Thanks for sharing your video, I have just bought a rover75, and have this job to do, just wanted to also say be extra careful when you’re working under any vehicle, make sure you support it with axle stands ….

Thanks for watching Paul. I hope you are successful in treating your suspension arms. I will be replacing mine in time.

I'm glad to see you're checking those arms out! Yours look in better condition than mine were. It is however only a matter of time before they need replacing. At least you can budget for the future with fair warning. We replaced the springs as well. DMGRS has a good offer on rear arm kits. I had already done the rear dampers. It makes a hell of a difference to the back end when all that's done. The unused bracket is for the rear drop links for the anti-roll bar, not all Rovers had them, but I think the MG versions did. They can be retrofitted if you really want to, but in my eyes it's unnecessary.
I bought some Lanoshield from a boat builder in Scotland (off Ebay) does a good job of protecting stuff.

Had to be done. I do want to replace them but many people say it's a bitch to do. I have seen a set come off a car with actual holes in them.

I used to have a 52 plate one of these. 1.8 petrol Engine, midnight blue paintwork, cream leather and walnut interior. Beautiful car.

The rear suspension arms did rust on rover 75 cars...its because people dont wash thebsalt off in winter...best to wure brush it then spray it with waxoyl...Bob...75 owner...Paignton...

Also the fuel tank straps rust...that is a big MOT failure...4 big long bolts hold the subframe to the body...i slackened mine one by one then tightened them again just to make sure they werent rusted in...although my 75 very rarely went out in bad weather...needless to say old bob does have another car...a ford focus diesel 64 plate...not the character of the rover...but the focus is a lovely car... i pamper that one as well....Bob....

my tank straps are really bad. I am definitely interested in getting a stainless one.

Jobs like these are so much easier if you can raise the rear on ramps. I did mine few years ago, all rust proofed and coated with x2 coats hammerite, rust still coming back!! I've recently had all the wheel arch liners out and cleaned/rust proofed/painted everything I could get to. The arch liners are quite easy to get out. good luck.

I think we all use Goodyear jack stands every now and them 🙂 I don't think I have every worried that much about the underside of my car... I always figure it will just get dirty again anyway.

Luckily I have never had a jack fail on me 🤞🏻

@@CortinasAndClassics If one did, it might make you jump but the tire would keep it from squishing you. 🙂

I have just put a new fule tank strap on my 75. What a ball ache 😪. Before I fitted it I gave it 3 coats of hammerite.

clean it up as best you can and give it a blasting with waxoyl. Do you live near the coast ? Also has the car spent its life near the coast if both answers are yes then they will be a contributing factors. I spray the undersides of my old vehicles with old oil mixed wth diesel it leaves a right mess for a bit but it does work.

I bought a can of duck oil Duncan. The car spent all it's life near Birmingham. I have had the car almost 3 years now. Want to get the underside treated yes.

@@CortinasAndClassics I heard you mention the duck oil in the video I use it on my old Harley as it seems quite a kind stuff around rubber componants (not tyres, keep it off the tyres)

Thanks for sharing your journey with us. Is it worth considering Lanoguard?
