 100 if I'm on page 86. And, there are a surprising number of micro-moments of a few minutes when we can get some reading in if we want to! Just gotta turn off the other distractions...
An other great video, I feel inspired to come up with some goals now. I feel that it can be hard sometimes to come up with them, do you have any suggestions on how to come up with Life-Goals?
Pontus Olsson Thanks, Pontus! Hmmm... A few questions come to mind: If you had all the time and all the money in the world, what would you do? If you knew you couldn't fail, what would you do? What's one thing you've wanted to do and just haven't gotten around to it? Now a good time to rock it?
Let me tell you Brian, as being a Hungarian myself, you pronounce Mihály Csíkszentmihályi's name AMAZINGLY WELL!! Congrats! (tiny correction: common mistake among non-Hungarian speakers, that they don't pronounce the last "i" at the end of Csíkszentmihályi (
ewwbananaagain Wow. Awesome. Thank you for the kind words and correction! (Is that you in the video?!) I learned how to pronounce his name so well from Martin Seligman in his original Authentic Happiness 10+ years ago. He told us to think "Cheeks Sent Me High!" hehe.
***** Haha, so that's why it was so clear :D :D Then just say: "Cheek sent me high e" next time :D (And no, I have no idea who she is in that video :) )
Hey Bri I thought you might enjoy hearing that my partner and I have been high-fiving each other and saying "Yes! That is just like us to crush it!" when we eat healthy food. Hehe!!
