  • INFAMOUS AMERICA presented by Black Barrel Media. In a time of great upheaval around the world, America experiences outbreaks of violence and fear. Walter Johnson, Ty Cobb and the other stars of the Deadball Era rise to prominence. The Chicago White Sox navigate the 1919 season and by the end of the year, they are on the verge of a World Series berth. Behind the scenes, some of the players begin to discuss the possibility of a big payday during the Series, much bigger than the bonuses they would earn for participating in the event.

But when you describe the cathedrals of baseball you forgot the wonderful Baker Bowl

Perhaps he didn't think of baker bowl as a cathedral. Perhaps he thought of baker bowl as a low class shithole. Perhaps.

And there it is, the unnecessary yet somehow required tangent into a story about racism completely unrelated to the story being offered..

Quit bringing up race so much. Just talk about baseball

Well back then, racial differences were even more prominent than they are now. Many people were racist and brought those ideals wherever they went, including baseball. Unfortunately, if you're talking about history sometimes you can't not bring up race issues; its unavoidable. It's there and will never go away, even in our time but especially if you talk about this period in history. Baseball is indeed being talked about, but we need to remember the time period he is talking about. Besides, he only mentions what is happening and goes straight back to baseball.
Calm down. Respect the history and learn from it.

did you complain about the inclusion of solar eclipse or world war i as well? get a clue. race plays a role in this piece as many of the events in the early 1900s, including the race riots of 1919, laid the foundation of the negro leagues. it's related to baseball. and it certainly has a place here in this story.
