I also used to take the 2nd class sleeper from Bangkok to Chiang Mai back in 1986 & 1987, so this brought back some good memories. One tip for anyone thinking about doing it, it's generally more comfortable on the bottom bunk as there is less rocking from side to side.
I took the sleeper train with my girlfriend to Chiang Mai about six years ago. I don't think I actually slept, but the accommodations were comfortable. We flew back and it was the first airplane trip my girl had ever taken. More expensive but worth it for so many reasons.
Very interesting, we did the same trip a week ago, but in a horrible super cold bus. We will try to get the train on the way back to Bangkok, and we will book it as soon as possible!!!
Definitely fly, it’s an hour and 30 minutes from Bangkok, cost $40-$90 one way, so worth it if you’re on a tight schedule. The bus and train just take too long, I’ve done it. Be aware of the super cheap trains (locals use) lots of cockroaches on the journey with you. In Chiangmai now and its fab
We did it. Wouldn't do it again. For one thing, you don't see anything on the overnight train. If you want to see the scenery take a daytime train and get to CM (or BK) in the evening.
Nice travel dose, as always. I have a question I hope you will have a moment to reply to; it's about your Travel Bags. I'm not one to shlep bulky suitcases aroung. If you would, please message me with precisely what you two are wearing, front and back. Thx & Cheers
@@michaelnaluz8536 i have traveled in sleeper only thrice because of horrible smeel and toilet plus no reservation. 💀 I have left sleeper long back and i dont recommend anyone to travel unless their financial condition is not upto the mark
